Poland's Guy Fawkes

So, the cops here have arrested a guy who apparently wanted to blow up the Polish parliament and the President too.

He was involved with a group & they were armed, cops found TNT, bullet-proof vests etc at his apartment and he had carried out some text explosions.

Fuq in Hell, this is madness.

This is going to be interesting to say the least. Hope he's hanged, let's go old-school on the b@stard.

I'm sure Tusk will make the most of this case. Need I remind you that it is all speculations, he did nothing and as far as I can tell his planes where pretty unlikely to come even close to fruition.

Given the way PO propaganda spin it I think it is worthy to remember that one real victim of political extremists was PiS politician killed by PO member or ex-member. Somehow I do see Tusk taking responsibility for his propaganda of blaming everything on opposition.

Isn't it the news that aims to cover up the possible failure of the eurosummit on the EU budget to be held on Thursday and Fiday in Brussels? Tusk will eventually return from the summit with nothing of the sort he has promised to win for Poland, so concentrating on the fact that the government was highly effective in preventing a Guy Fawkes day in Poland instead seems to be a clever political option for the Civic Platform in the present harsh circumstances for the European budget.

All of this story is little fishy. All we know for now is that some guy (wiht PhD) in Kraków was a collector of the old guns, uniforms etc.

They also show videos from "test detonations" apparently found on his computer. And now the punch line - the videos are more than 10 years old!

Er, the reality is that he had four tons of explosives, plus detonators, fuses and other bomb-making materials. But good to see you coming here and getting the lies in early.

Harry, you're the only person with sense on this forum, I really don't know why I bother coming here anymore.

That should ring alarm bells, people with an unhealthy interest in guns and wars are a touch odd to most.

And here's a shocker: he was driven by nationalism and anti-semitism!

Polish officials said on Tuesday they had arrested a radical nationalist who planned to detonate a vehicle loaded with four tonnes of explosives outside parliament, possibly when the president and prime minister were in the building.

The suspected plot was the first of its kind to be exposed since Poland threw off Communist rule more than 20 years ago. It is likely to put intense scrutiny on radical right-wing groups in Poland which are fiercely opposed to the liberal government.

Polish television, citing sources close to the investigation, said the suspect planned to copy methods used by Anders Behring Breivik, who killed 77 people in bomb and gun attacks in Norway last year and said he was driven by far-right views.

Wonder how the nutty Cross Crew are going to spin this.

A real Guy Fawkes, this man. Four tons of explosives were to be planted at the building of the Seym at its plenary session when voting the next year's budget, with the PM, the President and the entire government present at it. The man has been described by the prosecutors as nationalistic, xenophobic and racist since he was describing people governing Poland as "obcy" and not "true Poles".

Anyway, it seems that Poland is more than 400 years behind Britain in trying to do this sort of trick to her Houses of Parliament!

Agree. The place of the old guns and military equipment is in the museum, not in the private flat. But as for now - being an eccentric is not yet punishable by law in Poland. :)

I watched the press conference.
They showed pictures of some old guns (Russian TT and something that look like old FP-45 Liberator). Also some old mobile phones. And a lot of cables.

And these 10-year old video of explosion.
More news:
- They found 4tons. But not explosives, but artificial fertilizer. And this man worked for Agricultural University so...
- The video of explosion may be related to the other job this man held - and that is the sapper techiques seminars for Polish Army.

Right now the guy (dr Brunon K.) is arrested under suspicion of possession of unregistered historic firearms (punishable for up to 5 years in prison).
If they would accuse him of the terrorists plot - this may be a very hard case to proof in the Court of Law.

So many of these 40+ years old in Poland, have been starved of their real history for so long, I guess when some of them understand they have been reared on lies and illusions, it can evoke anger- surely they must realise without Poland's free market reforms, they would still be in the dark mushroom patch.

Funny thing - It seems that dr Brunon K is a part of "terrorist conspiracy". Apart from him - all the other members of the evil network were the ABW (Internal Security Agency) officers. And that makes all this story no more than Special Services publicity stunt.

Not explosives? Why not try explaining to the families of the 168 people killed and the 680 injured in the Oklahoma City bombing that fertilizer is not an explosive. I'm sure that at least one of them will ensure that we never again have to read the utter rubbish you post here.

Oh, and the nutty professor had double the amount of material used in the Oklahoma City bombing.

Funnier thing is why you think that you can get away with coming here and telling us lies:

Two others working with him were also arrested for the illegal possession of weapons and two more have been questioned.

It's also sad to see people who really should know better still spouting those same lies Poles were fed for so long.

I don't personally know any members of these families. But if they ask me, I would gladly explain to them, that the fertiliser may be used as an explosive. But mainly - it just a fertilizer. And it is hardly a shocking news that the man who work for the Agricultural University and specialize in fertilizers has got an access to them.

Its also not unusual to store 4 freaking tons of that at home...

As I understood the news - this man has got access to 4tons of fertilisers. Taking under consideration his daily work as an Agricultural researcher - nothing unusual, if may I say.

As any good man would gladly agree - we have got every instrument needed to perform a rape. So what?
Maybe we shall put all men in prison and outlaw the farms?

Andreas Breivik also was innocent until he went ape. The rest of the story we know.
It is only a matter of time until the extreme-right nutters here in Poland follow his example.

A real Guy Fawkes, this man.

I did suggest to the newsroom that they run the line "Guy Fawkski" but it got vetoed...

No doubt Bob will nick the line for use in his piece about the misguided patriot for the Polonia Gentleman Pig Farmer's Gazette or whoever actually let him write for them.

No personal names without consent please.

He has had accumulated tons of explosives, detonators, guns, and lots of other equipment in his apartment and the threat was credible. A ready-to-explode vehicle contained 4 tons of explosives. The assassin was working hard to recruit accomplices. He has already confessed.

His name is Dr Brunon Kwiecień (45 years) and he is an analytic chemist from the Agricultural University in Krakow.

No Polish-language reliable sources confirmed these allegations.

Most of them confirm that he had explosives, had made explosive tests, was posting stuff on forums.
Which allegations are you referring to?
Sources should be questioned, I agree.

work?

cops found TNT

Did they find TNT six months ago? If not, they lie, it takes six months to determine what it was, it could have been tent, cosmetics, etc.

They found hexogen, pentryt, TNT, gunpowder and video tapes of his test explosions.

I doubt he did that with some camping equipment and lipstick :)

The prosecution knows who inspired action K. Bruno, but for obvious reasons, does not disclose that person. - This is a well-known person, because it is listed by name of a suspect. Therefore, we control the situation -

Onet

So anyone care to throw wild and wonderful accusations?
