The first PiS led government in 2005 lasted just over 2 years in Poland.

@Harry
You're referring to Michnik's father, I presume. And excellent example of commie totalitarianism evolving into non-Marxist Trotzkyite dogmatism. He's every bit as dogmatic as old man Szechter: "If you don't reocgnise my wisdom and authority, you are a fascist, anti-Semite, bigot or fool." That narrastion constantly emerges from Michnik's newspaper and utterances. It's his way or nothing.

for the nation to recover?

It may well take this entire term if not more for Poland to recover from 8 years of Platformer scamsterism. But as Poles say: Przetrwaliśmy szwaba, przetrwaliśmy Ruska, przetrwamy i Tuska! (rush ot Google translate!)

Meanwhile, more good changes are on the way. PiS want to limit mayors to two terms in office to prevent the emergence of the kind of local oligarchic dynasties which rule in many parts ofthe coutnry. Also ballot boxes are to be transparent to prevent pre-stuffed ones arriving at polling stations and monitoring cameras are to be found in every polling station. The losers' camp are prepared to rig elections, violate every regulation and stop at nothing to get back on the gravy train so such precautions are necessary.

Chairman Kaczynski

KACZYŃSKI THE WNNER OF THE PARLIAMENTARY CRISIS
Jarosław Kaczyński, the head of the governing Law and Justice (PiS) party is considered the real winner of a recent parliamentary conflict, according to a poll.

A third of those polled said that Kaczyńśki won the standoff, resulting in the opposition parties on Thursday suspending the sit-in protest which had lasted since 16 December.

Meanwhile PiS managed to vote a controversial budget bill through the lower house and the Senate, before being signed by Polish President Andrzej Duda on Friday.

The poll was conducted by the private Radio Zet, and the public TVP broadcaster.
Opposition leaders Grzegorz Schetyna (Civic Platform, PO), and Paweł Kukiz (Kukiz'15) were next in the ranking with 11.4 percent and 7.9 percent respectively.

Who dares oppose the supreme authority of the land ---- the party leader?

PiS managed to vote a controversial budget bill

Illegally, but who cares? Only those of us who respect the rule of law.... (which no longer exists in Poland).

Wanna bet how many "honourable" opposition MPs voluntarily forego their salaries and parliamentary expense allowance because the budget is illegal? (LOL!)

PiS want to limit mayors to two terms in office to prevent the emergence of the kind of local oligarchic dynasties which rule in many parts ofthe coutnry.

In reality its so people can't vote more than twice for candidates The Dear Leader Chairman Kaczynski doesn't want them to vote for. At this point one should note that The Dear Leader Chairman Kaczynski was recently 're-elected', unopposed, to a fifth consecutive term in office.

ballot boxes are to be transparent to prevent pre-stuffed ones arriving at polling stations

All that is needed to ensure that boxes are not pre-stuffed is to have them inspected by and then sealed in front of independent observers. The only possible reason for having transparent boxes to make sure that people are putting their X into the approved box.

The losers' camp are prepared to rig elections, violate every regulation and stop at nothing to get back on the gravy train

Any proof of your allegations? Or is evidence no longer required in the post-truth PiSlamic State where the media of the Party alters reality to suit the wishes of The Dear Leader Chairman Kaczynski? We can all see the illegal actions of the members of the PiSlamic State and the way that more than a thousand of them have wedged their snouts into the trough. How about you present some evidence to support your claims? Or is the problem that we are just dealing with yet more invisible police attack dogs which only the Faithful can see?

Term limits for thee...... chairmanship for life for me! Do you expect anything _but_ rampant hypocrisy from JK?

because the budget is illegal

at least you admit it!

No, that's what the losers' camp claim, but they will eagerly grab what they can for themselves -- legal or not. The pious platitudes are for the rabble, the big bucks for the political rebels.

