Komorowski won Poland's presidency vote?

First exit polls reveal slight Komorowski lead.

But, exit polls have often been unreliable in the past. Does anything think that JK still might have won?

I think it's much much too early to announce the winner... Kaczynski has won earlier in a similar situation..

I don't know .... all three major polls show Komorowski ahead with the lowest number at 51.0. But of course I don't know the margin of error........

On the other hand, would PiS survive if he won? The president can't (I think) belong to a political party and PiS doesn't have any other potential leaders as far as I can tell.

I don't like how they are all cheerful in the PO headquarters.. It's still too early, such a thin difference..

I hope it is true. Poland was on the abyss of a bigoted Radio Marija sponsored era - once again. It deserves better.

Time to crack open the champagne! I can't contain my excitement, such a charismatic young man, that Komorowski. Never a slogan, only the truth! He'll make Poland into a superpower in the next few years. This man has to be the next Leader of the Year in any magazine. Such a visionary!

All those who support Civic Platform, should be aware of the fact that if Bronisław
Komorowski wins the presidential election, then in two years time the next parliamentary
elections will be won by PiS easily.

Actually, people who don't want PiS to regain power, should have voted Kaczynski today.
After two years during which Civic Platform will have total political power - Prime Minister
and President, people will blame Civic Platform for everything bad in their lives. Silly as it
seems, it's going to happen - the unemployment rate will be more or less the same it is
now. The economy will not grow so much as to make life of an average Joe significantly
better. People will complain, they will look at those in power to blame and who will they
see? Tusk and Komorowski - both Civic Platform apparatchiks.
So, the final outcome of Komorowski's victory will be PiS back in power in two years time.

I voted Marek Jurek in the first round and stayed home today, as I can't possibly imagine
voting for either of the candidates.

I'm not sure if Komorowski is a good choice.

Liberals around Europe are responsible for the plague of non-European immigrants.
It would be very bad for the future of Poland if he has the same views about immigration.

That is how politics works, of course this only applies to people easily influenced by populistic slogans and those who do not understand how economy works and so on..


I'm baffled, I was pretty sure all Marek Jurek voters will surely vote for Kaczyński..

Thats not good news in any country, having people in power who can't be hindered by anyone or anything is bad even if they're reasonable and solid, PO is neither.

No politician in Poland wants to be responsible for opening the borders, Poland is fairly insular as a country and as a society, anyone responsible for opening the floodgates would get destroyed as a politician so his personal opinion doesnt matter, he still wont do it.

Which means 90-95% voters.


Why should we? It was for a good reason that Marek Jurek left the alliance with PiS
and nothing much has changed since then. For real Catholic-conservative voters the
choice between Kaczyński and Komorowski is like choice between plague and cholera.

All my friends, who voted for Marek Jurek in the first round, stayed home today as well.

Thank you, Torq, it is a good lesson for me and millions of my compatriots. We always analyze what is worse and pick the other one. And that other bastard thinks that s/he, as a political person, was really that much supported. You have to show them what you think right away to keep them on leash.

Check the meaning of the English word "hindered". Also check your knowledge of the Polish legislative system. It is bicameral and has a constitution - these together provide appropriate checks. LK however used his veto to hamper (even hinder) the political programme of a democratically elected government.

It is great mistake to think that liberals are responsible for this incredible immigration. Well, if you want to know the answer who is responsible, than you should look in the mirror. It is you, and me too by the way, who don't have enough strength and responsibility for reproduction, are responsible. It is impossible to have good pensions when you don't have youngs to sustain them

It's good to hear that the Polish version of liberalism isn't the same as in Western Europe. :)

Economic liberalism in combination with a conservative view on cultural things is the best i think.

I'm not sure why people are saying that PO has complete power - the PSL still have a say, and they've hardly been entirely in harmony with PO lately.

PO are also highly unlikely to do anything offensive with elections due this autumn and next year.

I think it's better for elderly people to live on a low pension in a peaceful environment in which they feel at home, among people that have the same culture.

What's the advantage of getting higher pensions but at the cost of living in an area that's full of people from non-European origin?

I have no problem at all to pay more Polish tax for the elderly if that helps to keep non-Europeans outside. :)

Besides, I feel many elderly here are dull and sniping. They shouldn't get any more. For those that worked hard all their lives, that's a different story.

Half an hour ago with 20% of votes counted Komorowski had 50.6% of the vote and Kaczynski 49.4%. Too close to call but I suspect Komorowski will win even by a slight margin.

Let's hope BK will win. It will be much better for PL not to have a populist quarrelsome president like JK.
