Hi, I am in a dilemma as I met a lovely Polish man who is working here (been with him for over a year now) & I have visited his home city, met his family (3 times) & I absolutely love it there. However, he would naturally like to return to Poland to live & work sometime soon & has asked me to come with him. Therein lies the dilemma as I am very slowly learning Polish so I am not sure how I could find work there. I also have two grown up children so I would be leaving them which would be extremely hard but I obviously do not want to be apart from my partner either. Anyone else been through this or can offer any advice?
English woman with a Polish partner - may need to move to Poland soon
Well I'm married to a Polish man (I'm Irish) and I loved Poland when I was there on holiday but it's a very different kettle of fish when you live there :) Also I live in Warsaw the capital city and you'd be in a smallish town I imagine?? The language is tough but you can get the basics, but you'd really need to attend classes, it's very hard to just pick up. Are you English Jenny?
Unless you have a special talent for IT or teaching or something else - it will be very hard for you to find a job that pays enough to keep you in the standard that you have come to expect from life.
It all depends - you do not say where you live, but if in England - it is not the end of the world, you can jump on a plane and you're there within the day.
I can guarantee you that being in Poland for a holiday is completely different to living there. After 2 months you will be swearing like a trooper, everything will get on your nerves, the bureaucracy will kill you...but the food might be o.k. for you.

I can guarantee you that being in Poland for a holiday is completely different to living there.
I can second that , albeit if you move to the right place you might be amazed how many other expats have moved in to Poland and generated a circle of friend that may be able to help you along the way,
Although I would be classified as living in the sticks you would be amazed by the number of English, Australian and dutch partners that have moved into my area .
visited his home city,
Can I ask where that is ?

Poland is a wonderful place to live. Also most younger people.speak english and theres a decent size anglo expag community. I think you will like living there. Just make sure you have a way out though if it doesn't work out w ur bf
Hi, thanks for your replies - they were very helpful. Unfortunately, I am unable to say where his home city is as that might identify me on here. Yes, that is a good point about finding a way out if the relationship doesn't work out. Not going to take such a big step unless I am 100% sure that things will work out ok.
