speaking the truth: i feel much safer in polish cities (with exception of Bydgoszcz) than in british towns- especially on fri- and saturdays nights.

One day before leaving the UK, a snow ball was thrown at me from a passing car. I thought, what the hell, I'm pulling out of this hell hole.

I know this is a year out of date and Yoshi doesnt come here any more, but the places he mentioned are shi**y ghettos full of foreigners and students and scrotes...What do you expect? I live in a nice leafy burb and dont have any of these problems...as for Piccadilly, its not full of prostitutes they're all behind strangeways...all the rent boys hang round the side of Piccadilly near the car rental place...just to correct you on that.

As for Poland, I found it to be a safe place, didnt feel worried about walking after dark...but as already stated there must be some right hovels that not even a Pole would go near after dark!

I felt real danger only in Germany when I was close to some shooting. In countries like Poland,Ukraine I feel more dangerous than them,in Greece I go everywhere even parks etc and I don't feel any danger at all in spite of drug addicts,Blacks everywhere.

In USA there is some danger if you enter some other race teritorry but usually you have b
no reason to do so.

Poland is fine, safety wise - problems aren't unknown, but that goes for every city in the world. compared to other countries Poland is remarkably safe. Theft and other petty crime however is a different story.

lol, spot on. I was going to jokingly say "you can join me in Northern Moor if you want, lol" but he's gone now and he probably wouldn't have got the message anyway, haha.

I live in a nice leafy burb and dont have any of these problems

Me too, no drive-by shootings here! :)

£ódź - Bałuty

You heard of Schodnia? I live there...and i don't go out at night. Baluty is a safe suburb compared to this street!

I am just back from Krakow, I went with a group of Irish people. I was in the city about 4 hours and I got split up from the lads so I search all over the place for them. I was taken to a club by 3 polish people who I thought were very nice to me and when I got into the club they dissapeared so I went to leave I was attacked on the stairs of the night club by about 4 polish men - they hit me with bottles and stole my phone, money, cards, PASSPORT etc... I had to go to hospital. I thought the majority of Polish people in Krakow were unfriendly and rude. I did not enjoy my time there and will never return. My Polish friends back in Dublin were not suprised and said this happens a lot. If you respect tourism then protect the tourist. Krakow is a dump.

Krakow is a dump.

Every city has shady district. But basing on your story I think you were a bit carefree. A couple of strange bt friendly guys invites you to some unknown place and you go. Well, I recon you could be drunk too. But anyway this shouldn't happen to you, of course. I myself was never mugged in Krakow or anything similar. I guess I don't go with strangers to bars too.

shush you...

Wroclaw, you know how many times we've been beatup over here....

The only time that I've ever had problems was with people of a bit darker complexion....and after over two years, that's it. Nothing more than a couple of punk ass racists. The ratio is about the same as in the US or Germany....

Warszawa - Praga-Północ

There are sme good bars and clubs in Praga. if you visit Warsaw you must check them out. After living in PL for many years you will come across two types of people on your night out, the drunk and happy or the drunk and agressive. If you come across the more agressive, just move on and don't get sucked into an argument. The Poles don't discuss, they will hit first - this is how they are brought up. There are some bars in Krakow especially Kazimierz Krakow and around the Rynek, you will get spotters looking for guys spending lots of cash, so don't flash the cash, otherwise you are likely to get a knock on the head. The same goes for Warsaw, you have bars that are not foreigner friendly. Warsaw you are more likely to get your drink spiked and then rolled when you leave the bar.It goes on, everyone here knows about it.

Depends where you live, I mean you can get jumped everywhere. Just because a couple people got attack doesn't mean Poland isn't safe. I've been living in Poland my whole life and I feel really safe. Just don't go out at night and stuff.

everywhere around the world there is hate and violence .... like in any country , poland has a few of those idiots that just look for trouble .

I can assure you that compared to other countries in europe Poland is one of the safest , children walk around the cities and towns on their own without any trouble. Never have i heard of a gun shooting or murder in poland.

in L.A. them gangs run around shooting everyone in their path.
and what about UK or Germany ? and what about France ?
have you heard about what goes on there at night ?

Merged thread:
No one is going to steal from you in Poland, leave your doors open!

I have noticed Poland's low crime rates. Some people even say that they can leave their cars parked with keys in ignition. Is Poland really that Safe? Please discuss.

go ahead and leave your door to your apartment unlocked and opened and go to work, tell me what happened tomorrow. Do the same with your car..

it's funny, but where I lived growing up, i never even took the keys out of the ignition. i have family that not only still does that but leaves their front door unlocked all the time.

it all comes down to specifically where you live.

so is here, where I live too.

Where are the safest places to live in Poland?

Those might be the people who drove really fast on the Autobahn and didn't notice they are already in Germany.

BTW, I've not seen a car parked with keys in ignition ever in my life.