Poland can actually afford

Poland have survived the krauts and rooskies, and under the rule of the post-Magdalenka clique -- the KORites, banksters, ex-commies and PO scmasters, all of whom promoted foreign-interest groups instead of their own country. At long last we now have a group of sterling patriots at the helm who are for a free and sovereign Poland first, last and always.

a group of sterling patriots

Sterling patriots don't volunteer to persecute people for an oppressive regime; a number of senior members of the PiSlamic State did precisely that. It's just one example of the stench of hypocrisy that surrounds PIS and any attempt they make to govern.

a free and sovereign Poland

In a free country there is respect for the rule of law; in the PiSlamic State even the most basic law, the Constitution of Poland, is ignored any time that suits The Dear Leader Chairman Kaczynski. But the good news is that the PiSlamic State will fall, almost certainly at the next election, if Poland is to be allowed elections again by the PiSlamic State, and then The Dear Leader Chairman Kaczynski and his minions will answer under Polish law for their crimes against the fine country of Poland.

Recent poll showing PIS still has strong support at 37%, nearest is PO on 16%. Biggest loser was Petru whose party were down 5 points from last. The problem for the opposition is a lot of PIS manifesto and plans since then appeal to the lower income and religious classes, large portions of the population. Its possible that the global economy will experience a downturn which may drag the Polish economy down with it, but its difficult to see a severe drop in GDP without it, so opposition is going to have to find its own popular policies if they want to get anwhere near PIS. The next election, even though years away, is too close to bridge that gap unless PIS falls foul to scandal, something that the opposition cant seem to stay clear off.

crimes against the fine country of Poland

Crimes against the Polish natrion were committed by the Nazis, Soviets, their PRL stooges and the post-PRL Magdalenka clique. The Polish voter has seen through them and will not be duped into re-electing them ever again. Full stop!

Crimes against the Polish natrion were committed by ... their PRL stooges

You mean such as the men who, in the same way as The Dear Leader Chairman Kaczynski, volunteered to prosecute the political enemies of the Party.

will not be duped into re-electing them ever again.

You finally got something right. Of course the PiSlamic State are well aware of that problem, which is why they have already start the process of fixing any future elections.

oppressive regime

No formation has more ex-SB agents,SB informers, foremr PZPR members and assorted academic and celebrity collaborators and fellow travellers than PO and KOD. One has to scrounge to find such people (eg Piotrowicz) in PiS when they're two a penny in the opposition ranks.

they're two a penny in the opposition ranks.

Of course there are lots of former PZPR people in Polish politics: at its peak the Party could boast that close to 18% of those eligible to join had made the effort to join, just as now the new Party under the benevolent guardianship of The Dear Leader Chairman Kaczynski can boast that 18% of those eligible to do so had actually voted for the Party. The small difference is that PIS claim to be vehemently opposed to former commie collaborators when in reality they are led by one and more than happy to accept others who bow down to and are useful to The Dear Leader Chairman Kaczynski.

Of course that usefulness test can be a barrier to some, those for whom the PIS government has no use; one thinks of that poor gentleman who spent most of his professional life as a paid shill for the PZPR, faithfully trotting out the Party line in the likes of Western Pennsylvania Polish Pig Farmers' Quarterly, and who now cannot find work with the PiSlamic State.

Not in Polish politics but in tdoay's opposition ranks. No amount of glib circumlocutions and blanket accusations can change the fact that the PO and KOD HAS THE MOST FORMER SB AGENTS AND PAID INFORMERS, EX-PZPR MEMBERS AND ASSORTED COLLABROATORS WITH THE PRL REGIME. EX-SB AGENTS DID NOT MARCH ARM N ARM WITH KACZYŃSKI TO THE LATESTS SMOLENSK ONBSERVANCE, BUT THEY DID WITH SCHETYNA. KIJOWSKI AND PETRU. KIJOWSKI ACTUALLY EXPRESSED HIS GRATITUDE TO THE SB FOR PROTECTING SOCIETY.

Are either of those led by a former PRL collaborator? The PiSlamic State is led by one, and no amount of furious typing from anybody will change that simple fact.

the Sodomists Society.

How surprising to see you resorting to off-topic ad hom trolling, but I suppose that when the facts are so badly against you you have nothing left.

