That stat is bogus. They never asked me so my opinion was not considered.
Now, those 92% who did not cheer for Germany are traitors. After all, at least 3 of the best players in the German team were not really German.

Are you saying they have a better opinion of Russians? I don't know what to make of all this. Seems like the Germans are the ones being ignorant and overlooking Poland. In that sense Poles are more worldly and knowledgeable than Germans will ever be cuz we learn about other countries next to us. Do the Russians have a bigger media presence in Germany? Poles will never really love Germans if they continue to be so ignorant. And then you guys wonder why Poland has a love affair with America and listens and does business with them? A german/Russian love match is worrisome to Poles.

PS: A Polish girl who's lived in Austria for 20 years told me there is still a big divide between west and east Europe.

Widely spread opinion about Russians is not better then opinion about Polish, they are just afraid of them.
I guess WWII (Stalingrad) was a lesson not to underestimate them.

I'm here writing about that part of German nation similar in their Weltanschauung to Bratwurst.
They have also decent, smart and educated people there too. Rammstein for example.

But in general Germans are not better or not worse than other Europeans.

Germans still bear a grudge against Poles for successful resisting the German attempt to recapture and colonize Eastern Europe. After Germanic tribes were pushed westward by oncoming Slavic nations, including old Polish ones, Germans repeatedly tried to go back to these lost territories, verging on obsession.

After many land shifts, with more than half of today`s Poland owned by Germany in the past, today the borders are more or less the same as they were 1000 years ago.

The truth is that Germans were contained by Slavic nations and their land expansion was stopped.

That is what Germans can`t forgive Poles and what makes the poll results such as they are.

Of course, Germans will never admit it openly, they cover their true feelings, maybe subconscious ones, and explain their dislike in terms of Polish mess, Polnische Wirtschaft, Polish car thieves etc etc. They will never say they dislike Poles for being a major obstacle to German expansionism.

and so what? what should we do? most of germans are 100% ignorants when talking about poland and poles, so why should i care about what ignorants say?

I have a conclusion about us, poles. we shouldn't take to much care about who likes us or not. we are not (at least i'm not) for liking. e.g. its almost impossible to convince ignorant who had never been in poland, that poland isn't a 3rd world, and ignorat's car is quite safe here, even his 11 years old skoda :).

i have a family in germany, including germans, they are living in the west part, and belive me they aren't shocked when they coming to poland for holiday - it was i to be surprised with amount of alcohol they can drink. and they call us alcoholics, what a impudence :)

so, leave most germans alone with their ignorance, and concentrate on making our live here better :)

Germans dislike Poles because we dared to reject their attempt of domination, cultural and other. Germans have always claimed, especially under Nazis, that they are culturally higher than Slavic nations.

Poles don`t acknowledge the German superiority, making Germans feel unhappy about themselves. They start thinking: What is wrong with me? Why didn`t Poles accept the German way and style of life? Why didn`t they want to live under German rule? In order and law?

It is clear that you don`t like somebody who makes you unhappy.

Nonsense - Polish large scale post ww2 emigration to Germany was to the West only (the old Bundesrepublik).
Even now the "new" Germany is not very interesting because of its high unemployment.

Germany (and France I believe) had a deal with Poland for their accession into the EU, till 2014 restricted immigration on polish laborours (that's why they all got to GB) and restricted ability to buy large swathes of land for Germans in Poland.

There's quite a few reasons Germans tend not to like Poles, just for the same reason that many Poles tend not to like Germans. There are many Germans that are descendants of the Vertriebenen der Ostgebiete (Expellees from the Eastern Territories), my indirect family included. They generally do NOT have a terribly positive outlook on Poland, and generally for good reason. Many Germans still see Poland as a rather aggressive state, especially due to Poland's pre-WW2 aggression (Soviet-Polish War, Upper Silesia annexation). The expulsions destroyed German-Polish relations (other than Soviet East Germany, which was rather forced) for a rather large amount of time. I personally know Germans and descendants of Germans who were expelled from Breslau (Wroclaw) and Stettin (Szczecin). They are not too fond of Poland.

Poles, on the other hand, still generally remember Germany's invasion during WW2 and the partition of Poland in general before that. I know many Poles who dislike Germany on those grounds.

Of course, if both countries want to play the "Who was there first?" game, the order is: Poland (today), Germany, Poland, West Slavic tribes (not just Poles, mind you), East Germanic tribes (Gothic), and before that, Celts... so it makes the most sense to give the entire region to Ireland, methinks. Or, before that, it was likely inhabited by pre-Indo European peoples related to the Basque, so we could definitely create a new Euskara there.

For the record, I'm half Polish, one quarter Ashkenazim (Jewish German), and a quarter Prussian, and am an American citizen. My family hails from Danzig/Gdansk, both Prussian and Polish sides, so I generally know the issues fairly well. And no, my two sides of my family do not get along at all :D.

and my family has German heritage, only good and positive things about German stuff but we are very anti-Germany in the sense of Germany the state! ;p

That's why my family went on with uprisings beign in solidarity and everything. To prove our Polishness ;)

Can even remember that in the hallways in my school there were pictures of a tour trip to Germany the school had done and there was a giant black German eagle. I made sounds of spitting every time I went past it in disrespect. Of course after I get to know I have similar political opinion like Angela Merkel and that Germany is the savior of Europe in bad days I had to restrain a bit ;)

Although going back to topic I can remember a class of Germans coming to our class in Warsaw (Polish class) and my colleagues were joking about making "hail Hitler" in front of em. But they never really did it (maybe because they lacked support from my side idk). The Germans were not that much to communicate as they were only allowed to talk in German, and so were we (as this was part of the German lessons). I was the only one able to grab some words and guess what they were talking about since I could speak Norwegian. While the others just couldn't grasp their conversations.

As what I got from they didn't say anything negative about Poland, but a years can't wipe out people opinions so I guess there are many that doesn't know about Poland as BB says, and some that are not that quite fond of it either.
