And all us foreigners know that when taxi drivers decide to rip us off the other taxi drivers won't break solidarity.

Hardly justifies beating someone unconscious. Taxi drivers are known for being the same the world over. Cool that Poland has a bartering system for taxis. Everywhere else I've been you pay what is asked.

They didn't. Read the source (and wonder if the taxi driver would do well playing centre forward in the Italian league).

You know anybody who has been ripped of by a taxi driver in London? There's no way a black cab driver would risk his licence.

And it also has to be said that not all taxi drivers in Poland are the same. I personally would most certainly no more take a taxi from outside the Grand in Sopot than I would from plac Zamkowy in Warsaw (or outside the central station until a couple of years ago).

Harry, stay on topic, otherwise you will go bye bye. Do not try our patience with you anymore.

I did, Just the first one(some have been added since. It said he was unconcious and lost the use of one of his organs for some days. Not that I think violent behaviour is justified because he was not unconcious or concious (only an idiot would use something so stupid as a defense) while being beaten by the group.

I remember last year on the tv, licensed taxis double their usual fares because it was snowing. Not sure if they were fined and doubt any of them received a kicking as punishment for trying it on.

And yet Des gets away with calling people mentally ill, calling them abusive racist names and all the rest of it without so much as a warning.

there were 5 American GIs in that bar? And 3 did nothing while their buddies were getting their asses kicked? Is that right? (help me here, I have no patience to read through 5 pages of bickering to see if this issue was already raised).

As far as I can see from the sources, there has been a claim that the other three just sat there but nobody had produced any source which claims that. From my experience of US service-personnel, if they think a comrade is threatened it is nearly impossible to stop them trying to get involved.

They must have been scared shitless then or they were thought this lesson before. LOL

That bothers me. Either the other 3 did not even know what was happening, they did not think it was serious, though their buddies deserved and ass kicking, or were so outnumbered, they "surrendered" without a fight. Or, as thug said, they were scared.. or simply did not want to fight. Which one?

I wonder how many American soldiers got the tish kicked out of them in the UK when they were stationed here during the war, my guess would be a lot and now lets bring colour into it, American soldiers who were black weren't allowed in some bars...I appreciate times have moved on in the UK, but Harry should remember these facts.

Who cares? Men get in fights all the time, why is this such big news?

Let's face it, it was two foreign soldiers who got battered by two morons, possibly because one of them was paying too much attention to said thugs girlfriend...it was always going to end it tears if that was the case, men can be such dicks!

I'm not saying it's big news at all, but once I hear it, I like to picture in my mind what happened, and this one does not make much sense.

What does makes sense to me, and what probably happened was that this was not much of a fight and media is blowing this up for some reason.

Im not sticking up for harry, but, Black Americans were as welcome in British Pubs as any one was untill the US high command decided it wanted to import its brand of rascism across the atlantic and placed some Pubs out of bounds to non white soldiers. Lots of british Pubs refused to take part in this.

There were running battles in the streets of some towns where british soldiers and civilians fought alongside Black GIs against rascist American soldiers trying to enforce aparthied.

what probably happened was that this was not much of a fight

F stop, "real fights" are over in seconds, the two injured Americans will have been down and out before there comrades knew what was happening. Its only those silly male posturing fights that involve lots of pushing and shoving that last minutes.

The nastiest fights Ive seen from years of working in clubs( and Ive seen certain secret soldiers scrapping in a hereford nightclub) have been over before you can figure out whats going on. Its not fair on the three guys who didnt get involved to say or imply that they let their buddies down. Its probably to their credit that they didnt just lash out at the nearest Pole in revenge, good ambassadors IMHO.

Merged: 6 American soldiers attacked 4 Polish civilians in city of Lodz

The incident took place on one of the streets in the city of Lodz in the early morning, around 7 am. Six American soldiers approached a group of four Polish civilians and verbal and some physical exchanges took place between both groups. At the initial inquiry Americans (never to admit their fault) pointed straight away at the Polish as the party guilty of starting the scuffle. The investigation continued but shortly after it began Americans were set free while Polish civilians were still detained. In my opinion when foreign soldiers enter another country's territory, on what is to be friendly relations, they have a responsibility to behave with utmost respect and responsibility and avoid causing trouble but in this case the Americans misbehaved, unfortunately it is Polish civilians who were detained longer.

This is the injustice system in our country which treats even American soldiers better than Polish people. I can imagine what would happen if the situation was reversed and it Polish soldiers causing trouble in USA, the Polish group would, most likely, be arrested.

Harry: And Polish bad boys are famed for never being racists, aren't they? Oh, sorry, I got that slightly wrong, as any non-white person who has spent time in Poland will tell you.

Foreigners spending time in Poland are welcomed as no other, Polish hospitality does not discriminate between race or skin colour, that is American and British phenomenon that is unknown in Poland. Anyway, how does that relate to American soldiers getting into a fight with Polish civilians?

Anybody care to guess the chances of both those American servicemen being white?

i don`t care for color of their skin. They eventually provoked and were beaten in return

Me neither. Some members on this forum want to divert attention from every issue that looks troublesome for Americans by painting Polish as homophobic, violent or racist.
