Any suggestions for wedding venues in South of Poland

Czesc,

In about 18 months I'm planning on getting married to my fiancee who is from Myslenice (just south of Krakow).

We would like a small-ish wedding for about 50 guests, preferably somewhere outdoors (I'm not a big church person) maybe in the tatra mountains or next to a lake in a park. We would like it to be in the South of Poland, preferably within a couple of hours of Krakow.

We're on a bit of a tight budget so hiring a big hotel with gardens is probably not affordable for us.

If anyone has any suggestions of beautiful places that could host an outdoors wedding then please get in touch. We're planning on going to have a look at some potential venues over the new year period.

Dziękuję barzo!

Phil.

A wedding party for 50 is going to cost you a bundle wherever you hold it. Try to agree with the venue that you can bring the booze. This will save a lot.

Unfortunately in many places there is somthing they call "korkowe" which is a fee for bringing your own alcohol. In Krakow, last time I checked it varied from 8 to 30 zloty - per bottle (of your own alcohol). Riddiculous.

I have been to a few fantasic wedding parties here but not sure on the costs stynol.pl. If you are on a tight budget you may want to try here kasper-suski.pogodzinach.net/galeria.html as they also have accommodation and the park/gardens there are great for photos (I know we used the park/gardens for some of our wedding pictures. The accommodation is a little basic but clean. We had our reception here hotels.com/ho346518/monttis-sucha-beskidzka-poland/#descrip tion. The food and service was top class could not fault them and no complaints from friends who used their accommodation. We took our own alcohol and got our own band in with no charges. We had our second day in a different Stynol in Zawoja opposite the ski lift which was good as we took all our guests up for photos.Ill have a chat with the wife about the costs as I cant remember.

So very true

I don't think they do weddings in Pszczyna Castle but if they do, it would be a truly fantastic venue :) Worth investigating that option!

More realistic is in Chorzów, the Bathory part I believe. My wife's bro had his wedding there in Aug 2007 and it was a spacious hall for around 100-150 guests. Lovely food and a nice dance floor :) :) The band that played was really good too.

Teflcat, Olaf,

Thanks for your help. We've looked at the kocierz webpage already as well as a few other places. It looks very nice.

I think we'll probably fire off a few emails and see what's available and then spend a few days cruising round the venues to take in the vibes.

Just out of interest have you ever been the the river park place near zator?

Cheers,

Phil.

For normal people or for VIPs only? Isn't it too risky to have weddings there with many drunks stottering around and collapsing into the pictures and skiting along the ornate rug floors?

Hi All.

Just seen the rest of the messages.

My fiancee hasn't lived in Poland now for about 8 years and so she's quite out of touch with what's in the area.

All suggestions or advice most gratefully accepted!

G60Edition, if you've got any info on costs of your wedding, then that would be verrry useful.

Thanks,

Phil.

The costs can be sizeable but you can recoup most, if not all, through money gifts. That was the case in my wife's bro's wedding.

Ok I have spoken to the wife and the wedding cost £7k ish
Now that did include the two receptions
Food (Cost will depend how many dishes you have)
Cakes given to the guests the day before and the wedding cake
Wedding car hire
Mini buses to collect guests from the airport and running people back and forth on both days
Alcohol (we supplied our own Vodka, beer and various spirits and soft drinks)
Photographer (extra depending on size and what pictures you want to purchase)
Video (You will need to feed and water him/her)
Band(factor in feeding and watering the band)
Flowers
Invitations
Gifts for parents ,best man and brides maid
That did not include the wedding dress and my suit and rings
Im sure you can get it cheaper and also pay a lot more its just depends on what you and your future wife wants
Hope this gives you rough idea of costs

G60Edition,

I've just seen your last post. That's round about the price we are thinking of, so good to know we're not miles out in our thinking.

We're off to Poland over the new year to check out a few venues.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help.

No worries. Is your wedding going to be a civil or church one?You will need various bits of paper work.Passport, birth cert, and if you have been married before decree absoloute these had to be translated and given prior to the wedding.Depending where you get married I can pass on the contact the numbers of the band, photographer and video chap.Only the photographer was local and the band and video chap came over from Rabka

Mini buses to collect guests

My cousin had arranged a mini-bus to pick up guests from the church & drop us off at her wedding reception. It was very convenient, relaxing and a guarantee of most guests arriving around the same time :)

Hi Phil,

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding!

