Poland is a country roughly the size of the Philippines, but with half the population. Where are all the people? I wondered when I first arrived. Driving through Poland’s towns and cities, the streets seemed unusually quiet and empty
And what are the plus points of being a Filipino in Poland? They have a great health care system, at least compared to the Philippines which is practically nonexistent. Me and my babies received excellent care at the public hospital both times I gave birth. Bureacracy runs much faster, smoother and more efficient. So far I didn’t have any cause for complaint regarding official documents for my stay here. The Polish people still complain a lot about their government and everything else about their country, but then complaining is their national hobby.
Shopping here is a delight. They have lots of charming little shops in every town. Even now I still have the urge to drop by every store I pass by to see what kind of treasures I might discover there.
It’s strange but people here think of the Philippines as a kind of paradise, where people laze by the beach or sleep in hammocks under palm trees the whole day, while Filipinos think of Europe as a land of luxury and high class.
