More loveless sex of Poles living in the regained lands

TVN24 has reported sexulogist Zbigniew Izdebski as saying the Poles most likely to engage in one-night stands and other forms of causal, loveless sex live in the former German territories awarded to Poland by the Big Three after the war. Such behaviour was most common in Pomerania, West Pomerania and Lubuskie. The least casual sex is encoutnered in the Lublin, Podkarpackie and Świętokrzyskie regions.

The regained lands (ziemie odzyskane) have long been known to be a 'zbieranina' (motely collection) of rootless displaced people, and those areas are also known for their pro-leftist sympathies and weaker identificaiton with the Church than other parts of the country.

You're actually jealous, aren't you?

Incidentally, abusing them for being "rootless" is rather low, considering that they were forcibly evicted from their lands. But hey, anything to score a point, eh?

(incidentally, if my knowledge of the East is right, the same stuff goes on there, just no-one talks about it)

And thanks to the OP for the heads up. It could be a boost for the regional tourist industry.

this couldn't possibly have anything to do with the movement of young people to the various universities, could it ?

or has bacia been telling the world of her loose morals and the elderly are in on this too.

Personally I don't know.

i think you do. we have all been to various cities in Poland and possibly elsewhere, tried our luck and probably had the same result, whatever the city. people in Poland are a mixed bunch these days, moving for education and work. the movement of people almost two generations ago has no validity. in simple terms, if folk want to fck then they will. it doesn't matter which part of Poland they live in or came from.

The regained lands

Regained lands, regained territories ... all communist speak.

Indeed. It's a hysterical part of Polish society that those who are most "anti-Communist" are actually the ones repeating Communist myths over and over again.

Anyone with half a brain would use "Northern and Western Territories" or similar.

Why can moderators say **** but I can't? **** that. What the ****.

Makes me wanna be a mod.

Political affiliations sounds like a tenuous conclusion, and anyone taking advice about sex from the pulpit deserves all that they don't get.
I found this a little interesting :
The study - by sexual science therapist Professor Zbigniew Izdebski, in Poland - says one in three men is now too frightened for sex.
"Men feel they are judged by their women, who have been educated by magazines and know exactly how long foreplay should last, when to check the moistness of their vagina, the hardness of their nipples and body colour," he explained

from austriantimes.at/index.php?id=14071

So it is possible that these right wing religious woman are eating the menu instead of the fruit.

Very Roman Catholic, always fuming about sex. It's like that guy Skibnewski on another thread who recommended loveless marriage, as of course love is fleeting. Women are to be bred like cattle, that's their role as of course intimate relations between a man and woman is inherently evil. And as science advances we won't need sex at all just breed 'em out of test tubes. How clinical, how moral, how Roman Catholic. Heil Hitler! (oops, I meant the Pope).

Just one question: how was this study done? questionaire? Maybe folks in the west lie more than their eastern cousins ;)

I doubt there was much of a study. Just Izdebski and a journalist cooking up column inches. If he's lucky there may even be a daytime chat show and a couple of radio interviews in it for him. Much better than paid advertising.

Does it not sound plausible? Many of the symptoms of rootlessness, as opposed to the stable, longstanding, traditional societies of southern, central and eastern Poland, are most prominent in the former German territories resettled by refugees from the Soviet-annexed east. This includes the crime and divorce rate, voting patterns and religious practices.

so your premise is that these deviant behaviors are more prevalent in the West of Poland as opposed to elsewhere?I'm sorry. I don't buy it. These tings you reference are pretty much universal instincts and impulses independent of geopgraphy.

I would like to recall the "Demographic Yearbook 2011" of Central Statistical Office (GUS), [stat.gov.pl/cps/rde/xbcr/gus/PUBL_rs_rocznik_demograficzny_2011.pdf]

OP: ...stable, longstanding, traditional societies of southern, central and eastern Poland, This includes ... divorce rate ...

The sections (34-55) of the Yearbook , dealing with divorces across provinces, may be of interest. Make sure that you compare the relative, not the absolute, data. Draw your own conclusion, but here is just one example.

A shortened list of divorces in the >100,000 towns, per 10,000 population
(
(26.8 Gorzów Wlkp)
(26.7 Toruń)
(26.0 Włocławek)
(25.7 Szczecin)
(25.6 Bydgoszcz)
(25.5 Płock)
(24.2 Białystok)
(24.3 Elbląg)
(24.2 Częstochowa)
(24.0 Zielona Góra)
....
(18.4 Poznań)
(17.5 Kielce)
(16.8 Lublin)
(15.8 Kraków)
(15.2 Rzeszów))

If the Western and Northern provinces are to be considered the rootless evils, why do we have so many towns from Central and Eastern Poland among the 10 top divorce culprits, including Toruń, Częstochowa and Białystok?

Perhaps, as somebody already pointed it out, this might be caused by internal migration. Take a look at some plots at the end of the GUS presentation. For example, the internal migration plot shows sharp peaks, going both ways (rural=>urban and urban=>rural). The peaks are centered around 30-34 year old men, and 25-29 year old women. Do not be mislead by relatively small values of these peaks: You would need to integrate those plots to get some ideas about total numbers - or better yet: go the section "internal migration" and compare the tables. And do not forget about the external migration either.

There are 4 'regained' towns in the top list of high divorce rates, and none in the low-divorce rate bottom listing. BTW, where is Warsaw? Capitals usually have high divorce rates.

1. You get it right: 4 : 6, non-evil provinces losing
2. SE provinces - but you are actually right here
3. Warsaw is in the middle - 19.8

So, your conclusions are not justified. All you can say is that some NW provinces are "evil", more C and E provinces are also "evil", and the SE corner is traditional. Does it surprise you?

But you might want to check some other factors too. Why does the SE corner is so lazy with children production? Average 1? Phew!

No-one is saying that provinces resettled by the uprooted are the sole factor but it can be a contributing factor. Demographics, urbanisation and industrailisation may also play a role.

It is a fact however that the ex-German terriories are less churchgoing and more leftist. Why would this be the case? The eastern half of Poland annexed by Uncle Joe, from which the repartiates came, was staunchly Catholic. Did the resettlers fail to pass these values on to their post-war-born descendants? And why the pro-leftism? These are point to ponder.
