I think England is more safe than Poland. You can hear some thing about London or Liverpool from time to time but they are ******* big cities. London more than 10 milion i recon with all Polish and other people working there without any documents. So i think on this % of crime all cities in UK are a lot better than places in Poland like Krakow Warsaw or any other (even in small places like Lublin Zamosc or any other at east of Poland are fuckin ruff and im not talking about weekend only). The true is all getting worst and worst. Just wait for time when all youngsters gonna get guns and this ****. Take care. Sorry for any mystakes with writing.;)
without knowing anything about polish language can i travel safely in Poland? I want to see poznan and warsaw most, then i want to go Cracow, i love historical places.
the bad storys about poland are comparable to england and america thoght you get good and bad every where come to pakistan carry a ak-47 in ya 4+4 amozon anyone tryu to rob ya shootem dead any one try to rob ya house shoot them dead anyone try to rape you shoot em dead all leagally thives have no say in this country
in england beat up a thive or a robber kill a rapist or a pedophile and your the one that gets sent to prison
in america shoot a man dead cuss you think your house is getting robbed only to find out you shot a drunk
polandsince all the polles are migrating to the uk dont think anyone exept gangsters mobs mafia and ruffians gunna be left to run the country
mmm im going to lodz on my own to see my gf. and im sure it will be safe with her. im from northern ireland and londer saying the poles should leave the uk why dont u's brits get the fck out of are country. im from south armagh also known as bandit country and its actually safe.
I personally have been jumped twice in Warsaw and am aware of a number of other cases where friends of mine have been attacked, one case was extremely serious, the guy was given a 15% chance of surviving. I don't think the press like reporting attacks on foreigners and I also think if you are in the ex-pat majority, suits who just go everywhere door-to-door by cab it's easy to think it's safe here. Try the night bus sometime!
I am an Englishwoman and have been living in Poland on my own for over two years. First in Warsaw and now in Gdansk. I have travelled on all froms of public transport visiting many areas. I have also walked home after midnight.
I did have my money stolen once on a tram in Warsaw but have never felt myself to be in any physical danger.
Here in the UK we have manners and ettiquettes, we dont behave like uncivilised yobs and animals.
- You might want to preach that mantra to your drunk country man that board easy-jets on the way to Krakow every weekend... Im also sick of seeing those intoxicated, impertinent buffons running around my city exposing their different intimate body parts, so PLEASE keep your high culture on the island.
I Just came back from Krawkow. On a night out I found the streets relatively safe. The people are pretty similar to English - they like to drink and there were one or two people who were drunk and obviously looking for a fight - but as a rule I dont think theres too much difference.
Of course living there might be different.
As a generalisation I found polish people quite friendly and willing to help with directions and helping tourists. I also have to say the women are beautiful and friendly.
i have been to gdansk, krakow and poznan and just the same as i have been to glasgow, edinburgh and dundee........
you dont walk dark streets at night- very simple
not if you can avoid it...........
the last place was krakow and as far asthe disco were concerned it seems very relaxed
if you go to glasgow there is much more trouble
i dont know maybe more people are not from krakow but are holidaymakers so are not looking for trouble, but then again i think it was mostly polish people in the discos
Cities are the same all over the world...trust me , i have been to many , there are parts of the city where its qute safe , and parts where its best not go alone at night...Think of your own city where you live , there are parts where you would tell a stranger not to go , and nice area,s too....I find its always best to get hold of a native that lives there and go on their advice , failuing that , just try not to look like a lost tourist....
I went by myself to Gdańsk in October and I walked all over the city. Especially the old town. When dusk came, I headed back to where I was staying. Had absolutely no problems. Never felt unsafe.
I've spent seven years in Manchester, i.e. one year near Piccadilly station (full of whores), a year in Victoria Park (mugging hot spot), and five years in two different locations in Levenshulme (just bad in every sense). Quite often, I threw a number of empty bottles at cretins trying to steal my motorbike from the backyard. In one occasion, some thugs came to nick my classic motorbike, so I went out with "Bokutou (木刀)", which literally means wooden sword and I guess they were too scared to challenge a mad and fat Japanese skinhead with something like that. They were arrested right after leaving my place on a stolen car that they crashed just around the corner. I think they needed a tad bit more driving lessons. A female cop that turned up afterwards was very kind and treated the Japanese chemical engineer very well. One very hot summer day, a hooded moron followed me for good ten minutes, so I turned back and walked straight to him. He looked at me, said "Oh, fuck!" and ran away. About a week before I was leaving the UK for good, I took a bus, and it was full of teenage idiots from the B-----e high school, shouting and throwing rubbish. There was one mother with her little son on their way to a local hospital as the boy had an ear infection. Every time they asked them to be quiet, the monkeys became louder, and that really blew my fuse. I yelled like a crazy warring samurai, "SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU INBRED MORONS!". Another problem sorted.
One day before leaving the UK, a snow ball was thrown at me from a passing car. I thought, what the hell, I'm pulling out of this hell hole.
Now, I'm in Krakow, and I experience absolutely zero issues regarding safety. It's quiet, safe and clean, probably not as much as Tokyo, but certainly good enough for me.
I guess it depends what a safe place is for you. I have been in Wroclaw for nearly two months, and have had no problem, except some people looking at me and laughing at me, since I am one of very few Asians here. And in train station, some homeless people approached me and begged for money quite persistently, but the other passers-by always seem to be ready to help me. I have heard that drunkards here could be nuisances but that is just the same with the other countries, but so far, the drunkards that I have met are all friendly and, when you face those people, you may as well want to show that you are more drunk and crazier than them, and they just become your equal. I guess it is up to how you carry on yourself. When you face some security problems here, then those things could happen in the other places or other countries, as well. In all, I do not think that Poland is a dangerous place.
When I was in Krakow back in October I had no problems although I was stupid. I went to one of the clubs lost my map to Krakow. So it took me like an hour to find my hostel but I never ran into problems. But my hostel got robbed and some girl lost her bag full of clothes. Poland is pretty safe but people must remain vigilant and watch there stuff at all times as well as take security precautions like locking windows of hostels.
I am living 4,5 years in Warsaw now and never have experienced any personal danger. That said and done I do avoid the rougher places: Praga (despite all the articles proclaiming it fashionable-to-be place) is very rough and best to be avoided, some streets even in daytime. The public parks at night-time(I guess that goes for any big city). The rough 24-hr bars with their peculiar nightlife. The area of some of Warsaw's railway stations is best to be avoided. Though not Warszawa Centralna... as grimy as it looks it is actually quite safe - has to has the highest concentration of cops and security guards pr square metre in the whole of Poland.
The only thing I experienced once was coming out from home in the morning and to find out that some moron made a deep scratch over the whole length of my car. I guess he was not a fan of VW Touran :)
And most of the drunks are more an annoyance than a danger - though boy they can smell as sewer hole. On the end the biggest danger of all I find the absolute kamikaze behaviour of the average Polish driver.
Safety is another good discussion. Personally, I feel safe here. Poles don't seem to have the 'you are big and I am big so let's fight' idea unless they are drunk and lacking reason. Lead a quiet life and don't tread on toes and all will be well.
