How a Pole can contribute to the homeland?

After so many times reading those silly cliche comments about Poles should come back home "to build their country", I can't help myself from asking what does it actually mean? So they should come back and do exactly what? Set up a business which will go bankrupt and squander all of their saved money? Don't set up a business and remain unemployed (hence become a burden for the society)?

I'm fed up with such and similar pieces of "smart advice", not only regarding immigrants but also Poles living in Poland - for instance (a new one read today) that they should "roll their sleeves up and get to work"... question where and how?

I quite agree. So many people here are working two jobs or going to university (and still working) you would think that their sleeves cannot be pulled up much more.

Poland does not set the EU's spending budget, they can only apply like anyone else. French farmers have been milking the system for years.

They have at least fought off recession, a feat which most other EU countries (who somehow believe themselves superior) failed to do.

You mean Poland or France here?
If Poland then you should know that it has not fought off recession, it had just a terribly good luck and merely postponed it.

That's sounds like a solution preferred by russian government. Shame on you!

The difference for instance between France and Poland is that France loses several billions euros per year whereas Poland wins all the way.

France is the second payer (after Germany, and in front of Italy and UK) whereas Poland is the no.1 reciepient and contributes 0 or close to 0 - cf. UE data.

As to agricultural funds, UK gets a lot and not only the British farmers (normal) but also the royal family (mainly Prince Charles) (not normal).

Like François Hollande said 2 days ago: "there are countries that pay and there are countries that just come to pick up their checks"

Fortunately, this bs of the UE is about to collapse and so much the better! ;)

Who gives a flying f... about France? Due to their President's dithering it won't be long before they go cap in hand to the IMF begging for a bailout.

The OP was asking for suggestions of how a Pole could contribute to their homeland...

changing the government will be a start.

there have been many serious non-partisan debates organized by main opposition party, PiS.

And just how exactly would PI.SS be better than PO for Poland?
What changes would you expect to see?

Apparently Poles are sending home £3 Billion a year out of the UK economy to Poland.

how can people without a job send so much? ;)
doesnt this generate a ******** of taxes for the uk?

Paying 20% in taxes on a low income doesn't really count when you scrounge it all back (and more) in the form of Tax Credits, Child Benefits and Social Housing now does it?

Damn, your country must pay tens of billions in benefits to Poles, considering they dont send back everything and you claim they receive more.
You seem to be good with statistics, care to back that up?

Some PolAms have sponsored young Poles (often cousins or otehr relatives) to come over here, study and/or acquire valubale job experience in America they can take back to the Old Country.

When it comes to individual? Nothing! That is meaningless expression!
If there were social network abound which Poles could find their place and contribute to common goal, it would be different!Communism destroyed all such networks.

Find a need and fill it. What does Poland need, what would sell? And when you fail...try again and fail again. Success doesn't come from success, success comes from failure. My advice is for you to do what you would do even if you weren't getting paid to do it. In other words do what you enjoy doing...and keep doing it.

Could you be a fan of Winston Churchill?

Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.

Nice aphorism. Now, maybe something more real life?

My advice is for you to do what you would do even if you weren't getting paid to do it. In other words do what you enjoy doing

Not everyone is given the chance to do what they like. Let alone not everyone is blessed with the knoweldge what they would like to do in their life...

That is reality. To succeed in anything you have to lose your fear of failure. So just chose something to do, and do it enough until you get good at it in spite of your setbacks.

Example, I knew a fellow who wanted to be a bartender. Unfortunately he didn't have any experience, so everytime he answered an ad for a bartender he never had the experience to get hired. Finally, he went to a job interview where he told them he had the experience. After one day they found out he didn't have the experience and fired him from the job. He went on another job interview and told them he had the experience, after two days of work they found out he didn't have the experience and fired him from the job. This went on for the first five jobs and after the sixth job he finally had the experience to stay on the job. Moral of the story is to find out what you want to do and pursue it.

Not everyone is given the chance to do what they like. Let alone not everyone is blessed with the knoweldge what they would like to do in their life...

What are three things that you like doing?

Vote for regressive PIS or the "do nothing /market dictates" PO, or run. The 3 choices of modern Poland. Or join the fully regressed Slavic Nationalist finding solace in a fictional homeland.

I don't believe that, you've always appeared (from your posts) to be rather curious. Curious people have interests.

Polish women of two types, either super scrupulous or amoral and anything goes. From your post you must be of the former.

Okay the question is, how can a Pole contribute to the homeland.

Here's an opportunity and something I would pursue if I lived in Poland and was looking to make a enough money to support myself. Notice this article about Poland signing an agreement with Germany about a gas supply.

warsawvoice.pl/WVpage/pages/article.php/23038/news/10224/47731

Well, I was thinking wouldn't Poland be better off with it's own gas? Where can Poland get it's own gas? How about bio digesters? Are they feasible?

Thank you for the compliment but I really can't think of anything now.

How about shale gas? It's now a great discussion in Poland concerning extracting the shale gas but unfortunatly it will never be a solely Polish business since Poland has no technology and will have to sell concessions to foreign companies. Now the trail drills are carried out in the search of the best deposits.

Well, I was thinking wouldn't Poland be better off with it's own gas? Where can Poland get it's own gas? How about bio digesters? Are they feasible?

Wasn't it prooved to be in fact very expensive source of energy? Besides that, I'm not firmly sure, but I believe that it's already in Poland.

Nonetheless, these are branches of industry which an average Pole have no decisive power, nor can contribute anything in this field unless being an engineer/specialist of this kind of industry.

Myabe you could suggest something an average Kowalski have competence to do?

Actually, that was a cornball comment on my part. I was trying to match wits but it fell flat.

Poland doesn't have the technology for this.

Bio digesters are low tech and within your reach. Here's how you do it:
1. Find feedstock, could be waste from factory, small village, farm, etc.
2. Locate appropriate size bio digester on internet. Find costs, etc.
3. Locate customer for product that your bio digester is going to produce.
4. Go to bank and get business loan.
5. A lot of legwork but...Simple!
