I really don't think this is getting anyone anywhere...

How does it help seeing if she has bad grammar? I've come across several people that are very poor with grammar, and spelling.

What's not to say 95% of what she says is legitimate yet she's a scammer?

This can happen anywhere and by almost anyone.

I have had friends get burnt. One close friend saw a woman for some years in a long-distance relationship and got burnt when she fell pregnant to one of her other "boyfriends" (she was not in Poland, but nearby).

Simply put - you just can't tell and have to go on instinct and have some guard up.

At very best you might be able to find out if she's pretty much who she says she is - lives where she says etc. That won't protect you against someone just seeing what they can get. Not much different to anywhere - much like being in a bar and girls flirt to get drinks bought.

I'd just say, if you enjoy your discussions with her, feel free. If you can meet her, even better. Be somewhat cautious if asked for money or to pay things.

(Different matter - don't these forums have any notifications? I've not had 1!)

Knock it off with the Internet dating and find a girl in real life.

When your a single Dad and don't drink how do you find someone in real life please?

In that case good luck to you :) you don't need any other proof.
I'd only be concern why doesn't she want to use video-camera, is she a "he"or something else and plays a "big deal" here?

thank you this has put my mind a little to rest, as for concerns yes i agree she could be a he.

Thanks again, if it wasn't for people like yourselves it would be very easy for scammers to con people and for genuine people never to take a leap of faith...the minute I hear she needs money is the time to get suspicious.

I don't think this forum allows you to get notified of messages, however if you click on my theads at the top it will show if any1 has replied to you.

Is there anything I can do to see if she is genuine without her thinking i'm checking up on her please?

Not much chance of it working if you have to ask a forum if the person you are dating is genuine or not?

Can you imagine how she would feel if she saw this thread?

Just my opinion.

Apparently he knows as much as you do. But at times being pessimist is the best way to go. Think of it like this :
There are 2 chances:

1.You are either talking to a true Polish woman
2. You are not talking to a Polish woman, but to a woman of different nationality. Or a man..

Let's assume she is a Polish girl and is 29 (or around 29)...there are other possibilities:

1.She wants to rip you off
2. She doesn't want to rip you off.

All in all, there are 2 probabilities:

1-you are naive
2-you are not naive.

Have you ever spoken to her on the phone? Have you only had internet communication? If so, "She" doesn't sound real. She's hard of hearing (doubt it. that's just the scammer's excuse as to why 'she' hasn't spoken to you by phone), she finds video phones difficult (no, that's another excuse. 'She' doesn't exist. It's a scammer). Sorry.

If she was a scammer she wouldn't text you internet would be enough for her. If she is regularly replying you and answering all your questions in the way which makes sense for you it means she is not a scammer. And trust yourself a little bit more don't get attached too much before seeing her. Internet is not the best method but still there is chance to meet with good people.

Maybe not naive, but very, very paranoid.

...I have just started chatting with this polish girl who's 29 and she seems genuine but I have been misled before with Russian and American girls starting a relationship with me, to find out within a few days or so they are Nigerian scammers....

Nigerian scams are so despicable and lots of old people become an easy prey, but if you can’t beat them, join them!

I’ve revised a Nigerian letter to your conditions so hopefully you’ll be able to get some truth out of her! See how she’ll react. :)

LAGOS, NIGERIA.

ATTENTION: THE PRESIDENT/CEO

DEAR MRS,

CONFIDENTIAL BUSINESS PROPOSAL

HAVING CONSULTED WITH MY COLLEAGUES AND YOUR BRITISH BOYFRIEND BASED ON THE INFORMATION GATHERED FROM THE BRITISH AND POLISH CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY, I HAVE THE PRIVILEGE TO REQUEST FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE TO TRANSFER THE SUM OF $47,500,000.00 (FORTY SEVEN MILLION, FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND UNITED STATES DOLLARS) INTO YOUR ACCOUNTS. THE ABOVE SUM RESULTED FROM AN OVER-INVOICED CONTRACT, EXECUTED COMMISSIONED AND PAID FOR ABOUT FIVE YEARS (5) AGO BY A FOREIGN CONTRACTOR. THIS ACTION WAS HOWEVER INTENTIONAL AND SINCE THEN THE FUND HAS BEEN IN A SUSPENSE ACCOUNT AT THE CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA APEX BANK.

