Mussolini had similar backing with his "Blackshirts" who took over Rome marching street by street routing political enemies. This is the reality we are talking about, fascist militias coming to a town near you.

I also agree that the whole ONR & MW thing is quite worrying. Scary in fact, but the first article is very unbalanced and not in any way objective journalism.

I cannot see the far-right gaining any more power in Poland than in any other central European country. They will remain on the fringes and when it comes to elections, the silent majority will not vote for them...............I hope.

I really hope that is true, but these thugs serve the purpose or repressing and intimidating from below; the Neo-liberals that swept into power in 1989, as part of their Friedman agenda,remove any discussion on the economic conditions of the majority, from above.And, the church do their usual job of preventing critical thinking and maintaining division; just like they did prior to WW2 emphasizing that Polish Jews were not Polish. There is a major problem in Poland I feel, among a large section of the populace in relation to the realities of the modern world and general interaction with the outer world(resentment towards the mere mention of multiculturalism). At the moment things are being held together by EU grants, mass emigration, mass privatization, billions being sent home from millions of Poles abroad. The worry is, is that if their is further collapse in the EU, the Polish house of cards may collapse and the thugs and the their populace rats may become more significant. I think were Poland differs from other countries is that there is still a strong church backed(Radio Maria ONR) ignorance driving the old right wing as opposed to the modern Berlusconi right wing that keeps the people numbed with trash TV/ púrn.

The traditional forms of energy have been heavily subsidized for decades. What do you think the money came from to build the atomic reactors or coal mining etc.?

Renewable energy is in its fledgling stages and needs to be kickstarted, but once the infrastructure is there, we will have unlimited energy for a lot less than it costs now.

Anyway the gas and fuel we burn comes from Russia and Arabia. Dont you guys hate those guys?

Exactly. Even large scale oil extraction doesn't happen without huge state involvement. Green energy, which anyone with space for a solar panel or a small windmill can take part in needs help to get it off the ground in the face of partisan opposition.
