Poland Should Beef Up Military

Russia is moving in a strongly undemocratic direction and has used military aggression against Georgia. Poland needs to beef up it's military and get armed to the teeth to protect itself against future agression by Russia.

Pre-emptive strikes is the only option.

You are one of those irritating Americans who believe that Russia were the aggressors. Get a grip, buster. America perpetrated it, like 9/11, based on a fallacious pretense. Saakashvili totally erred, his own people turned on him when they discovered the truth.

Stop whipping up a frenzy and creating trouble. We don't want this BS, get it? Listen to the Germans, they got it right. Yes, Russia overreacted but they had to show who was in charge. Not like America has never done that.

For starters, Poland beefing up its military only gives Russians more of a target. Also, it has a sizeable army as it stands. Of course, being in America (I'm guessing) you wouldn't know that.

Future aggression, for what? Signing the missile shield? I live in Poland and don't feel in the least bit threatened by Russia. I wonder why :)

What a kunt!

Do you think he knows where Russia is? Do you suppose he actually believes there is a real iron curtain that kept the drafts out when the cold war was on! :)

Russia isn't exactly inconspicuous but he'd likely guess, 'somewhere in the country called Europe'.

Gotta love those curtains ;)

Poland needs energetic safty. More bio-gas, more gas made from coal, more gas form Norway. More ecological technologies ect.

Exactly, Prince. Poland needs future energy options rather than a big military.

We need modern army like France or UK have but energetic safety is much more important.

Energetic safety :) You are right.

What is your view on a European army, Prince? Tenable proposition or wild pipedream?

I support EU army, it should be created step by step.

Do you feel that sth is lacking/insufficient with national armies?

Don't you feel that the Brits would try to bully other armies into doing things their way? British Army folk have a lot of pride.

Poland has abandoned conscription now, right?

I too think that is the future!

The core of such a european army is already being build...the seeds are sown so to
speak, still tiny but alive and kicking nonetheless:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurocorps

...Six countries participate in Eurocorps as "framework nations": France, Germany, Belgium(from 1993), Spain (from 1994), Luxembourg (from 1996)[2] and Poland (from 2008).

A further seven countries have pledged troops or contribute operational staff: Austria, Turkey, Greece, the United Kingdom, Finland, Italy and the Netherlands. ...

There has been talk of this for some time but, as of yet, nothing has materialised. I'm not so sure that the current setup needs to be changed.

I've seen a couple of

i doubt if this would work. already the british are complaining about some so called allies who are partying away in relative safety whilst they and some others (danes for one ) are fighting in helmand.

Well...about that...how said a BBC commentator so nice:

"The USUK seems to want from Germany some Waffen-SS Divisions but under their own command!"

Won't happen, sorry!
You made Germany a pacifist/pacified country with purpose - now don't expect crack front troops just because they would come in handy!

it is reported that the germans in afghanistan are not aloud out at night. this from a military point of view is ridiculous. i cannot understand the reasoning behind this?

Most of Germany doesn't either...we don't even know what our soldiers are doing there at all!

I'll tell you why. Because the U.S. has your back!!! I'm all in favor of a Euro army or whatever you'll call yourselves. Then the U.S. can get its bases out of Europe and you all can start defending yourselves.

like this one?

Yes, I prefer the 7.62mm, the stopping power is tremendous! I'd prefer the A3 version though as I hate retractable stocks.

As for something smaller for CQB I'd use the HK UMP-45.

Smaller still...

Glocks mainly, a Glock 30 again a .45

As you can tell I'm a bit of a gun/special forces nut.

I'd like to know more about Polish special forces though I have lent all my books to my little brother.
