Poland Parliamentary elections 2015

Przepraszam - I forgot about Petru & Co. As things now stand, his grouping seem the most likely of the small also-rans to make it through. That would give some backing to PO, because the Platformers' liberal-capitalist wing is quite significant. Petru would have fit in there quite well but apparnetly he doesn't want old Lady Kopacz cracking the whip over him.

Merged: Latest TNS poll: PiS-led coalition - 52%, PO 24%

This survey was taken before the Stonoga affair broke out and before the government shake-up it has percipitated, but it's a good sign as is: PiS - 32%, PO - 24%, Kukiz - 20% and all the others out of the running. The next post-Stonoga poll should be quite itneresting.

PiS-led coalition

You mean the one that doesn't exist?
The last time PIS were sure they could form a coalition, they instead turned Poland into an international laughing stock.

This time they didn't have to. PO has done it for them over the past 8 years. Scandals and unkept promises were the hallmark of those wasted two terms in office. Unfinished motorways, failed crackdown on designer drugs, mucked-up health service, gambling scandal, Nowak's wristwatch scandal, tape scandal which has re-emerged once again with the Stonoga leaks -- these are but a few of the PO's glorious "achievements".

Still waiting for the S7 motorway between Krakow and Warsaw to be started. Many years after it was promised to be completed. A very deliberate insult to the voters by the look of it.

The personal taxation system is a disgrace.

I am no fan of Pis but PO have changed wasted the opportunity.

PO's glorious "achievements"

Let's not forget Tusk saving Poland's shipyards. He solemnly announced that he had wealthy Arab investors lined up to finance the upgrade which would make Poland a competitive shipbuilder and create new jobs and then......another fizzle. One indisputable PO achievement has been their propaganda...clever, hard-hitting, seductive but totally at loggerheads with reality.

.........but totally at loggerheads with reality................

That is PIS through and through Polonious.

You wouldn't know.

You don't live here :)

And this is key to it. The conservative PO aren't perfect however the nationalist/socialist PiS were, during their brief sniff at power, an absolute joke. Gave the foreign media plenty to laugh at though, unfortunately at Poland's expense.

And of course the mainstream PiS-bashing, pro-PO Polish media like Wybiórzca and TVN had nothing to do with it. The venom and vitriol just fell from the sky, innit?

Yes, from memory the prospective employers took one look at the labour practices up there, had a quick briefing about employment law in Poland, read a short report about pollution on the sites and promptly realised that it would be much easier to just dig a hole in the desert and bury hundreds of millions of euro there than to go all the way to Poland and 'invest' in the ship-yards.

Still, at least Tusk didn't steal anybody's money. I seem to remember a radio station you like collecting tens of millions (or was it hundreds of millions) from people who really couldn't afford the donation to 'save the shipyards'. But then Radio Maryja didn't invest in the shipyard and the money just vanished.

And of course the mainstream PiS-bashing, pro-PO Polish media like Wybiórzca and TVN had nothing to do with it. The venom and vitriol just fell from the sky, innit?

When you have government ministers coming out with 'ideas' such as making homosexuals sign special lists and be barred from certain professions, the western media are going to take an interest. There are more than a few foreign hacks out here. Some of the ones in Warsaw even have a monthly meet-up.

.............'ideas' such as making homosexuals sign special lists and be barred from certain professions.........

Whilst the great "Peace and justice" leader of that epoch was at home stroking his pussy...... or not. Nudge nudge.

If it weren't for the sheer hypocrisy of those tossers, then by and large all well intending people would have gently shook their heads in baffled wonderment.

As it is, the huge majority in Polska A hate them with a passion and something needs to be done.

A military coup?

barred from certain professions

Every high health-risk individual is barred from professions where he/she could harm others. Be it a leper, homosexual where the STD rate is very high, tuberculars or others with communicable diseases are not allowed to work in contagious-disease wards or those requiring high sterility like preemie wards. Only LGBT types would start selfishly screaming "DISCRIMINATION" and "HOMOPHOBIA" with total disregard for those they are putting at risk.

Aside from health, a someone with thick grubby fingers will usually not make a good watchmaker or pianist, but that is not discrimination only common sense.

You mean that cat that was so pleased to see the great leader every time he came home the poor cat would run round the flat and scratch and bite him?

No, just make sure that more people in Polska A actually vote.

Every high health-risk individual is barred from professions where he/she could harm others.

No, they are not. Although it is interesting to see you trotting out the exact same justification that the Nazis used for locking Jews into ghettos.

You mean the media that Poles prefer.

Every high health-risk individual is barred from professions where he/she could harm others. Be it a leper, homosexual

More pure fiction from you about your favourite subject. You think about it an awful lot, don't you....

No, just make sure that more people in Polska A actually vote.

Bingo.

Merged: Kukiz nudges Platformers into 3rd place

The latest poll, the first since the Stonoga afffair and government shake-up, showed PiS in the lead with 30%, Kukiz in 2nd with 24% and PO in 3rd with 19%. Not long ago I had predicted the Platfusy would drop into the teens.

Petru's pro-capitalaist party garnered 7% backing and Miller's ex-commird just made it under the wire with 5%.

You don't need to make a new thread with each new opinion poll

Polls in Poland are notoriously unreliable. I seem to remember you swearing blind that the PiSuarzy would win last time and that also JK would be elected president. Both predictions your usual codswallop.

And PSL nowhere to be seen, despite always doing well and having a hard core of voters.

PiS in the lead with 30%

Still comfortably below the ~46% they need to form a government then; excellent news, thank you for sharing it.

excellent news

Indeed. And a week is a long time in politics; never mind a few months.
Harry
11 Jun 2015 /  #288
A few months should be more than long enough to let the public know that Kukiz is a clown with no policies and no clue about how to run a country. And once he's busted PO can run those long favour adverts along the lines of 'Vote Kukiz, get Kaczynski', especially if Kukiz is stupid enough to say anything at all about entering a coalition with PIS.

The coalition thing will rear its head sooner or later, like the elephant in the room. I do hope Platforma wait for the PiSuarzy or Kukiz to raise it. That will have maximum effect, since the thought of Kaczynski getting near power again (as he briefly did before being dumped mid-term) will cause a rush of support to any party that will help to prevent that.

hard core of voters.

Most ludowcy have moved to good ol' PiS!

Results just don't bear that out. In any case they always do far better in the ballot box than in opinion polls.

Interesting though that you describe the PiS flappers as "good old" when that party is neither of those things.

You know full well what I mean Harry. Jarek was once a pretty boy and never much interested in poor pussy. Now, if he wasn't the appalling character that he is, no one would allude to the fact. Since, unknown to him and his bunch of crims, homosexuality is not a condition but a state.

But I did get your added riposte :)

"good old"

Figure of speech... People say "good ol' USA" even though Britain is much older.
About the Platfusy one could only say the "old, tired and spent Platformers". Next survey and their backing could well be down to 13-14%. By election time the Petru gang may well surpass them.

Both major parties will be treading on thin ice until elections. The outcome can vary a lot based on what is said and what is done. A lot of homework needs to be done. Otherwise, what I fear the most, is a stunted government unable to make any decisions or pass any laws.

That's why it's important for PiS to win having a sympathetic president. With Kukiz PiS would have a 52% majority, probably a constitutional majority.

Which is why the good guys, Platforma, PSL, Petru etc need to sit back, show some unity and give the Dud every opportunity to put his foot in his mouth.
