New domestic violence 24/7 hotline in Poland

1 in 4 women across Europe have experienced domestic violence. 800,000 women in Poland face physical abuse each year, with 150 annual deaths attributed to this.

Existing DV help services are until 10pm.

An NGO has started a service to help people.

Good. More is also needed in the way of education. Girls whose fathers are abusive often find abusive partners. The cycle must be broken.

Its a shame on Poland that the courts don't support these women. I have heard of a solicitor who went to court 3 or 4 times to get a restraining order and on the last occasion her partner murdered her. The judge said she should have made a better case.

Unless there is a substantial change in thinking in Poland's courts it's not going to help a great deal. I've also have first hand experience of how the Police deal with this kind of thing in Poland and mostly they don't. Too much paperwork for them.
