med school is free in Poland?

Of course. Provided it's full time and at a public university.

Caminoreal your just a puppet, why not stop writing post's in numerous name's. I don't hate american's, but I do hate people that decide to disrespect the country that is providing them with a living or education.

Why haven't you started a course in Polish, it would be for free?

Because the 4 year program here was presented to me as being based on US curriculum, which I thought would make it easier to transition back to the US. Also, I was already nearly 25 when I came here! The thought of being with teenagers in my classes did not really appeal to me.

Pretty sure all I said was that people in Poznan are in fact ruder than they are in my hometown...

There is no such thing as half-time medical course... medycyna zaoczna/wieczorowa? lol :D
I also don't know any non-public medical university in Poland. It's too expensive for private sector to set up such schools.

Of course, you just happened to check PF on this day coincidentally, didn't you?

Tell you what - let's make a deal. If you're a real person (female, American, born in Poland, etc) - come to the multilingual meetings that I organise every week - and if you're genuine, I'll make a donation to a charity in Poznan of your choosing. And I'll post a full apology on here, too.

Ah, I see it's sockpuppet day.

Wow! Very cool.

It's hard to pass entrance exams (or matura on such level to be accepted). Also dropping rate is very high. I've just checked some random forums and people say there it's about 30 % students in the first year. But the education in Poland is for free. During your times in Poland it was also for free (for Polish citizens).

I can believe it - I've heard some real horror stories about the workload placed upon Polish students. As you said about your friend - there's no time for drinking/etc with them.

So Caminoreal, you go to a different country and you are annoyed that the locals are not the same as your home town. What did you expect, everyone to say have a nice day. You should check out Des Bishop(american living in ireland), he does great anti have a nice day thing.

Silence...

Could it be that "she" doesn't want to take me up on the offer, because "she" has a penis and is actually an Indian from Toronto?

It is difficult to fool the English especially if you happen to be a second rank student.Lying does not work in this case.Though as I say before people in this forum can be bullies for free in real world they would face consequences saying this stuff in the face of doctors.

Ah, I see it's sockpuppet day.

Honestly, you do not really seem to be all too friendly, why would I want to spend any of my precious little spare time with you?

I know you enjoy threatening people online, or at least on this forum, which inclines me to believe that it might not be too safe to meet you in person. Besides, I have never had to resort to using the internet to make real life friends. So thanks but no thanks!

Reading comprehension was not your strongest subject in school, was it?

I think you can easly cut it out. Just form a reply in Polish for example about what you think about the educational level of the medical course in Polish. I believe moderator will forgive because it will bring the argument between you and delphiandomine to the end :)

My biggest gripe about Poznan is...delphiandomine get ready to attack this arrogant American...the winter weather. I always wished it were colder as the temp is mostly zero or above. Whenever it snows, it melts into this soupy dirty mess. How arrogant of me. Bad, very bad. Other than that, it's a great place.

you haven't been here last year I guess

this winter is exceptional - actually where I live there was some snow only for two or three day so far and there won't gonna be any snow for another week probably - and such weather is actually bad for agriculture and other parts of nature (leaf buds are swollen and when the serious frost comes eventually it can kill them)

Awww. I'm so surprised that you don't want to take me up on the offer. I mean - here's me offering to make a decent donation to charity (WOSP is topical, so let's say that) - and you don't want to spend ten minutes of your time to help? What a surprise. Really. Absolutely normal for big mouths on internet forums though - they talk the talk, but when called out, they always come up with some excuse.

I mean - could it be that you're really an alias of "WhyMedSchool" and that you aren't a "Polish female who has done 2 degrees already"? Nah...can't be!

Really - if you're going to use a sockpuppet, at least try and be a bit more credible.

This winter, I totally agree with you - it's horrible. The last couple of winters have been fantastic - it was snowing, then lying for weeks on end - no soupy mush! But this one - yuck.

Last two years we had -10 for weeks on end with the temp barely getting above -5. I remember back in 2006 a fairly warm winter period, but that was also the year Wroclaw hit -37 and there was snow on the ground till late March.

What years are you referring too?

Considering the fact I gave a short personal history and this person just spouts off without ever defining his credentials, no, I'm done. I certainly do not want to meet an internet crazy in person, nor do I really feel there is anything productive that will come out of continuing to argue with him - he has nothing to back up his arguments, other than apparently hanging out in grocery stores. So he can take his petty, jealous, uneducated, anti- North American arguments elsewhere. I'll return to my studies.

If anybody has anything of value to say in regards to the medical curriculum here, I would be interested in what you have to say.

In other words : despite being caught out royally for using a sockpuppet, you continue to pretend to be a Polish female.

I'll raise the stakes - let's make it 500zl for WOSP. Only condition is that you show your face sometime this month in person at the weekly Language Exchange Club meetings in Poznan. They're in a public place - you have nothing to lose, after all. Of course...this assumes that you're a real person.

If anybody has anything of value to say in regards to the medical curriculum here, I would be interested in what you have to say.

Yes, it's a third rate joke of a course that will accept anyone who has the money to pay for the fees. Happy?

We see here that medical school in Poznan is ranked 2675th in the world while all US medical schools are in top 100.

webometrics.info/top100_europe.asp?country=pl&submit=go

So the question is why should sb pay 18000$ in tuition fees to study in the number 2675 university? The answer is complicated and has to do with the balance of power in Europe and the extreme pressure by local elites to secure positions for their offsprings.

Of course this kind of information makes physicians extremely angry let's say we are bullies for free here I do my duty as superior Balkan shepherd and for fun.

Strictly speaking, it's a list of the university rankings, rather than a list of medical school rankings - the Poznan medical school may well be much better than it appears. Then again... it could be even worse - especially if it's full of Americans who can't even cross the road safely yet! Maybe he's scared of the dark like Canadians are, eh? lol.

Besides, if you look on the UK list, it lists the "Royal College Of Nursing" - which is a union, and not really a place to study in the traditional "university" sense. And they list some pretty dodgy former polytechnics as being "superior" to well-regarded proper universities, so I find that list a little dubious to say the least ;)

Actually this list is pretty accurate because it focuses on separate faculties ranking(medical schools). It is the kind of information noone wants to see published and this ranking is caused by a lot of factors.

However as I said before the value of medical school degree is ultimately decided by social factors(power and money of the parents of students they simply press for and achieve the recognition of diploma as equivalent to any other).
