When talking to Americans I very often have to speak slowly and carefully because otherwise they simply can't understand what I am saying.

sounds like that's your problem.

At least you speak slow, that's good. Others try to speak fast and all hell breaks lose.

Yes,Americans are very slow.Basically they cannot understand what is outside of their frame of thinking which is the mainstream.

I am American and I am not slow.
S, that was a very rude statement, and untrue.

I am American and I am not slow.

I did not write it well.Americans are very quick to understand what is close to them and can bring them money. They are slow to understand different models, sth like that.

Europeans seem to me to think more complicated.

I'm not obessed with money either.
I have a roof over my head, clothes and food. That's enough.

Very well said :)

Select Few think just because in their travels they meet up with some really
different people , that all are like this, and its not true, just like when I see
all the posts about the british, I take in their personality only, its not fair to
pass judgement on so many with experience of so few.

Southern I think your the only one whos having a time thinking outside your
box, you repeatedly talk european this and that.. its what you have known
all your life so no one can fault you for that, but dont fault us for being who
we are too.

and where do you live shopgirl? which polish city u chose?

hey, the thread is about Polish women being cold and aloof!!
does it really matter where she lives?

I dont think they are cold and aloof, I think they just dont take nobodys crap!
people are quick to judge these days and mistake those stern looks for something
else, the truth is, you cant take advantage of us and if you do shame on you
2nd time it happens shame on me!!

Heh, guys always tell me that i look like arogant and mad biatch, before they even talk to me. they say it's because of my look (tall, skinny, blond and serious w/o smile. more, they say that i look like someone who knows that is attractive and therefore unreachable = racist). But when they finally talk to me, they find me funny and very warm. (usually they end up saying: OMG, u're actually a NICE person:P)

So - in defense of our polish cold look - physical look does not always say the truth about the person;)

then, i think that we - polish girls - are colder and less "touchy" than other nationalities (of course with few exception). We won't be physically all over the guy. It's just because we expect the guy to "do" the job and go after girl (even in a relationship).

By the way, my sis always tells me (she has a polish boyfriend) that the girl cannot love the guy more than he (or at least show it) because once the guy sees he "has" the girl in his hands, she becomes less attractive for him and he desires her less... (does it mean that insecurity is sexy...?)

Depends on the guy really, but it's true that some of us like a challenge..

;)

Just don't overexaggarate anything?

Try Finnish women. They suck. Their little heads is filled by feminazism propaganda. Yelling at their husbands/boyfriends at streets is a common and somehow acceptable practice.

Polsih girls
========
in mine and my friends 3 years polish life experience:
(the usual Ania, Karolina or Ola)

- love playing mindgames with guys
- like flirting with everyone, and sleeping around
- usually they will have 2 official boyfriends, and other 3-4 casual lovers
in a month
- they are sweet looking, but mean and even evil inside, although they
rarely show it

So, worth the watching? I'm a positive guy for the most part, it's important to give out positive energy and feel good within yourself. However, aloofness really hits me when I encounter it. I just counter it by smiling and getting what I need.

If you don't have to deal with such people on a round-the-clock basis, I don't see a problem. I've said it before, it can be like the Japanese phenomenon. Out on the streets, they are quiet and dour faced. In class, the same person is smily and seemingly content with their lot.

This is bcoz you speak with your English akcent Bev.It's sometimes really hard to understand you Brits but I guess it all depends where did you learn English and what you are used to.

maybe you should train yourself in understanding other accents, I know Canadian accent but I understand most of other accents, not problem. So you probably have no ear for accents in general, but that can be changed with the right attitude, which you obviously don't have.

Some are and some aren't. I had a student in class today who never fails to smile and create a light-hearted atmosphere, she's cool. I think it's worth repeating what I said earlier on in this thread. Many seem to open up in class when the right atmos is created but, on the streets, many come across as being jealously guarded and play this huffy, block-out game. I really get on very well with those that don't. In the local deli, they know me and are super friendly. Even when I'm beat after work, I still make an effort to smile and have a laugh/joke with them. They do likewise! If they are visibly snowed under and look jaded, I take it easy and am very patient. I read other peoples' energy/energies and work with it.

I think we can say that many oldies here are aloof but, then again, they were put through the ordeal that was communism. Younger ones, esp schoolgirls, are generally bright and peppy. Those in their thirties, well, it depends who they are surrounded by.

Some are and some aren't. The ones in their twenties are better, further away from communism.
