Who talks about punishment? Noone talks about extra tax, come back fee or anything like that.

Who talks about punishment?

You are missing the point.
People expect home to be home.
Once they realise it has changed it is not home any more.

People expect home to be home.

Exactly. You have a certain memories and expectations about your home country. When you finally return, you'll realize that the image in your head has nothing to do with reality anymore.

whether Poles return or not is the least important matter to them.

Well, it will certainly matter when a million Polish expats return home all of a sudden. Poland was very happy in 2004 when it was able to ease its unemployment problem by exporting people to Britain, Ireland and Sweden. Remember?

Good point, but that ain't gonna happen, because most Poles will never return, just as they never did in the past.
They know when they are better off.

Remember?

What is more to it is that most of them do not have the intention of returning to Poland

Are there any estimates out there how many Poles plan to go home after Brexit?

There has been some research conducted which says the majority intends to stay in the UK after Brexit. If I find this research, I will tell you the estimated percentage of those who want to come back.

From my experience this is very much the case.

after Brexit?

What is "Brexit"? If you mean a British exit from the European Union - nah - aint going to happen now.

What is "Brexit"?

Brazilian Exit... :)

the majority intends to stay in the UK after Brexit

Have the population planners in Poland taken that into account already? Losing approx. 1 million young people (mostly between 20 and 40 years of age) to the U.K. alone is quite significant.

Here, in Poland,

Some things are better, same are worse and some are just different. No big deal. I think you overreacting.

why not tell people coming back from English speakung world, in advance, that their homeland, culturally is still a fairly feral, and savage country.

Are you one of those? You came across as someone who is a newcomer rather than someone who is returning.
Beside people are either more or less aware who things stand in Poland or they can check it up.
As for your opinion about culture, you are not a genius are you? Culturally English speaking countries (not only) are culturally inferior, promoting LGBT, and all that crazy neo-Marxist ideology, letting crazy fanatics run amok and terrorise and shut up those who disagree with them. It is going down the hill fast. Seems like Soviet Union won in the west - culturally.

I gather that you meant some practical issues, legislation, organization and general unhelpful attitude of a state towards its citizens.

'reverse culture shock'?just cheap election sloganeering

You said what I wanted to say.

And the ones with kids that were either born or grew up here know they can't return

Yes, and they will return in 30 years and will also complain about the lack of info leaflets to returning emigrants and the PF or another forum will discuss it again and again. In this way history will come nice full circle.

Well, it will certainly matter when a million Polish expats return home all of a sudden.

Yes, but now it wouldn`t be an economic problem coz economy is still thriving and employees are looking for workers.

The thing is that if someone wants to complain, they will complain and we'll end up with: how dare they provide nothing but a leaflet.

Self help groups could help. But such grass roots initiatives are not part of the preordained 'social model' for Poland, and would require a blessing of a ' secret council'. And without being laced with an anti-church 'agenda' most likely wont get any funding.

The exodus of young talent is part of the prescribed program to 'neuter' every Catholic country. Not only Poland. Only the weak, less capable, less proud remain. Those are then recruited as foreign agents and spies, to manage the sheeple, making sure the quiet roll-back of Christian culture goes on unhindered. And the expats keep on sensing thadvantage and remain outisde.

And those great talents cannot even research stuff for themselves... if those are our talents it gets scary...

Once they realise it has changed it is not home any more.

And there is nothing government can do about that

Actually there are some things, like helping set up networks were returnees can contact each other, create a dedicated ombudsman network (an office in each województwo) for handling returnee cases, maintain up to date info pages aimed at returnees (with an advertising presence in airports).

None of that is terribly expensive but could make a big difference for people who (in theory) are bringing skills and capital back to the country.

But the new country still won't be the one they left.

And for Pete's sake, they already did it one way without all that! And what info should it give? How many public toilets there are or how to register a car? People who bring all these skills cannot get that info in the era of internet?

As to network of people- I never met a comunity that was created by government. It was always initiative started by individuals that sometimes got a blessing from officials later on.

Policy runs by practical considerations and by symbols. If the Polish government (or people) want Polonia to come back then they try to make it easier, signifying good will (not a product in abundance here....).

The fact is returning Polonia are often met with hostility because (as demonstrated on this thread multiple times) most Polish people in Poland _don't_ want them back for various reasons. They might not mind selected friends or family members coming back but on the whole once a Polish person lives abroad for a length of time their countrymen would prefer they stay away.

' secret council'

'Comanches'

Sometimes you use a lot of expressions in inverted commas which are unclear to me. E.g., who are Comanches?

most Polish people in Poland _don't_ want them back for various reasons.

Like Jews.

And what info should it give? How many public toilets there are or how to register a car?

Also, they shouldn`t keep their saved capital in a stocking under a pile of sheets in the wardrobe but should take it to the bank.

And they are right. Once you (editorial) bail as I did, you have no right to expect a welcoming wagon on your return decades later.

Also, the process of leaving and settling down in a new place is not all that much fun. Anyone who did it, should have enough what it takes to go back without hugs and kisses from those who stayed.

I tried to put in a paragraph explaining what I had meant by secret council and comanches, but when I hit post my msg. got deleted.Seriously.

You had a chance to explain it succinctly in the last post. No need for paragraphs - a few words about Comanches are enough. Seriously.

Only a small handful of people on here still think you are a Russian Troll Rich.

Don't worry. Despite what we said, we've always believed Rich is a true American troll

Their encouragement to emigrants to come back is only a cheap propaganda trick.

One of the many electoral tricks of theirs.

they can make it back.

I've recently read an interesting story about a woman who was born in Poland of a Polish mother and a Nigerian father and who emmigrated from Poland to the US as a teenager. At Polish school she was frequently abused racially by kids (she looks black) and had no support against that abuse from her mother; at home she was sexually abused in a regular way by her step-father (her father left for Nigeria soon after she was born). And yet she has now decided to return to Poland as a grown-up woman with child. Amazing, isn't it ?

Poor women. Hopefully she will have a better time this time around. Moving from a different continent must be a logistical nightmare. I think I would sell everything and buy here just to avoid the shipping etc :)

Zman, you were doing so well with this tear-jerking story until that "father" bit. The correct term is "sperm donor by direct deposit".

I know it's a mouthful - no pun intended - but it's more accurate.

The moral from this story: hey, stupid broads, think about that kid before you get hot and sweaty with a black sperm depositor.
