She was! I doubt she can not be respectful

Disregarding the majority of the polish peoples wish and telling us to take in her migrants or else be fined 2 billion
.... how respectful of our sovereignty and wish of the majority.. merkel never liked the pesky aspects of democracy that contradict or could endanger her agendas

I think she has understood by now that she lost that battle.

Speaking of which a group of Poles has greeted her in Warsaw today. I love the helmet.

merkel never liked the pesky aspects of democracy that contradict or could endanger her agendas

That is why liberals love running to the courts to get what they could never, ever get any other way, especially referendums.

the whole Western world stereotypes Germans

Nah, it's mostly the Daily Fail in their daily report about WW2. You should try a different news outlet sometime... :)

And lets remember that American Germans were the ones who invented so called "polish jokes"

That BS again. Prove it with a source that is not a right-wing PolAm one.

Of course she has. Problem is she wont suffer any consequences of her actions. She should be forced to.retire in one of.germanys no go zones so she can see for the rest of her life what her policies caused. Maybe then shell even become an afd voter.

Maybe, she an Ossie so everything's possible :-D

Speaking of which the AfD gains the most ground in Ossieland

Aunt Wiki says:

"Persisting differences in culture and mentality among the old East Germany and old West Germany are often referred to as the "wall in the head" ("Mauer im Kopf").[1] "Ossis" ("Easties") are stereotyped as racist, poor and largely influenced by Russian culture.[2] "Wessis" ("Westies") are usually considered snobbish, dishonest, wealthy, and selfish."

Have you ever watched a popular adult cartoon called "American Dad"? If not, then you should check out Klaus, the German fish character? :-)

Is wikipedia not a right-wing PolAm enough?

"these jokes were later fuelled by ethnic slurs disseminated by German warlords and National Socialist propaganda that attempted to justify the Nazi crimes against ethnic Poles by presenting them as dirty and relegating them as inferior on the basis of not being German."

"Some Polish jokes were brought to America by German displaced persons fleeing war-torn Europe in the late 1940s"

That's our British, Polish and PolAm "nationalists" for you ... :)

wikipedia

From the same source:
"Some of the early 20th century Polish jokes might have been told originally before World War II in disputed border-regions such as Silesia, suggesting that Polish jokes did not originate in Nazi Germany, but rather much earlier as an outgrowth of regional jokes rooted in historical social class differences."

ethnic slurs disseminated by German warlords and National Socialist propaganda

They "welcome" refugees as long as those refugees live somewhere else and as long as the welcoming morons don't get the invoice for the services rendered to said refugees, but pay they will. They are just too stupid or too pc, which is the same thing, to think about.

There is a perception, rightly or wrongly, that Germans are trying to dominate Europe and doing a very bad job of it.
This is why many Europeans dislike Germans......the history doesn't help either......
BB.....Germans are not liked by many Europeans.
Germans need to understand this, change their ways and then we can all give you the trust and respect you crave for and deserve.
Bratwurst Boy  9 | 11925
2 Nov 2018 /  #1695
Would you tell the US to change their ways too? Ever heard of world wide anti-americanism? Well..in Europe it's Germany, especially with France falling so far behind during the last 10/15 years.

Every big and powerful country get's this treatment, it's par of the course for smaller countries to mistrust the stronger one and NOTHING Germany can do to change that, short of partition itself to make itself small and weak. That's the ONLY thing to understand about that...

The EU is Europe's best bet to dissolve some of Germany's power and put it in "shackles" if you so want. That's why the anti-EU stance of some nationalists is so incredible dumb that it boggles the mind.

And now....could you please stop harking on about....it get's really, really, really repetitive and boring. Especially as neither I nor Germany can do anything realistic to change that!
Miloslaw  21 | 4869
2 Nov 2018 /  #1696
Oh dear BB,looks like I hit a raw nerve......I do get where you are coming from, but The EU has
failed.....it's game over.....time to start from scratch....in which case Germany needs to change it's atitude.

Like judging them fairly,

like not opening the door to EU to all and sundry without asking other EU countries for their approval. Not even putting it to vote.

Says Tomasz Szarota, a Polish publicist.@ TheOther

hmmm ...and because he is Polish you feel justified in discriminating against him due to his ethnicity.

