Hello everyone;

I have been reading about Poland and polish people. I have found many posts (on this website and many others) about racism, xenophobia and bigotry in Poland. However, the same websites have posts about how nice polish people are to foreigners of different color and religions. I am not really sure what to believe. I am a foreigner who will be relocated to Krakow (Short Term) and I was hoping someone would shed some light on this matter.

Poland being a homogenous society, most Poles have never seen anyone with a different religion and/or color so at best, they keep their distance. Most foreigners (when different) live apart. Basically, they don't like blacks ("apes"), Jews, muslims (all "terrorists"), Indians.... and everybody not white and catholic. This is unfortunately not limited to Poland since such mentality can be found in all Eastern Europe (places like Russia are much worse - pathetic! ).

To get an idea, read comments here re blacks, jews and muslims and you'd get an idea... ;(

If you are "different', go to Western Europe where you'll get it easier.

There are circa 37 mln of Poles in Poland. Is it surprise that they have different views on such matters?

I love going to Poland. 3x per year.. Poznan, Wroclaw and Warsaw. no problems unless an arse in a hotel issue. such as crown piast in krakow... total rip off. Met a few nice Africans there....... l grew up in Texarkana , in an area where everyone looks like me.... So Poland is quite refreshing for an AA, love when everyone is staring... certainly does not happen in LA!!

love the food, music, Sopot, amber.. its my favorite place to vacation.. now they even have fat clothes , thanks to kfc and cinnabon... lol. i dont even diet anymore before going.... and can shop like a regular Pole now... they are getting large.
