Head of Poland's Supreme Court Gersdorf charged with corruption

Małgorzata Gersdorf, head of the Supreme court, is banging on about democracy as well as free and independent courts and virulently attacking PiS, but the real reason has become obvious. PO had no hangups about sweepng it all under the carpet, but with PIS oen never knows. She was charged with corruption in 2012-2014, but President Komorowski had the charges dropped in 2015 while still in office so he he could get her appointed. The charges were not important, What counted was to have "our woman" strategically placed at a time when the PiS victory appeared quite likely. PO had also stacked the Constitutional Tribunal with its appointees, hoping to knock down any legislation PiS managed to pass.

So the "total opposition's" rogues' gallery has expanded to include Pani Pierwsza Sędzia Małgorzata.

She was charged with corruption in 2012-2014

Interesting to see how fast the PiSlamic State drop the presumption of innocence when it suits them.

The charges were not important

Clearly they are not, all that matters to the PiSlamic State is that they were levelled at a political opponent of First Secretary Kaczynski. Of course, once First Secretary Kaczynski has taken control of the courts, he'll be able to ensure that convictions follow in any case where he wants them to. At the moment he can only have guilty verdicts handed down by independent courts voided by his trusty servant in the President's palace.

PO had also stacked the Constitutional Tribunal with its appointees, hoping to knock down any legislation PiS managed to pass.

I wonder if you are ever going to learn that simply repeating a lie which you heard on Radio Maybach no more makes it true than having the lies of the Party published in the Podunk County Polish Pig Farmer's Gazette did.

repeating a lie

You're the one who's got a problem with that, constantly repeating the same old lies which nobody ever believed in the first place. Because everybody considers the source, and if the source is the forum's Liar Laureate.....well, draw your own conclusions!

Naaah, I don't believe it! In Poland of all places??!

Remember that the last time First Secretary Kaczynski held power he arranged for charges to be brought against one of the senior figures in his own government? It later turned out that the minions he had ordered to arrange those charges had broken the law while setting up the operation and one of them was sentenced to years in prison for abuse of his power. The reaction of First Secretary Kaczynski to that was ordering his puppet to pardon the convicted, and self-confessed, criminal so that man could once again hold the powers that an independent court had convicted him of abusing. This is just one of the reasons that it is so vital that the courts in Poland continue to be independent and not 100% controlled by the PiSlamic State.

ordering his puppet

Just as Komorowski had corruption charges against Gersdorf dropped and appointed her to head the Supreme Court, knowing he and his scamster camp would have a loyal servant for the duration. BTW tell us how many tmes the Supreme Court refused to withdraw the immuntiy of PRL holdover judges who didn't just apply (like you claim KAczyński did) but actually sent dissidents and Solidarityity activists to jail? They had no business adjudicating in free Poland but the High Court saved their a*se. And this is the kind of scum you are defending? Shame on you! Go back where you came from. There's much more of your beloved multi-culti back home in Britistan.

bill demolishing the indpendence

Duda's move was a straightforward stroke of genius which even Schetyna nad Petru have welcomed. And a way out of the clinch. Requiring a 3/5 majority to appoint KRS memberst means no single party can appoint them without the cooperaiton of other parties.

the courts in Poland continue to be independent

Independent of public scrutiny, above the law, inept, sluggish, ineffective, self-serving and controlled by the post-commie hand-washes-hand mafia which protects PRL judges who sent dissidents to jail not only from prosecution but even from losing theri jobs. The exisitng judiciary is one of the nastiest professional communiies in Poland and warrants a thorough-going sanacja which is fortunately indeed now taking place.

BTW wannabe plastic-card Pollack -- do you know what Ciamajdan means?

I suspect they'll try this quite a bit in the months before they fall.