WE ARE NOW READY TO TRANSFER THE FUNDS AND THAT IS WHERE YOU COME IN. IT IS IMPORTANT TO INFORM YOU THAT AS CIVIL SERVANTS, WE ARE FORBIDDEN TO OPERATE A FOREIGN ACCOUNT; THAT IS WHY WE REQUIRE YOUR ASSISTANCE. THE TOTAL SUM WILL BE SHARED AS FOLLOWS: 70% FOR US, 25% FOR YOU AND 5% FOR LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL EXPENSES INCIDENT TO THE TRANSFER.

THE TRANSFER IS RISK FREE ON BOTH SIDES. I AM AN ACCOUNTANT WITH THE BRITISH NATIONAL PETROLEUM CORPORATION BASED IN NIGERIA (BNPC-BIN). IF YOU FIND THIS PROPOSAL ACCEPTABLE, WE SHALL REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS:

(A) YOUR WEIGHT, HEIGHT, EYE COLOR, BRA SIZE, AND CURRENT FAMILY SIZE.

(B) YOUR PRIVATE TELEPHONE AND FAX NUMBERS -- FOR CONFIDENTIALITY AND EASY COMMUNICATION.

(C) YOUR LETTER-SIZED FULL FRONTAL NUDITY PICTURES FOR FRAUD VERIFICATION PURPOSES.

ALTERNATIVELY WE WILL FURNISH YOU WITH A WEBCAM DEVICE ALONG WITH A BREAKDOWN OF PICTURES NECESSARY FOR COMPREHENSIVELY COMPLYING WITH WHAT WE REQUIRE OF YOU. THE BUSINESS WILL TAKE US THIRTY (30) WORKING DAYS TO ACCOMPLISH.

PLEASE REPLY URGENTLY.

BEST REGARDS,

YOUR BUSINESS ASSOCIATES

Please note - this is only a joke! I truly hope things will work out for you two and I have a feeling that it will.

Several of my friends have told me online dating is the way of the future. I’ve now been to two weddings of people who met online. A couple who met on match.com was the first one and then a lady friend who met a guy on a parental support website (they both had one kid each from their previous marriages.)

Yet even though I’m aware of some good stories sometimes I also hear about the Nigerian type of scams and then I panic and decide not to try.

One day maybe but in the meantime – seriously - good luck to you both!

It's getting popular, and I'm doing that later tonight. We haven't chatted for ages or anything like that - but if we click when we meet that's great, if not, it isn't a big problem.

Drugs are also "fun"..illegal sex is also "fun"..."fun" is the bait to catch mankind into your nest. Well, how does that touch this topic? The funny thing here is that some n00b starts a thread on how he wants advice on a Polish girl...but then he is not sure if it is a polish girl, let alone a human!

If sex isn't fun, frankly you're doing it the wrong way.

What nest?

In my family we have a saying. What happened once, may not happen twice. But what happened twice, will surely happen for a third time....well, you have been scammed 3 times. I am sure you won't be scammed again because you already left the circle of probabilities.

Dude, you fail at internet. Stop watching tv.

Oh come on, give the guy a break. A Nigerian scammer wouldn't have a working mobile with Polish number. As for her honesty, this remains to be seen, but it's exactly the same as in "real" life. There are normal people using the net too, not everybody is a scammer.

Really? Is it someone in an another country? If so, how do you know it's real? or even if it's someone in the same country, hard to tell it's real isn't it?

Then again, I guess you know just as little about a person you meet in a bar Well, maybe it's a good idea after all, what do I now...

I'm not sure you realize how sophisticated they can be...

All right, but that's a great way to become paranoid. Just watch your wallet and personal data until you know what you're doing, and that's it. Common sense should suffice. As you've said yourself, what do you know about somebody you meet in a bar? They might be a serial murderer for all you know, but it's not a reason to lock yourself up at home and stop talking to people. I know some great people that I've met on the Internet first, they're very real and we remain good friends - yes, I've met them in person too. And there is a married couple among them, who also met on a net forum and it wasn't even a dating site.

Am I to believe that all the nicks here on PF are boots and scammers? ;)
