Polish rock bands from the 70's and 80's.

Hello everybody !!!

I was wondering if some of you could help me. I have been "discovering" Polish bands lately (like Breakout, Kobranocka, Kult, Republika, etc.). I was surprised, or better, very impressed. I would like to know more Polish bands, perhaps from the 70's and 80's ... and especially those ones making rock or blues, but any genre would be great !!!!

Check out Lady Pank - they had some very good songs.

dżem is from the early eighties pretty rocky

I do like them, cheesy though they are.

Perfect should be mentioned too.

It has to be said - Polish is a hell of a language for rock ballads.

Movie (avaliable on YT) "To tylko rock" 1983 features quite few popular in early 80s bands.Most notably Lady Punk,Oddzial Zamknięty and Dezerter.

Closterkeller is nice. it's not from te 70', but late 80'. pretty much till Cyan got released in '96, they were playing good, proper rock (although, some people may classify it otherwise- new wave, gothic etc).

Bajm used to play rock as well (it doesn't anymore)

I'm looking for this group but can't remember the name but i believe was dimondi or something like that. They sung this song line I shot the sherif tonight sherif tonight .... I've been looking for them since the 87 when a friend shared that music with me she was Polish and wad a Polish group

Do you mean that they did a cover version of 'I Shot the Sheriff' by Bob Marley? Or is it a completely different song? The lyric in the Bob Marley one goes: I shot the Sheriff but I didn't shoot no deputy.

Eric Clapton sings 'I did not shoot the deputy' Johnny, while Bob sings 'I didn't shoot no deputy'. So we're both right :))

Saw Perfect in concert when they opened the new galeria in Lubin back in 2009.

All I can say is wow, what a great band.

Have Dzem in my cd player in my car.

My husband loves Dzem but I'm not into them at all. I find them very derivative, as if they were searching for some sound of their own but never quite found it and a lot of their playing is pretty leaden and uninspired. But the poor old vocalist, God rest his soul, had some charisma and I know his lyrics mean a lot to many people. What I admire most about Dzem or any of those bands of that time, is that they were trying to be creative in a very conservative, repressive society that didn't exactly encourage individualism or personal freedom. The combination of Church and Communism must have been very stifling so hats off to them for what they achieved.
