More loveless sex of Poles living in the regained lands

Did the resettlers fail to pass these values on to their post-war-born descendants?

Yep thats the one ,people failed to pass those values. They just didn't talked politics or stories about the war.

It is a fact however that the ex-German terriories are less churchgoing and more leftist. Why would this be the case?

Less poverty. The Roman Catholic Church has always fed off poverty. 'Poland A' is richer and that is why the people there are more likely to have better things to do with their Sundays than go and support a hugely hypocritical organisation.

we have all been to various cities in Poland and possibly elsewhere, tried our luck and probably had the same result, whatever the city.

I've got to say that, back in the day when I used to engage in such behaviour, I always found the young ladies far more, er, accommodating in the eastern parts of Poland.

Let's accept for the sake of argument that aflluence breeds immorality, but what about the leftism? Traditonally that was the consituterncy of the poor urban proletariat. The ex-commies (SLD) have always done better at the polls in the 'recovered' lands than elsewhere.

immorality

And who decides what is or isn't 'immoral'?

aflluence breeds immorality

It's more that affluence breeds intelligence. The less time people have to spend slaving to pay their rent and worrying about where their next meal is coming from, the more time they have to think and to learn. There's a reason that the RCC has always wanted people kept stupid.

what about the leftism?

The traditional 'left' and 'right' mean little in modern Polish politics: PiS is socially conservative but economically pretty far to the 'left'.

And who decides what is or isn't 'immoral'?

Usually it is self-appointed hypocrites with nothing better to do.

OK, so affluence breeds promiscuity. Everyone has a right to their point of view and I can accept that some people hold such views.

promiscuity

How would you define 'promiscuity'?
Harry
14 Feb 2012 /  #38
No doubt to him it is 'having sex' (Catholics do not have sex: Catholics have children).
OP Polonius3  980 | 12275

Illicit (ie pre- and extra-martial) coitus and/or multiple partners. Reckon in pub parlance that's called 'sleeping around'.
So, according those who equate affluence with promiscuity, infidelity is part and parcel of being better to do.

Illicit

What's 'illicit' about having a partner?

As I said illicit sex is pre- or extra-martial. Full stop.

Illicit under what set of rules? Not the law of Poland.

Under the Cahtolic belief system. I'm sure you know I'm a Catholic. And Poland is constantly referred to as a staunchly Catholic country innit?.

By you, perhaps. The reality is somewhat different. If Poles were as staunchly Catholic, i.e. obedient, as you assert, there would be half a dozen kids at least in most families.

No, by the world media. Look through any of the reportss about, let's say Palikot's showing or the adbotion issue in the files of the AP, NY Times, Newsweek, Reuters, Wasungton Post, etc. and you will see time and again the phrase 'staunchly Catholic Poland' or 'devoutly Catholic country'. Remember -- I am only repeating that the world media call Poland. This is not

a discussion on the degree of staunchness.

the adbotion issue

I wouldn't know about that. Is it another sex thing?

Under the Cahtolic belief system. I'm sure you know I'm a Catholic.

So you'd force your interpretation of Catholicism down people's throats?

a staunchly Catholic country innit?.

Not according to several of your posts in this thread.

In fact you seem to be suggesting that certain regions of Poland are very far from that indeed.

And nobody would ever get divorced.

And Poland is constantly referred to as a staunchly Catholic country innit?.

By people who know no better (largely because they have never been here either).

It's like that guy Skibnewski on another thread who recommended loveless marriage, as of course love is fleeting.

Once again I am misquoted. I never recommended loveless marriage. I stated that marriage is more than two people being in love ...it is a higher commitment an institution...that in order to have a successful marriage people better bring more than love to the table because love is fleeting especially in hard times.

Sorry OP a little off topic

Women are to be bred like cattle, that's their role as of course intimate relations between a man and woman is inherently evil.

Only if the relationship is outside of marriage. This is a very right wing statement of the modern Catholic Church. As with any large organizations there will be both left and right views on any topic. Sex in the modern Catholic marriage is no longer only about procreation.

It's more that affluence breeds intelligence. The less time people have to spend slaving to pay their rent and worrying about where their next meal is coming from, the more time they have to think and to learn. There's a reason that the RCC has always wanted people kept stupid.

This is generally the opposite of the way things are in the Usa. If you go to a "private" Catholic school you better have money. So I don't see your point.

Every large organization will use a medium of control. I don't believe the Catholic churches medium was unintelligence but rather poverty.

Affluence doesn't breed intelligence...it breeds freedom. Freedom is great but too much of it breeds selfishness.

Nobody said Poles never make mistakes, never sin, never commit crimes or get divorced...but the divorce rate is lower than in many other countries. In other words, there is less of that odious perjury or oath-breaking that Dupadomine so deplores.

You were warned more than once .

An oath made under duress to the proxy of a foreign occupying power is not binding.

You mean that somebody who rails against Godlessness is actually something of a hypocrite? How very unusual.
JonnyM  11 | 2607

It wasn't made under duress. The guy was a colonel. The marriage vow however can be dissolved if required without a strain on one's character.

Nor is sexual love without a certificate from the Town Hall unusual, disreputable or illegal in Poland.

Poland isn't and never was staunchly Catholic and definitely not in the way those protestant-Jewish-NWO rags of a BS understand.

I was under the impression that Poland was primarily Catholic. Obviously there are other groups but I mean the majority.

There's a difference between being "mostly Catholic" and "staunchly Catholic". Most people I know will say they're Catholic But.

"I'm Catholic, but I haven't been to church for ages."

"I'm Catholic, but I hate priests."

"I'm Catholic, but not a very good one."

Hardly staunch, devout, practising Catholics at all. And if there hadn't been a Polish resident of the Vatican for 28 years, I doubt even 5% of Poles would say they were Catholic at all now.

Ho hum, how are we defining love here?

Only if the relationship is outside of marriage.

The Roman Catholic Church is Right Wing. It's not by coincidence that Hitler, Mussolini and Franco were Roman Catholic or that the Catholic monasteries assisted Nazi's in escaping from post WWII Germany. The Republican party has drifted far right due to the influence of the Roman Catholic Church, just this past week at the CPAC convention Huckabee said "we're all Catholic now". Left wing Catholics? No such thing. The fact is the Roman Catholic Church quit being Christian when Constantine took it over in 300 AD, Rome changed the Church the Church didn't change Rome. It's not a Christina religion, it's a political organization.

Gee do we get bored when we are caught in a lie.

The Roman Catholic Church is Right Wing.

Of course its a political organization. Any large organization worth its salt is. You can't blame Catholicism for those 3 morons. Mussolini wasn't even Catholic.. he hated the Catholic church.

The Republican party is now under the control of the Pope....are you insane.

I got married in a Roman Catholic church to my Jewish wife by both a Rabbi and a Priest. Seems pretty right to me.
