Kaczyński slams "political correctness" plague in Poland

if Kukiz does have a program and you kow it, just tell me/us about it.

His programme is simple. Obtain a handful of seats in the Sejm. Allow Szydło to become PM. Fight with PiS constantly. Be humiliated as his Ruch Narodowy members cause endless trouble. Withdraw support from PiS. Support new technocratic government. Lose elections badly.

According to all Poles I happen to know, all his "program" has consisted of the socalled JOW about which nobody gives a sh... in Poland (we saw the referendum) ;). Claiming to be "anti" system (whereas he has made a lot of money thanks to the system) and being a rock singer is enough for that lost youth. For me, it is NO program ;)

it can all be fixed by a notary document jon - don't pretend

Don't pretend what exactly? Over the UK (where the poster's brother is) the law isn't like that, In Poland, not everyone knows about such things nor is there any reason they should have to do something that others don't. So don't pretend, Gumishu.

And in Kaczynskistan/4th republic/whatever, the elderly couple in my example would be criminals anyway.

As for Kaczynski, it was (like so much of his drivel) he's making a point about something that doesn't exist, deliberately confusing concepts and terminology (he is an educated person - he may be ignorant as pig sh1t on so many levels, but he does understand political concepts) in order to appeal to what the Americans sometimes call the 'Archie Bunker vote'.

We should not be fooled into thinking that his speech was for the benefit of those who heard it live - they were just there to clap. It's the people sat in front of the telly at home, wheezing about the evils of the modern world that he was playing to.

Indeed. Much of what he says is based on the PZPR methods - simple slogans designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator. He rants about political correctness, but I doubt his supporters could actually define how it affects people in Poland on an everyday basis.

And in Kaczynskistan/4th republic/whatever, the elderly couple in my example would be criminals anyway.

Meanwhile, he would make sure that the law didn't apply to him and his circumstances. Horrific.

There speaks a declared supporter of Kaczynski who, like the ghastly Kaczynski misunderstands the concept of political correctness, perhaps (like so many of the uninformed) in reality rather than empty rabble-rousing rhetoric like Kaczynski's pretence.

We can expect so much more nonsense like this, and JK is setting a precedent. As last time, they'll try to ban all sorts of things that their Mrs Grundy supporters dislike. This time however they'll be knocked back by the EU and will blame - wait for it - political correctness, despite maybe 1% of their core electorate, if that, actually being able to define the term.

Though Gumishu is right about one thing - kaczynski himself is unlikely to favour the thing mentioned above being criminalised given his own personal life.

I'm pretty sure Kaczyński doesn't believe in 90+% of what he says. It's pretty obvious that he has no real agenda beyond obtaining and keeping power - his own political history suggests that he's willing to adopt whatever position needed.

Before you start accusing people of lying, you might want to research the views of some of the individuals supporting his old Fourth Republic project.

I'm pretty sure Kaczyński doesn't believe in 90+% of what he says. It's pretty obvious that he has no real agenda beyond obtaining and keeping power - his own political history suggests that he's willing to adopt whatever position needed.

This is spot on.

demonize

Demonising is what that crowd specialise in. They need a bogeyman, a silent enemy to validate their paranoia and the feeling of powerlessness that underlies their support base - read Adorno on this.

Hence the crapola in his speech about 'political correctness' when in fact he wasn't talking about that at all, just misusing the term for his own ends - which to restate are quite simply the above bogeyman thing, and anticipation of having someone/something to blame when so many of their legislative projects are knocked back by the European Union.

Demonising is what that crowd specialise in.

Precisely, PO specialise in demonising PiS, no real progrqamme just waving the Kaczyński-Macierewicz scarecrow about. Kopacz has done so repeatedly during the campaign. PO's main preoccupation? The anti-PiS hate industry!

Vote for PO if you look forward to 4 more years of PiS-bashing instead of impoving life in Poland.

IMO political correctness is the #1 issue in Western Society. How can you practice liberal immigration AND political correctness?

And when I say #1 issue, I mean greater than unemployment, crime or education. Political Correctness stunts improvement by blinding proper evaluation.

Precisely, PO specialise in demonising PiS

They don't need to - PiS do an excellent job of doing it to themselves. What with a President that stole from the public purse, a PR man that defrauded the Sejm and many other characters - PO doesn't have to do it, as PiS are able to demonise themselves very easily.

