E-marriage - how successful among Poles?

Since online matrimonial/dating agencies have been around for quite some time now, does anyone on PF know whether any studies have been done on how successful theri matches are? The success and stabiltiy pf the couples they pair would have to be comparted with the more conventional way couples meet at work, parties, clubs, church, etc.

Is there a dating agency for people who type too fast?

It's very successful here. Just look how many polish mail order brides were ordered by Western Europeans and Americans.

I know all kinds of get-rich-quick bride-mill schemers have made a pilke on this racket...my question is: have such marriages withstood the test of time* as well, worse or the same as those of couples who met in a more traditional setting.

*To define terms by 'withstanding the test of time' I mean have they produced happy, stable, loving families?

Polonius, I met my husband through one of dating sites, I think you can't put in one basket internet dating and 'bride ordering'. The first one can be as succesfull as any, internet is only a medium to get in touch, i don't do discos and bars so it seemed like a better option to meet someone in a new country and new city... We've been together almost 5 years. Don't know if that's succesfull but we are certainly past the stage of a clash of imagination with reality :)

We live in modern times. E-dating is just another tool people use to meet each other. It's quite popular in Scotland but the majority of people who use the sites use them to find an FB.

I've used them in the past, met folk from them. No biggy.

Well, of course I can go out and just pick someone up from the bar no problem. But I'm quite well known around these parts and don't always want something a bit close to home. Plus I'd rather meet someone on my terms. E-dating plays a wee part in that.

Small town?

I hang out all over the central part of my state if I'm going out socializing. That's plenty of new people to come across every time.

No quite large. And if I were to go to my usual place for a night out it would be Stirling, which is a city.

Just heard that Ukraine has a majro bride busienss and up to 140,000 marriages are concluded each year, but only abotu 10% withstand the text of time. Maybe the Polish ones are more successful.

Why are you asking?

Both sets of my Grandparents - think very early XXs century - did most of "the dating" after the wedding. They produced plenty of healthy babies together so it must have been a happy after the vows dating.

Are you concerned about e-marriages?

It sounds pretty sad that people nowadays are somehow forced to do online dating, I miss old good times when there was no Internet, only reality to deal with.

For many different reasons, when one goes in out in ones 20s you mix more, when one goes in ones 30s and 40s one tends to stay in ones group becuase the majority of friends are married or are in stable relationships, as already stated its just another medium for meeting like minded people, its not for everyone but some have found thier life partners through internet dating so it cant be all that bad? As the old saying goes try it you might like it...Aparently quite a few people do it these days, after all there wouldnt be so many internet dating sites if weren't popular.
