Boeing or Airbus - which ones would be better for the Polish Airlines (LOT)?

By the end of this year Polish Airlines LOT will get the first 3 of 8 brand new Boeing 787s with an option for an additional 6. Airbuses counterpart is the A350 which will enter service around the same time. Generally who makes better planes now, Boeing or Airbus?

I think you that you should consult the pilots on this forum, they seen very quiet all of a sudden!

I wasn't aware that he had any pilot on here, real pilots or pc flight simulator pilots ? LOL

I think Boeings tend to crash a little less often? (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though!)

Oh I think that there at least 2 "wannabe pilots" !!!!on this forum. I doubt that they have ever flown an airbus, or even driven a bus for that matter.

Such a shame that Pf chose to eradicate such informative information that I posted about the RAF and the essential criteria needed to train as an RAF Pilot.

I can only assume that one is jealous that one can never ever reach that pinnacle in life.

Of course 25 years is the peak of ones career in the RAF, sometimes it is hard to acknowledge, but understandable.

Keep up those flight simulators, you can do it.

I'm not the one claiming to be a pilot !!! Boy.

sky gets paid for it and is competent, I just use mine to avoid the famous Central/Eastern European infrastructure.

Anyway, LOT will go with whatever makes them the most on their routes. Apparently they have a pretty good relationship with Boeing for their long haul routes.

Neither - they're both so unbelievably equal. Both are subsidised in different ways by the respective authorities (Boeing with the US defence contracts, Airbus through favourable loans) and both have their lame ducks, too. The A380 has problems, the 787 has problems - the A320 is a roaring success, the 737 is likewise.

Yes, but what that has to do with civil aviation? This is the worst thread possible to write about such things.

About the deal described in the article - PiS was explicitly saying that they will resign from buying Airbus helicopters for the Polish army already in their election campaign. So it was obvious they will do it.

Why do they do it? Probably because they have more supporters in the cities where the Airbus competitors would produce their aircrafts (if I remember well - Lublin and Świdnik) than in Łódź, where Airbus helicopters were going to be manufactured.

On the other hand, the French drive a hard bargain.It took decades for the French Rafael deal with India and a refusal to provide sufficient offsets was part of the issue.

they would never be manufactured in Łódź - Macierewicz maintains that the only offset the French proposed was painting the aircraft in Łódź - hardly manufacturing -

After thoroughly p!ssing off the governments of France and Germany by pulling out of a deal to buy helicopters that would be made in Lodz by a company owned by the Polish state in favour of having choppers made by a foreign-owned company (astoundingly enough in cities which, unlike Lodz, vote PIS), now the Deputy Defense minister has claimed that Poland "taught the French how to use a fork".

Former Polish president Kwaśniewski has told Radio Zet that, the tender notwithstandng, the purchase of Airbus helicopters was arranged by the Tusk regime to compensate France for reneging on the delivery of Mistral battleships to Russia, "Poland played an important part in forcing France to withdraw from one of its most profitable contracts, namely the sale of Mistral battleships to Russia in connection with the aggression in Ukraine," Kwaśniewski said. The purchase of helicopters for the Polish army from Airbus would have made up for the loss, "because then there was a gentlemen's agreement in the European Union and NATO that upcoming contracts for military equipment would take a more sympathetic view of French offers to obviously make up for those unsold [Mistral ships]".

How is that nice of Kwaśniewski to inform public that Poland played major role in giving sex to Russia (in the name of entire EU and NATO), while at the same time official Poland had petting with France full of romantic promises. Plus, all that on the expense of Polish tax players.

Embraer would be better for LOT.

NOWADAYS the 787 is way better than the A350 in terms of cost benefit. After so many problems it is being sold heavily discounted.

And a plus is that you dont give money for Merkel and Hollande when you buy Boeing, but you do give money to them when you buy Airbus.

On the second thought, Kwaśniewski is known as a great liar and moral heretic. So, its quite possible that he invented that about Airbus deal. Personally, i`m not expert on airplane quality. But, if it may help, Air Serbia prefer using Airbus. That fact as it is may be far better reason for Poland to wish to purchase Airbus products. i simple sense that Poland slowly but surely coordinate with Serbia. Must be because of EU`s pressure.

Wrong. Specially LOT agrees with me. Half of their fleet is already Embraer. At least in this point LOT made a good decision. Better buy jets from a country that doesnt have any interest against polish people (Brazil, where Embraer comes from) than from a country that want to destroy polish heritage (France, where Airbus comes from).