Have you managed to put plans together yet? I have just returned from Krakow after getting married in December, and have a whole host of information / venues that may be of assistance.

Reply to this thread if so, and I'll pass on what I have.

Also, I would really suggest looking into using a wedding planner. It will take away all the problems associated with arranging a wedding. We had 40 guests, and our planner cost less than £400. I could not recommend her enough.

If all sorted, good luck with the plans!

Merged: From the UK planning to get married in Poland; advice needed on wedding venues

Hi,
I am hoping to get married in Poland in 2016. I have started to research wedding venues; I've been looking mainly at Krakow but am open to other areas as Krakow seems rather expensive. Ideally I would like somewhere where there's lots to do for both adults and children. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Kat.

Szczyrk

Gorgeous mountain village south west of Krakow. It's a bit of a drive from the airport...well, it's 90mins-ish. But it's really lovely, have a look at it on google maps.

Magic place and all the hotels do good deals on weddings because it's a popular place to get hitched.

Ustron is also very nice.

If you're looking for somewhere bitter then Bielsko-Biala or Zywiec would suit.

But personally, I'd go for Szczyrk, your foreign guests coming to Poland will love it. And make sure and get a band that does a mountain show....traditional clothes/music, mighty fun :)

Thank you for your reply- I will definitely check those locations out. If we do stick to central Krakow can you suggest any nice venues around there? I would like quite an up-market hotel with a pool for guests to stay/ maybe have the wedding there? I also believe that at the moment you can only get married in a church or registry office but this law is changing next year? Do you know anything about this? We are hoping to go over in March to have a look at venues. Both my parents speak Polish but I do not- would you recommend a wedding planner?

Thanks for your suggestions so far- I love the idea of traditional music/ dancing.

Sorry, I've been to Krakow a lot but wouldn't be familiar with the hotels there.
I do know though that the more upmarket hotels in Szczyrk are highly recommended. Have a look at tripadvisor. A few of them have a pool as well.

Although your guests will be so drunk on vodka I think swimming won't be a good idea ;)

registry office but this law is changing next year

Yea, I think it changing so you can have a civil ceremony anywhere? I'm not sure about it though, I got hitched in a church.

would you recommend a wedding planner?

Personally no, waste of money as far as I'm concerned. My missus is Polish though and I speak a bit too. Now you're faced with the problem of your parents planning/organising things. I wouldn't have wanted my parents of my in-laws involved at all.

However, the places in Szczyrk provide the drink/cakes/decoration as part of their price. I'd bring one of the parents with me in March, or else bring a Polish cousin or someone who can translate for you.

Competition for weddings is really high there so they give great deals. Where I got married everything had to be gotten individually. But that was in the lower 'mountains' in the south-east and it was far more expensive when compared to where my friends had their party in Szczyrk.

Hi, we're planning to get married in Poland by the end of this year, but all what I've read here is only in the south, does anybody recommend anything in the north?, we're living in Gdansk. Thank you for the recomendations!

Hi,
I'm still researching venues for my wedding but as we live in England it's a bit trickier. I found this in Gdansk dworoliwski.pl not sure of prices though. We were hoping to find somewhere nearer to Krakow but this one in Gdansk looks lovely.

Thanks,
Kat.

Smurf- thank you for the suggestions and sorry for my very delayed reply! I've still got my heart set on Krakow but looking at castles/ palaces near by too.

Hi,

We got married in Poland last year and it was FANTASTIC! We got married just outside Kielce, which is two hours north of Krakow in a place called Zamek Sobkow which I cant recommend enough!

zameksobkow.eu/en

In terms of corkage - you only seem to have to pay that in Krakow and Warsaw - its not a normal thing to pay in Poland. This is the other thing about polish weddings - its all included usually . And by all I mean 5 meals, venue etc etc. You need to cover the cake, alcohol of soft drinks (tea/ coffee normally included), the band, photographer. But you dont get ripped like you would in the UK with charges for cakes stand, red carpet etc etc. The only extra's we had to pay for were fireworks (recommended - that's a lot of fireworks!) and local meats.

As long as one of you speaks Polish I wouldn't bother with a wedding planner either - I may try and find someone to sort out the actual getting married bit - bureaucracy is epic! We had a civil service in the UK and the whole religious thing over there.

Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions.
