The EU hasn't changed the face of Polish culture. It has just promoted it and made it more accessible to more Europeans.

It has given Poland representation with its trading partners.

It has made inward investment here easier and created prosperity for many.

Nice highways, airports, water treatment plants, checks to farmers, apartment buildings, commercial buildings, sterling being sent back, renovations of historical buildings, educational programs, work... That's what Poland is getting out of the EU.

We're talking about NATO or? Iraq isn't a NATO action. Afghanistan is, and France contributes quite a bit to ISAF, more than Poland I believe.

The choices that Poland makes are always up to Poland. If it's in Polands interest for whatever reason, than the government will probably go down that route (say, on the job training for its soldiers).

France were lukewarm in the beginning and American restauranteurs responded by pouring out French wine and not serving French fries (which are Belgian anyway, lol). They really got stroppy with them and treated them rough.

The Polish government, like the British, has been put under extensive pressure by the people to pull the troops out but they are still there. Obama is the biggest liar. He has Gitmo open and seems to have extended Moshtarak.

You know nothing about politics, history and polish politics and history specifically, i dont as of rule respect other peoples views unless they're based on solid knowledge, i try hard to respect yours Sean simply because you're a smart and decent human being and i like you for that but its becoming hard with silly attempts at being provocative or wild shot statements like that.

As for Kresy its the old polish territory thats currently under the administration of Belarus and Ukraine, it encompasses Grodno, Lwów and Wilno (though Wilno is a Lithuanian city and always was despite the polish majority that so greatly contributed to it in the last centuries).

It was never an old ukrainian territory, its ukrainian for a whooping 65 years, prior to that it has been polish for over 500 years.

Before that period the place was the part of the Duchy of Ruś Halicka which had no connection with modern Ukraine, the deepest modern Ukraine can trace its roots is to 18 century and Mazepa who first brought the modern concept of Ukraine to mass consciousness (even though he was ready to sell it for a pretty penny if it so suited him).

Respect to both Poland and Ukraine.I am all for expansion of the slavic ground(especially on the west) and the effects it brings.

I highly doubt this will happen any time soon, but one never knows what the future will hold.

Now with the Ukrainian crisis their is a possibility. I am of ancestry to this area of Poland and would love to be able to live there. The problem is how to do it without hostile actions against Ukraine, Russia held referendum in Crimea because most people there are Russian, in Ukraine kresy most of these people were forced to leave or killed with most of there belonging being destroyed or robbed. I know this is an old thread but it is the future now and an opportunity is now present. Your thoughts?

Oh boy, so Putin wants to go back to moving borders? No wonder Eastern Europe is so politically unstable. Let's see Russia moves West, Poland moves East, Germany will want Western Poland back and here we go again, more squabbles over borders. No stability in that part of the world.
