Hi all, I have the feeling that after the re election of Dnoland tusk (PO) and with the arrival of the RP party Janusz Palikot denouncing the church "mafia" and defending the rights about sexual and ethnic minority groups, Poland is politically changing fast.
I am personnaly happy about this change although i do not vote in Poland, what's your feed back about the PR?
He is a populist who represents the face of a change that he'd like to see, not one that is actually happening to any significant extent. The idiocy of saying that Poland is changing because 'one man and his dildo' champions certain causes is staggering. Without his wealth, he'd be an absolute nobody. Opinions are like arses in that everyone has one. His view is no better or worse than the average Pole's.
What's worse is that the people he will bring with him into parliament are unknown random opportunists. Do they even have an opinion on anything else than church and gay rights? Again, Samoobrona is back.
I think you are right, My Mom. Besides, politicians should only serve as a minor watchdog on the church. They should ensure that the law is upheld but not much beyond that. Gay rights are dealt with by EU Law which automatically supercedes Polish domestic law, see Costa VS ENEL 1964. It's not even strictly Palikot's job to ensure their observance, the police should be doing that. He's an idiot seeking out a role which he'll probably never have. PO are in power and that's the end of story for now.
the major thing is Polish state is really paying into the RCC (and to a lesser extent other churches) - I don't think Jarosław Kaczyński and most PiS politicians really think it is the way it should be so - but they will defend it not to alienate a big part of their electorate - PO will not target this church funding in the coming time untill the next elections - they will most probably have to raise taxes - create the tax on real estate based on its market value (podatek katastralny) but they won't target the money paid to the RCC (mainly in the form of financing religion classes in schools)
religion should not be banned from public discourse - the state should just not finance it - pretty simple i guess
actually what RCC does not realize probably is that religion classes in school DO backfire on them - and well - do I really mind - RCC is a perversion of the Christ teaching anyway
anyway - no religion in schools, no state funding of clergy retirees, investigation into the 'return of church property' and there is actually no room for Palikot anymore
The idiocy of saying that Poland is changing because 'one man and his dildo' champions certain causes is staggering.
Well Seanus I may be an idiot but if the existence itself of a party such as the RCC( i am not saying those people would have any chance to rule the country of course but as a counter power ,it is not bad) is not a change for Poland what is it then?
Change comes from the people. Palikot only got 10% of the vote, largely young folk. Demographically, Poland has many many old people so how representative is this man in all honesty? He comes across a bit better in the interview above, mind you.
telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/poland/8817279/Transsexual-poised-for-seat-in-Polands-new-parliament.html - Transsexual poised for seat in Poland's new parliament
And this happened in the ultra-traditional and Catholic Krakow! Strange.
Anecdotal evidence, anyone? I know at least two people who are well versed in politics and they are pro-Palikot. What now?
have you fallen for Palikot Magda? and well what do you mean by well versed in politics? that they can read a newspaper? I know plenty of people who cannot actually and they are hmm sort of educated people
RPP is the new Samoobrona. They are clowns and were voted for by teenagers.
This guy is mentally-challenged. Or with "learning difficulties" (in the official UK language). Retarded - to say it in the old-fashioned way. Making fun of him is wrong on many levels.
I know 8 people for whom the one and only problem of Poland is the church (Catholic church because the other religions are cool, of course) - basically they have no opinion on anything else. They all voted for Palikot. Great, we wil have 40 MP's keeping an eye on the church, day and night
The problem is not the Church itself. Or religion. The problem is money. From 1 to 5 mld PLN per year paid by taxpayer.
The aim for the Church is to own 400000 ha of land. Right now they get 65 537 ha of land from the Gevernment and 71 366ha of former military lands. (and counting)
There are regions in Poland, where the Catholic Church is the main political and economical power.
