You are SOOOO wrong...the 'division' of labor has NOT been as you state throughout pre-history!!!
American Indian Tribes- imparticular- and still to this day...encourage the natural talent of each individual and they are NOT THE ONLY CULTURE TO DO THIS!!!!!

Many men are chefs..my spouse cooks in the home...BECAUSE HE IS A BETTER COOK!!!!
I choose to work also, ...it relieves his stress and financial burden and hopefully allows him a longer life with me because of the reduced stress!!!

Our children and grandchildren see him as a strong, caring man.
(we have been together for over 35 years and i would never trade him for one who thought i should be barefoot and pregnant all the time, besides i was a ***** when i was pregnant-who would want to live with that hormonal angst for years?)

You are WRONG i have had a full share PARTNERSHIP, it is lovely, fulfilling for both.

I think we really oughta to return to a house model where the man works and the woman takes care of the house and the children.

it sounds nice but there's a reason most people don't live that way anymore. like anything else, it comes down to money.

the middle class especially is and has been deteriorating which is why one middle class salary cannot support a family anymore. the days of "Daddy is a fireman and mommy is home washing dishes with a bun in the oven" are over. people aren't making conscious decisions not to live like that, they simply can't swing it on single income.

I mean, why would anyone

anyone? oh I don't know, what about women ages 18-25 that have no interest in children yet and need money to....uhhmmm.....eat and stuff. how about when she's already had her children and they're all in school? for a 35 year old woman with 2 kids, both old enough to get on a bus and go to school, what lies ahead for her if she doesn't work? some may enjoy just sitting at home, but to question why anyone would opt to go to work is a bit extreme, no?

You are SOOOO wrong...the "division" of labor has NOT been as you state throughout pre-history!

This is what liberals actually want you to believe. Once you've forgotten everything about the past, you'll be easy prey for the economic predator. (If that weren't true, why would they be so busy trying to revise the English language if not to raise yet another barrier between new generations and the past?)

Successful propaganda campaigns are easy stuff when you control most of what comes out of Hollywood and the toobs and presses. Most people are too damn stupid to analyze anything rationally. All you need to do is to implant a mental image that's associated with some positive or negative emotion. Two of them and she's finished.

Show a man being repressive and nasty to his wife. Just about every woman in the country watching the tube will think to herself: "Ya knooooww... My John is really like that sometimes. He really is. That tube really knows what it's talking about. I really should get a divorce and find my own destiny!"

Show an independent sexy "has-it-all" career woman smiling away in her exciting freedom and work. The reaction: "Ya knooooowww... That's really what I ought to be doin'! Looks so much more fun than this taking care of children business."

Never mind that both "images" are much closer to fantasy than reality in most cases.

And so the government has doubled its tax animal slave force, the family has been destroyed and we're a step closer to a new worldwide communist utopia with only the obligatory rivers of blood part left for us to wade through.

Wake the **** up.

it sounds nice but there's a reason most people don't live that way anymore. like anything else, it comes down to money

They couldn't defeat retarded hippy and pseudo-communist movements so they simply integrated them into their machine, "freeing" women from household chores and sending them off to work simply provided the average household with an increased wallet to spend on stuff.

Suddenly, every family needed two cars. We all need more TVs, and those families that actually tried to save their money found that prices simply increased since no rich fat cat is going to allow the average family to suddenly save a second source of income.

So now women are doomed to work and slave away at jobs they don't really want to do.

Woman tractor drivers were a Stalinist propaganda ploy, but people were so underpaid in PRL and CCCP that one pay packet was not enough to even get by.

So now women are doomed to work and slave away at jobs they don't really want to do.

As if men weren't in exactly the same boat, chained to a mindless drudgery to afford the pointless sh!t they don't need.

You're right that TV sells fantasies to women, but it sells them to men and children too. And 50 years ago it sold a previous fantasy; that women should be at home next to the New Improved WonderCook 2000 with built in Waffle Iron, only $99.99.

For centuries women have worked; every cobbler had a wife who sewed the leather, every baker had a wife who scoured the ovens or manned the shop tills, every farmer's wife pulled her own weight on the land, because for millenia there had never been enough affluence for idleness. It's only in the past century that certain economies have become wealthy enough to offer the fairer sex a relatively "easy" life at home with the kids, and this image of the stay-at-home mother is very much the exception than the norm. When marriage was a business transaction between families, no husband would take on a talentless wife without a significant payoff from the bride's parents, and history is littered with those sagas; Iceland's Story of Burnt Njal is a good place to start.

It seems you're the one who's forgotten everything about the past.

Oh dear Polonius... your history knowledge is lacking, yet again.

Wages were never much of an issue in those times - it was the access to goods that was the problem.

Exactly THIS. I'm glad I'm not alone thinking that! :-)