Pot kettle black

Not at all, I'm more than happy to debate the facts. In this case the fact is very simply that a party which won the same votes of the same percentage of eligible Poles as the percentage of eligible Poles who joined the communist party is led by a man who volunteered to prosecute the political enemies of that party and who is so hypocritical that he wants to ban mayors from serving more than two terms while he himself was recently 're-elected' unopposed to a fifth term in office. No wonder you want to stick purely to off-topic ad hom trolling.

former PRL collaborator

Every PRL citizen was a PZPR collabroator whether he wanted to be or not.
Every employee of a PZPR-run hospital, library, school. factory, shop, etc. was a de facto collaborator. Private farmers forced to provide produce to the state also collaborated. But some collaborated actively and consciously such as Jacek Kuroń assigned to destroy the patriotic Polish scouting movement and Tadeusz Mazowiecki sent to the Vatican to supply dirt on Cardinal Wyszyński. Others included PZPR member Balcerowicz and Rzepliński,, SB informers Komorowski (codenamed Litwin), Wałęsa (Bolek), Tusk (Oskar) and many, many more. Funny anyone should harp solely on someone who simply applied but was not accepted and therefore could do not harm. That apparently is the hairy sense of fairness.

When the only way you can defend The Dear Leader Chairman Kaczynski and official members of the PIS government is to claim that Pope John Paul II was a PZPR collaborator, you are in danger of tunneling your way past rock bottom. I'd strongly suggest that you never tell any Pole that you believe Pope John Paul II was a PZPR collaborator, that's probably fighting talk as far as some of them are concerned.

Western Pennsylvania Polish Pig Farmers' Quarterly

I'd be amazed to hear that there is a publication by that name, let alone that a PF member writes for such a niche publication. If you are familiar with the paper, if it exists, perhaps you could advise as to their views on the PIS regime. One would have to assume that they are deeply impressed with the way that more than a thousand members of the PiSlamic State have wedged their snouts so deeply and quickly into the trough, have they run any pieces on what pig farmers can learn from the PIS regime?

Pope John Paul II

10% of the RC clergy were like Walęsa, Mazowiecki, Wielowieyski, Tusk and Komorowski -- signers of loyalty declarations SB informers.
But JP2 and all the bishops and clergy were forced to function within bounds delimited by the Soviet-installed regime. Many found ways of circumventing the restricitons like facing the regime with fait accompli churches.

You've referred to it often enough, once again re-entrenching your undisputed title of PF's LL. But your desperate attempts to implicate Kaczyński has you talking out of the side of your mouth, twisting, distorting and making things up -- and that's what you're best at. BTW self-declared sodomist is not ad hom trolling but merely reaffirming your own public admisison on the forum . Every PFer can corroborate that.

No doubt the PiSlamic State will decide which 10% that was, just as they tried to do with Walesa and Tusk. I am sure I'm not the only person who finds it utterly hilarious to watch an organisation which is led by a man who unquestionably volunteered to prosecute dissidents during the commie era, a fact confirmed by even his own brother in a book approved by both twins, desperately trying to smear globally respected Poles who actually did what The Dear Leader Chairman Kaczynski wishes he'd done.

But JP2 and all the bishops and clergy were forced to function within bounds delimited by the Soviet-installed regime.

You didn't claim that, you claimed he was a "PZPR collabroator", a claim up there with invisible attack dogs, the EU forcibly micro-chipping babies and the 18% regime being made up of Polish patriots when it comes to laughability.

PIS still has strong support at 37%

Support for the PiS govenrment is at its hightest level ever according to CBOS.
39% support the present government, up from 37% in December. CBOS noted that support for the government has been increasing from September when it stood at 34%.Simultaneously, the precentage of government opponetns has declined from 34% in December to 32% at present. The percentage of indiffernt respondents has climned from 24 to 26%.

Tjhe bottom line is that KACZYŃSKI HAS WON YET ANOTHER BATTLE OF THE POLISH-POLISH WAR, leaving the lame oppositon in disarray and confusion. It also proves the Polish nation knows something PF's rabid PiS-bashers have missed!

There's an excellent article here by numerous contributors, somewhat lengthy but well worth reading:

politico.eu/article/poland-democracy-failing-pis-law-and-justice-media-rule-of-law

By the way Polly you didn't mention that the same poll found that 48% of those surveyed were not happy with the performance of the present government in economic matters.
