Former MP (from PiS*) Artur Zawisza (who bears a superficial resemblance to an older version of disco polo star Sławomir) ran over a bicyclist the other day in Warsaw while driving without a license (which had been suspended because he had been caught drunk driving)
He said he was driving out of "higher necessity" because he had 'an important meeting'... he dismissed the accident as "a collision, like hundreds of others" and promised to apologize the bicyclist and bring her flowers. Meanwhile the doctors said the injuries require surgery and the patient is unlikely to recover completely.
Later that day, he was caught again! He said he was taking his car back to his garage but surveillance footage shows he was lying...
Politically, he's now associated with some right wing religious nut group
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_Wing_of_the_Republic
Like many hypocrites, he apparently has one rule for hoi polloi (obey the law!) and another for himself (I can't be expected to pay for a taxi or take a bus! I'm too important!)
Here's hoping they throw away the key!
