Poland to join anti-ISIS coalition

Poland's' defense chief Antoni Macierewicz told a meeting of NATO defence ministers that Poladn would join the anti-ISIS coalition. In exchange, he heard assurances that NATO would bolster the alliance's eastern flank. It wasn't immediately clear if that would entail establishing permanent NATO bases on Polish soil.

Fantastic. Macierewicz seems hell bent on bringing war to Poland one way or another.

And to make matters worse, our counter-terrorism skills are woeful compared to Germany or the UK.

Is that his idea or is that PiS official policy. If so, what assurances and what guarantees they got?

hell bent

Hell bent on bolstering the coalition to exterminte ISIS once and for all. It has become plainly evident that individual air strikes won't change much. Only a coordinated, all-out effort including land forces (hasn't Iraq proposed to offer its troops for that?) can wipe out that plague. It's good Arabic speakers may be in the front line of house by house searches and raids on ISIS strongholds. It's easier for them to infiltrate enemy ranks.

What in this for Poland?

A heightened risk of terrorism, more danger for Poles abroad in tourist resorts and not much else.

Joining an anti-ISIS coalition in exchange for a substantial and permanent NATO base somewhere east of Łodź, I could perhaps understand. But joining it based on SLD-era 'let's cuddle up to the Yanks in exchange for...nothing' is madness.

Merged: Polish fighters to patrol airspace over Syria - comments

article by Warsaw Voice

Polish fighters to patrol airspace over Syria

Poland will send four of its F-16 jet fighters to patrol airspace over Syria, according to declaration by National Security Bureau (BBN).

The Polish fighters would be equipped with reconnaissance equipment and could be used to provide targets for other aircrafts.

Last time I heard that nonsense was denied. Hopefully that won't happen. Syria is a mess, it's a playground for global and regional powers and there's no good guys to help there. Even Kurds (although seems to be the best out of these various fractions and tribes) are far from being saint. Besides, I wouldn't be surprised if "allies" tried to push us there into some conflict with Russians operating in that area and that's the last thing we need now.

It's all about the NATO base, nothing more.

Quite why inviting people in that part of the world to hate us is a good idea, I don't know.

i don`t like this development. To involve Poland in Syria at the moment when Turkey publicly announcing its intention for invasion. Horror. See, that is how Anglo works. They know that Poland and Russia have fragile relations, that they are in the same time strategically connected (even in antagonized relationship existence of Russia provide strategic balance for existence of Poland) and that they share its Slavic heritage. So, Anglos think- put Poland in sh** and let Slavs destroy each others when things turns ugly. Brilliant stratagems.

i think that is Poland just rewarded for refusal to blindly follow NATO and EU. Many nice things yet to come.

Somebody on this forum once said that would full independence of Poland from EU/NATO require price in blood. i believed that it won`t come to this. But, with time i am less and less optimistic. Leading NATO and EU powers hold Poland so strongly.

i know that. Its their doing. They puling their strings within Poland. They demonstrate divisions within Poland, within PiS, between PiS and opposition, they ridiculing president of Poland.

You remember that incident with NATO intelligence office, some time ago? It was slap in their face but, they have their man within. Man, strong enough to secure sending of Polish fighters in Turkey now. Man, strong enough to prevent Poland`s strengthening and independence. Simple, they can stop Poland. Cancel it.

They already did it to my country

The Islamic State militant group (ISIS) has some 11,000 blank Syrian passports that could be used to provide fake identities for jihadists, German authorities believe.
"Developments in connection with the refugee situation have shown that terrorist organisations are using the opportunity to (smuggle) potential attackers or supporters into Europe and Germany undetected," a spokeswoman for the federal police told the newspaper.

Fake or altered passports are mostly used for illegal entry.
I applaud Poland for standing their ground from being "forced" to take in any and all of these people to potentially endanger Polish citizens and the country of Poland like the rest of Europe has invited.

Keep Poland Polish !