I wonder about that "closer" too...after all the polish gov made anti-german propaganda their daily staple.

Well, closer is propaganda. Rather than talk about Polish gov notice that 80% of mass media in Poland is owned by German capital. Do you really want to talk about propaganda?

Also, what with this oversensitive butt hurting attitude? After all point out out some issue and differences between countries and their interests is a part of the healthy process of negotiation. If your and YOUR answer is - meh it is all BS and propaganda, our way or no way - don't be surprised if in response you can hear - no way. There is no talk or understanding. Why do you blame Polish gov for it?

because he is Polish you feel justified in discriminating against him due to his ethnicit

Nonsense. What would YOU say if a German publicist would release a paper saying that these jokes do exist for almost every nationality and that they were not specifically invented for Poles? Sounds much more plausible, doesn't it?
Dirk diggler  10 | 4452
3 Nov 2018 /  #1703
I thought polish jokes were more of a pre 2000s american thing... i.e. dp which becamr dumb polak from the original displaced person. I havent heard people use polish slurs or polish jokes in like 2 decades almost, aside from jewish writers in two broke girls and the occasional negative portrayal by hollywood...

Fun fact, polaco is a derogatory term for catalonians used by spaniards. Catalonians embrace the term though.

I havent heard people use polish slurs or polish jokes in like 2 decades almost,

Me neither.

That Polish jokes were invented by Hollywood Jews or German Nazis in the USA is a myth. In reality, they are simply a variation of the same jokes that already existed for other ethnicities. This horse shows up on a regular basis and has been flogged to death repeatedly.

Gotta go now. Time for the pub. :)

Not at all. Why would you bring up his ethnicity otherwise.

the stereotypes about Germans are soo funny and so totally right! Heh:)

It makes a world of a difference on which side of the WWII front you were on, BratwurstBoy.

Sitting in a watchtower is Auschwitz with an assault rifle ready to shoot is not the same thing as being a prisoner in the very same camp. So don't play a naive German schoolgirl with us, will you? :-)

There is a perception, rightly or wrongly, that Germans are trying to dominate Europe and doing a very bad job of it.

Totalen Krieg. The German approach was to totally eliminate some nations of Europe and then making German slaves from those who were chosen to survive. All of this by the means of Total War that is without respecting any basic human laws. On top of 6 million citizens they also methodically killed Polish elites en masse and completely destroyed Polish capital city of Warsaw. They wanted to kill the people but also to destroy the culture that they hated.

They didn't take the possibility that they may lose into account.
And I bet that they were very surprised that those "silly" civilized Brits and Americans treated them so well after war.

And now all they want to be "likeable" and are honestly surprised that there is no national holiday of "kiss your lovely German neighbour day" in Poland.

Yes, listen Serbs. We have better perception of things. You Poles are naive to your bones.

For long time already its France and some circles within USA that using Germany and German satellites as condom to screw Slavs. Britain is also part of it.
Lyzko  42 | 9519
3 Nov 2018 /  #1708
I don't believe Germany is intentionally "trying" to dominate any more than an unusually talented anybody in a particular area of endeavor is trying to be better than the rest. It's more a question of basic competence and that Germany throughout much of her long and checkered history as evinced a supreme talent for, among other things,

organizing and efficiently compartmentalizing, something which tends towards industriousness, hence leading to superior productivity.

Horowitz wasn't going out and trying to take over the field of classical piano. He was just so darned gifted, he made nearly everyone else seem inferior, that's all.

He couldn't help being good, it's just the way he was.

Now, I'm not saying Germans per se are superior or any such rot. However, their experiences have possibly given them an advantage not afforded others for any number of reasons.

Germany is down because insulted Svetovid. That is why Germanics losing power. Svetovid is powerful God.

Look, Ottoman Turks insulted Svetovid and their sultan Murad I was by Serbian killed exactly on Vidovdan (28 June 1389), day dedicated to Svetovid. Turkish Empire is no more. Then, take Austro-Hungaria. Archduke Ferdinand insulted Svetovid and provoked and he also was killed by Serbian on day dedicated to Svetovid (Vidovdan, 28 June 1914). No more AH Empire.
