Calling PiS leaders "ducks" is not an insult, they had nickname like that coming from their surname.

I almost (almost) hope PiS does win just to see what justifications their followers come up with for their inevitable failure.

I can understand someone not liking PO policies (I don't much like a bunch of them myself), but there's something .... infantile about those who want a superhero government who'll punish the bad little boys and girls and give treats to the good little boys and girls.

The election on the 25th is about a new government which will face the same kinds of restraints on action that any government faces under the rule of law. It's not going to save anyone from the boogeymen.

It's almost inevitable that they'll spend the entire time blaming PO while sticking stealth taxation on almost everything to pay for some flagship (unfunded) promises. I'm already expecting fuel taxes to be increased dramatically.


It seems to be some sort of lingering resentment among some sections in society that they never got a share of the spoils, so to speak.

I'm just wondering how hysterical PiS supporters will get if a rainbow coalition puts a technocratic PM in place and leaves PiS in opposition, again.

I don't know whether it makes sense to have one or more polls every day. Nobody can of course deny that PiS shall win and that PO shall come second but as to the other parties, I don't know whether polls are reliable. Someone told me that for instance people voting for PSL often don't say it as they are embarrassed to say so and I'm sure it's the case for all small parties. According to today's polls, there shall be 5 parties... In fact, best to have several parties in order to have the whole population represented.

In life almost nothing is inevitable or impossible. A past problem or mistake (contrarian SO & LPR partners) in 2007 does not mean it will have to be repeated. A lot of world politicans have stepped down only to make a comeback. A lot depends on which and how many of the little also-rans make it through. The best scenario would be for no-one coalitionable with PO (Petru, ex-commies, PSL ) to get elected so PiS could comfortably go it alone.


I wonder how you'd feel if you were amongst them, racking your brain each month to make ends meet or living from hand to mouth with your family.

It's easy to pull a Harry and look down on Poland B but far more difficult to put yourself in their shoes. That's called empathy -- something pro-market freaks usually lack.

What strikes me is that PiS are not any good but if they are so far ahead of PO and of the others, it must mean that the others are much worse ;).

I suppose that PiS correspond more to Poles, most people here are poor, conservative, religious.

Here's the thing. I live in Poland and see these people all the time and.... they don't exist, at least not as you seem to imagine they do.

Yes, there is an underclass in Poland and yes, they often have a hard time of it but no political party gives a rat's a*s about them (if you think PiS does you clearly aren't exposed to their day to day rhetoric and have not lived in Poland while they are in power). And raised taxes and witch hunts and a flurry of backroom deals (pretty much PiS's entire stock in trade) aren't going to help them either.

My bet is that it'll be less than a year before a senior PISite gets caught blaming 'the Jews' in the same way that Father Director did.

Another day, another scandal. This time with the actor, Jerzy Zelnik.

Basically, Kuba Wojewodzki called up Jerzy Zelnik pretending to be from Duda's office, asking for names of people that were against Duda and PiS. Zelnik complied with the request, naming colleagues (!) and making it clear that he was willing to cooperate in the creation of a "black list" of fellow members of his profession.

Absolutely disgusting, and shows how PiS supporters are willing to indulge in truly despicable behaviour.

I don't like Wojewodzki, but in this case - the fact that a PiS supporter was openly willing to take part in the creation of such a "black list" shows that PiS are already intend on destroying careers and livelihoods upon entering government.

It's certainly no surprise. Hopefully this tips a few more people into the national alliance against PIS and encourages them to actually go and vote so that darkness doesn't fall over Poland from 26 October onwards.

Accents (like the acute ó) are not required in English spelling. And it's interesting how you ..... ignore the witch hunting predilections of a party whose rule you will never live under.

I find it very interesting how Polonius completely ignores the scary part of PiS supporters openly denouncing their colleagues to "the authorities" and instead concentrates on the man himself.

If you listen to the actual recording, it's very very disturbing to listen to.

It's called "If you have no valid arguments, raise some kind of weird trivia to distract people."

For tourist visits and natural scenery maybe. But what about the people of Poland B? You have always described them as the best and most decent people ever to trod God's good earth, have you? Somehow I don't recall. And nearly all of them support PiS and hate POO with a passion.


Wojewódzki, Michnik and their ilk like to talk about witchhunts but somehow never mention the crimes their families had committed against the Polish nation. Not only did Adam's parents betray Poland and side with its Stalinist enemies. Communsit Prosecutor Bogusław Wojewódzki was a PRL dignitary involved in the 1981 Bydgoszcz provocation. That was when communist riot police were sent in to beat up protesting Solidarity farmers. (Google if itnerested.)

Disturbing, but not in the slightest bit surprising; in fact it's entirely what one can expect from PIS.

For balance, focus on the POO's scams and abuses. You one-sided PiS-bashing is getting boring. Anyway, it's only a few mroe days. In the 2019 election we'll all be wondering whether POO will make it under the wire along with Kukiz and Petru.

They're too devious and sly to get caught. Every political formation has the equivalent of black lists as you call them. In fact multiple lists of people to seek support from, avoid, blackball or whatever. That's called politics. PiS are just too sincere and fortright and don't cleverly cover their tracks the ways POO and the ex-commies do.

That's revolting. Any party with even a shred of decency would immediately suspend the person who said that and then after making sure that he did say that throw him out permanently.

I think the PIS heads are like their Russian counterparts(Putinites). One is obsessed with what they term the post-communists and the latter with the Fifth column. Both are just regressive forces nostalgic for the past; which was Stalinism.

Even if its in the guise of anti-Stalinism, it's still the same game. Hence the similarities of the two countries with the rise of ultra conservatism; Putin and Kaczyński.

We all know that permanent expulsion from PiS doesn't happen - you just get a job working for companies that work for PiS. That smirking fool Hoffman knows all about it.

In other words, PiS intend to use TVP as their personal mouthpiece if they win power. It's exactly what happened between 2005-2007, and we can expect TVP to resemble something that Putin would be proud of.
