No. There's no such thing as "too effective". It either works well or not. And in Britain it doesn't. But it keeps the best individuals, the strongest personalities who can't put up with madness of the British school away from teaching - it's true. It deprives children of having educators who are capable of enriching children's lives - it's true.

Anyway one of my kids' primary schools had a dreadful old pervert in charge of residential trips... and girls' dancing...and P.E.....and no CRB check would have picked him up because he was too clever to have been caught...:) (oh he was a scout leader too)

After enough parents complained about him he was forced to retire, I expect he went straight to Poland or the Czech republic what with all that teaching experience...:)

I meant that the policy doesn't really protect children from abusers but it does put many good people off teaching.

You don't think this happens in other countries? You are sadly deluded. At least Britain is starting to address these issues, rather than sweeping them under the carpet.

In Scotland I used to work as a kids' entertainer. I was chatting to another entertainer, who was a former cop. I asked him if his 'police' status got him more work and he said it did, because people felt inclined to trust him more. He also commented that one entertainer lost a lot of work because a kid once said, "Oh, I like Uncle X because he lets you sit on his knee!" Word went around and his bookings dropped. Thing is, it could have been totally innocent but in today's climate nobody takes a chance...

Ultimately we don't know whether he is innocent or guilty until he has been to trial. No doubt it will be reported in the press.

Weird thing is that I once worked as Santa Claus (the real one was busy, so he asked me to stand in, kiddies!). We were expressly told not to touch the kids or let them sit on your knee. It was the adults who kept insisting to the kids to sit on our knees! Never let them, tho'!

Law enforcement have become much more clever in catching these pervs than they did seven years ago.
I laugh when I see an obvious post by L.E. to bait a perv with yet some of these scum still fall for them and get themselves arrested.

I saw a post a few days ago on face book from a mother that posted how the family was going on an out of town trip for a week but would be leaving their 14 year old daughter at home by herself (with a sexy picture of daughter) because she didn't want to go.

Now that was one naïve mother but most likely a cop baiting a perv.


Not in this day and age as all a parent has to do is cry some b.s. to the authorities, no matter how innocent and your life is ruined.

If so what is the name of such authority ?
