Poznan or Wroclaw - which city is more foreigner-friendly?

hello there !!! i was planning to move to Poland very soon ... and i was just wondering which city ..poznan or wroclaw is more foreigner friendly to settle in ... ??? cheerz

Definitely Poznan. Wroclaw, sadly, has crappy infrastructure, bad architecture and I wouldn't recommend it. All that apply to everyone, not only foreigners, but I cannot say about the attitude.

Wroclaw, I'd say. Poznan is rather "cold" towards foreigners, unless you're a student. There isn't much cultural happenings here either.

In the centre, yes - but you can clearly see that it was wrecked during WWII.

Would Poles consider Lwow or Wilno to be more attractive cities then Poznan or Wroclaw?

I don't know what Olaf is talking about regarding architecture, because both cities are more or less in the same category.
Regarding infrastructure he is right, untill next year when some important works will be finished including highway bypass of Wroclaw. But I suppose public transport still will be a little better in Poznan.

Well it all depends on your goals... From leisure perspective it goes like this:
- if you prefer to be closer to lakes, Baltic Sea, Warsaw, Gdansk and Berlin then Poznan is for you
- if you prefer to be closer to mountains, Polish and Czechs(preferably...) ski resorts, Cracow, Praque and well Berlin, then Wroclaw is for you

Not really, if you consider architectonic mish-mash and modern buildings entwined with old ones. The market square, however, is remarkable, I admit.


and from then onwards, also having paved transit roads (not beautiful but old and very uneven) in the very centre of Wroclaw is too much for me, hence my opinion.

Wroclaw is and always has been my favourite Polish city. Havent been to Poznan and dont really have any intentions of ever visiting.

I've been to Poznan 100 times and I live in Wroclaw.....I guess it would depend on how old you are, your travel interests and what your profession is if you're looking for work.

Wroclaw every time, only drawback is all the roadworks, infrastucture projects going on at the moment. I live out by the new stadium and driving a few miles to the centre takes an hour..But its not forever. The architecture is what you would expect..some cutesy historic stuff, some bland euro-modern and some post war drab concrete stuff..but I grew up in London so I quite like that kind of mix!

!!! POZNAŃ !!! i have many foreign friends who love the life of Poznań's city...but i guess it's true that it depends on how old you are. you can find on YouTube great videos about the city: look under ->

If you are in the business sector; Poznan! Many international companies are located here.

However, most foreigners per capita you can find in Krakow.

Same we could say about Wroclaw. HP, LG, Volvo, Google, KPMG, Bosch, Siemens etc.

Seriously frozendessert, I think Wroclaw and Poznan are on the same level. But Wroclaw for me has a more cosmopolitical sound, as it was in the hands of very different countries throughout history.

I have a chance to study in University of Poznan- International Business or in Wroclaw University of Technology- Organizational Management. I do not know which one to choose. Considering future job opportunities, living conditions, reputations and so on. Which one would you choose and why?

If you look for business definitely Poznań. It seems to be safer there too.Wrocław is more interesting when it comes to various events, life is more colourful but less organized due to traditions and background of habitants. The most attractive is Gdynia.
