Questions on unlocking a sim in Warsaw

An item with which I am not acquainted. My brother in Belgium got the newest IPhone, and his other one he wants to give me - me finally moving into smartphone land :). But it needs to have the simlock removed.

Here in Warsaw there are lots of places who remove simlock...But do they all offer the same service? Is the deblocking done on the spot while you wait? And how does that work in reality?

And finally, how much might it cost approx. ?

How old is the phone? If the contract which it was bought with has expired, the operator has to unlock it when asked to do so.

Harry, no idea. It is a Belgian IPhone. he got it in a package from his local Belgian provider. I will ask him. But I heard unlocking IPhones can be a hassle.

It can indeed be a hassle (and thus an expense). But if he got it as part of a package from a Belgian operator and the contract he got it with is finished, they have to unlock it for him.

All belgian phone are unlocked cause it's illegal for the provider to lock them. Are you sure your brothers bought it in Belgium ?

make sure you have a icloud account and back it up for any pics/contacts as most simlock opening place will not tell you that you will loose all info esp the latest one iphone 5s

Just smashed my phone screen and need it badly for the next 3-4 days. Do you know where in Warsaw I can find somewhere that will extract the SIM without damaging it more and I can buy a cheap simple phone - I'm in the middle of town near Dw. Centralny.

In the corridors under Dw. Centralny, there are several places. I've used the one between the entrance from the corridor to the WKD station and the entrance on the other side of Jerozolimskie however there are a few others and they all seem much the same.
