In the summer of 2005, testing of the new rifle began. The Bor was first unveiled at the 12th International Defense Industry Exhibition MSPO in September 2005 in Kielce. The weapon then went into production in 2006, when a short series was made.

The Bor is a bullpup-configuration bolt-action magazine-fed sniper rifle.

Hmm, this is interesting. Actually, since Poland is in NATO there is no real need to quickly bulk up its military as NATO would back Poland up. However we need to strengthen our economy greatly, and then yes strengthen our military. Secondly, Eastern Europe needs to push the U.S to build those missile shields so the U.S will have a REASON to back Poland up and protect her borders. As we've learned from the way Britain and France "helped" us in ww2, its all just paper. If U.S shields are stationed in Poland and they are threatened by Russia then of course the U.S would send tremendous military aid to Poland. Poland is doing great in my opinion, its economy is very strong considering that it achieved it in 21 years. Remember that during communism there was utter poverty in Poland, and it was even WORSE in countries like Romania etc...

Now, about the war in Georgia, I'm not an expert on it but in my opinion Russia was acting aggressively. Ossetia is a part of Georgia however there were a lot of problems in the Ossetia region. Now I don't really know about what exactly was going on in Ossetia, but Georgia wants to join NATO, but it can't unless it gets Ossetia under control. Russia is of course opposed to Georgia being in NATO for obvious reasons. But I don't think Russia has any right to enter Ossetia.

U.S will not send any troops, you can't send what you do not have with war in Iraq and Afghanistan and bombing Pakistan soon to be in war with Iran Poland again will be left alone.

Russia just protected people from Georgian army, of course U.S. news agency do not report what actually happen hell the news agencies do not report what is happening in U.S.

Hmm, this is interesting. Actually, since Poland is in NATO there is no real need to quickly bulk up its military as NATO would back Poland up.

Would it? How is 2010 different from 1939? The first guarantee of safety is the safety we can provide for ourselves by ourselves, papers and declarations dont fight wars, soldiers do.

However we need to strengthen our economy greatly, and then yes strengthen our military.

Whats stopping us from strengthening our economy and our military simoultaneusly?

Secondly, Eastern Europe needs to push the U.S to build those missile shields so the U.S will have a REASON to back Poland up and protect her borders.

What would that reason be? To protect several Patriot batteries? Also how would US protect Poland? Its physically unable to send troops and its not going to nuke Russia over Poland either.

then of course the U.S would send tremendous military aid to Poland.

When and in what way did US help Poland in any fashion? They gave us two frigates semi-free because they would have to scrap them, they sold us F-16s at top market price, they're completely unwilling to share technologies or trade with us for any but the top prices and they continously pressure us to buy their used junk for the prices of new equipment.

No U.S would never send any military aid to Poland, if anything it'd let Poland fall and send said aid to Germany which in american eyes is a much more important partner, we're (Poland) not a partner, we're an asset.

in my opinion Russia was acting aggressively.

Both Russia and Georgia were with the difference that Russia had a punch behind the fist.

How is the taste of the Russian ass, Brastburst boy. You are a boy :) Keep on licking, good job.

The fact is your inept goverment can't sort Ukraine out, Poles had high hopes for Ukraine but after the Orange Revolution your country is actually worse off than it was, your economy is shrinking, your govt can't sort its sh*t out, Poland beings to see Ukraine as a failed investment.

Your economy is shrinking annually by 10%-20% for the third year now, your mafia governed oil companies devolved into chaos and your govt alternates between running like a headless chicken and being run by a russian embassy in Kiev, strong Ukraine eh Nathan?

Wonder how long with your country last.

Money!

Germany just announced cutting back on the Defense budget, disbanding 400.000 people, closing of barracks...even thinking loudly about the abolition of the national service (after it was cut down to 6 month now already).

Going on with this pace we will have no army left in 5 years.
Even for Germany the military has become a to expensive, expendable luxury...I wonder how Poland will handle a build up of their own military.

Not really we might not be Fort Knox but there's stuff we can afford, a decent army for example, the only reason its not strong enough is our politicians.

Germany just announced cutting back on the Defense budget, disbanding 400.000 people, closing of barracks...even thinking loudly about the abolition of the national service (after it was cut down to 6 month now already).

Thats not really due to lack of money either, more because you dont need a large military and its just wasting funds, we're bordering banana republics like Belarus and Ukraine which are not the safest and most stable neighbours and then there's Russia.

You dont need an army, we do.

Even for Germany the military has become a to expensive, expendable luxury...I wonder how Poland will handle a build up of their own military.

Again it did not, both yours and our politicians came to the same conclusions, its been quiet for 65 years lets ditch our armies, the difference is that you're in a much much safer place then we're and whats a smart decision in Berlin is a f*cking stupid decision in Warsaw.

Then we should pay you an annual sum for your military (and giving the best hardware for free)...after all you are our outer border guardian now too!

Giving away something for free when people would be perfectly happy to pay for it is never a smart idea and i imagine Poland would though you guys can send me a tank i'd come to PF meet-up 2010 and say "hi" to Harry Blitzkrieg style.

Well, it wouldn't be a gift but a deal as you would (hopefully) use this good stuff to keep dangers away from your border and hence from our country too...it makes sense!

The Polish military needs, if not beefing up, then skilling up and resourcing up (in terms of infrastructure and equipment) to ensure that for example the Afghanistan deployment doesn't debilitate the standing army at home.

For a few figures on that, check out the interview with Gen Waldemar Skrzypczak in this week's 'Wprost':

Poland needs to get nuclear weapons quick and that only will secure Poland from war.

Nukes are but a bargaining chip. Poland could benefit from having them nonetheless.

No it doesnt, it would cause political hell, we need to learn from a smart example of Germany and get technologies that would allow us to get nukes within half a year rather then get nukes themselves.