Vote for PO if you look forward to 4 more years of PiS-bashing instead of impoving life in Poland.

I somehow imagine that PiS would rather spend 4 years obsessing about PO and the past.

Demonising is what that crowd specialise in. They need a bogeyman, a silent enemy to validate their paranoia and the feeling of powerlessness that underlies their support base - read Adorno on this.

Couldn't have said it better myself. When they realised that communism was dead and no-one was bothered by it anymore, they invented "gender" as the new boogeyman.

political correctness

Political correctness is deceitful totalitarian propaganda system
that distorts reality in the name of utopianist-leftist ideological goals. Totalitarian is an apt description because it seeks to dominate the totality of human endeavour, coerce behaviour serving its goals and suppress all dissent.

It claims to overturn old taboos but creates new ones and demadns veneration of its various sacred cows. It undermines religion but creates its own denomnation of libertinism.

It promotes fringe minorities whilst denouncing and incriminating the majority.
What is your defintion of political correctness?

PiS are able to demonise themselves very easily.

Quite - and as ever, blame it on an enemy, whether political correctness or other, even more nebulous, forces.

How would you define it?

Biting your tongue to avoid hurting ones feelings. That is fine in a social atmosphere: drinks, dinner etc.

The opposite of PC is not racism. And I think this point is being increasingly blurred in Western Society.

they invented "gender"

It was surgically emasculated Bejgowski-turned-Grodzka that most vociferously promoted the gender thing. PiS was only reacting to it. They did not think it up. How could any normal person even conceive of "gender on request"?!

Biting your tongue to avoid hurting ones feelings.

Not quite. It's nothing to do with 'biting your tongue' unless you make a habit of using words to hurt people. It's about choosing the language you use in order to be decent, positive and rounded by not demeaning others or yourself. Common sense really and nothing new..

The opposite of PC is not racism

I've never heard anyone suggest that it is, and am pretty sure that the concept had never occurred to Kaczynski.

As I said, invented by PiS.

Now you're just being contrarian. You know full well that all such "progressive" innovations are the concoction of sick anarcho-leftist, utopianist minds. The decent, patriotic, conservative right opposes such novelties but no-one except you has ever accused them of inventing them!

the story you tell

Thanks Jon. And we all would like to think that Kaczynski's heart is in fact in the right place, is spite of all his non PC gaffes, such as the xenophobic comments aimed at the Germans, demanding war reparations 65 years after the event............

I don't think it is, but I wonder what made him that way.

The virulent anti-Communist stuff seems to be some sort of reaction to his privileged nomeklatura upbringing, but the rest of it is rather illogical.

He never forgave the communists for not arresting him during martial law. His whole political career afterward (until Smolensk) was built around showing them what a mistake it was to underestimate him. Since Smolensk his whole career is built around proving that Tusk and Komorowski were involved in a conspiracy with Putin....

never forgave the communists

Any hard evidence for that claim or just another nasty PiS-bashing insinuation or speculation? Jarosław told me during their 2 years in government that his brother got interned but he was left at liberty so he could be followed by the PZPR "guardian angels" and possibly lead them to other underground actviists or cells. He was clever enough to shake his tail (being small and squat facilitates getting lost in a crowd).

BTW during that same conversation he said IV RP were planning to outlaw the ex-commie SLD. Too bad they weren't in power long enough to carry out that intention.

Sidewalk psychoanalysis, I doubt if he's aware of the process but as a hypothesis it does fit the data (including having a rationalization to cling to).

one's political enemies

Enemies of the Polish nation, Katyń conspirators, backers of martial law, ZOMO and Popiełuszko's murderers, Kremlin brown-nosers, mismanagers and embezzlers of Poland's economy, etc., etc.....

@InPolska: I just asked where did you get your data to support your claim "that we have seen over 94% of Polish voters are against JOW" and rather than try to answer this question you ask me what program Kukiz has.

@Ziem: if Kukiz does have a program and you kow it, just tell me/us about it.

First, tell me the source of your data and then I will tell you about the program of Kukiz, InPolska.
Please, do not try to avoid answering an embarrasing question I have asked you.

He'd have nobody to rail against, and in any case wouldn't have any legal grounds to ban a major party.

He fell off the bridge near Włocławek right to the Vistula river ...
