What does my Polish work colleague's behaviour mean?

I'm working from several months with this polish guy, recently he started to play jokes, to wind me up and behave childish... It does really annoy me, moreover I notice that he behaves kindly and respectfully with every lady apart from me. It seems he has some right for deal with me like with his little sister. At the beginning i thought we could become friends, but now work with him is very unconfortable.

I'm conscious that could be just the person and nothing to do with the nationality, however I would some tips for deal with the whole situation. Thank you very much and please excuse my mistakes as english is not my first language.

As an experienced troll and a joker I think I'm the right person to answer. Stay calm and answer him only with few words and may give him pełne politowania oczytranslation needed a pitying look?

Indeed, it's nothing to do with the nationality. Btw. what's your first language? (just curioius)

balinina, I'm sure you have jerks like this in Italy, too. Confront him with a smile and something like, "Have I upset you? It's just that you seem to dislike me for some reason." You say he treats other women with respect, so he's obviously got some decency. Challenge him in a friendly way and see what his problem is. I don't want to appear flippant but it may be that he really likes you.

Sounds like some Polish man I know, who's immature, and childish at that. Very different in the way he treats me from other ladies, teases me, annoys me, ****** me off, though he did admit one time that he likes me. Now lately he's been saying(and says he's serious) he wants to marry me and have babies with me, that my age will compensate for his age(I'm older than him), etc., etc. ! Jokes with other ladies but with me the treatment is so different. I never know when he's serious(though really I don't treat everything he says as serious even though he keeps saying he is because I just think he's immature and just a joker) or not but it's getting to the point that I will have tell him to f_ _ _ k off because people are starting to talk and it's beginning to make me uncomfortable when we're working(just like what you're feeling right now). Also,......... the jerk has a girlfriend!

Bottomline though is, I think your colleague likes you. He(and like all other jerks regardless of nationality) just has a crappy way of showing it. Though if it's really getting to the point that you've become so uncomfortable with him just talk to him and tell him to back off.

That's impressive. It's like you're talking about my situation. And indeed the fella one time introduced to me his "fiancee" but I can't say if it was a joke or not, the girl didn't know what he was saying to me, so she coud even be the sister or whatever.

Yes - I'm sure he does and probably doesn't realise it's annoying you.

tell him to back off.

Phrases like "not right now, OK" and a serious look might be a good way to do this.

I know for sure he has a son back in Poland, but he's not with his wife anymore

Oh they all say that when they're here. LOL(of course he's not with his wife because she is in Poland). =D

Don't give him false hopes with phrases like that. Unless of course, you really like him and want to give him a chance.

I see what you mean. I was thinking of quite a stern and assertive tone of voice to set boundaries in their working relationship.

That would be alright. Tell him that when you're both at work, just concentrate on work. But if he still won't stop, oh well, report him to your supervisor.
