i hope that December 2010 winter in Krakow-Polandia will be cold, and i would love to see there some snow and not only gray, dirty streets... yay! i'm excited!
well, it is still nice in Szczecin, chilly but dry.......no winter here, just windy - till nothing to worry about in comparison to Canadian winter my ass.
Lmao it is still autumn, winter is just beginning in two months lmao two months are not a little. Right now it is in my opinion a bit too cold for this season, I mean it is October.
A few years back , my girlfriend who is a teacher in Moscow took a group of kids to the theatre , it was minus 40 , but not one of the kids failed to show for the concert...
Jeez , in the UK the parents would have sued her for attempted murder....
Of course in the UK there is the usual disaster as half an inch of snow falls , the schools close , and the traffic grinds to a halt....
The Polish drivers living in the UK must laugh their asses off....!
yeah seen that once in South London- I don't know why but the English don't care to buy winter tyres - and then comes some 4 cm snow and only the SUV's seem to be able to go uphill (can't remember about buses though)
still I was told about some pretty snowy winters in England - the worst in 1947 AFAICR when anecdotally buses would disapear in snowdrifts in the North of England
and as for long term weather forecasting it very often proves to be very inaccurate - the example from this summer - while May was very cold and very wet too and June was not quite warm either there were some forecasts issued that the rest of the summer would be equally cool and wet - then came July with tropical heat and hardly any rain and August was not chilly either - even some natural phenomema supposed to indicate coming weather fail - it is though that some mushrooms appear in large numbers just before cool weather gets hold - this year it was just completely different - we had one of the warmest Novembers on record
I was born in 1953 , and as a child living on the north east coast of Yorkshire i can remember having snow drifts coming up to the top of the front door , and helicopters taking supplies to small villages cut off by road....
You don,t get winters like that any more in the UK...
Now it seems that half an inch of snow is enough to cause a disaster , each year we have a new generation of drivers that just don,t know how to drive on snow...
Winter tyres are all very well , but they don,t help much if you don,t have a clue how to drive on slippery surfaces.... I am fortunate that i have spent quite a few years on the race track where power sliding into corners teaches you all you need to know about skid control . and i have quite a lot of experiance of driving off road too on tricky surfaces , a bit of snow for me is good fun....
And don,t think having a 4 x 4 will get you out of trouble if you can,t drive... a 4 x 4 is bigger and heavier than a normal car , and if you get into a skid with one it will slide faster and further than a normal car , and probably won,t stop untill you hit something...!
I used to think that learning skid control should be part of the driving test , but i suspect it would just encourage young drivers to drive like rally drivers on public roads...
Always take a shovel at this time of year , as well as some old carpet to shove under the wheels if you get stuck , some warm clothes , and a hot drink...just in case you get stuck anywhere...
I laugh when people are complaining about polish winter, so people in Sweden should run to Africa......................... it has been snowing over a month now in Sweden
woke up to a view of snow covered roofs and cars wearing a coat of white. no snow on the ground though.
There's ice on the water here! It was snowing a little just a couple of hours ago, but it was more like dust, and just wouldn't stick. But I know there will be snow this year, and lots and lots of it!
Monday will be pretty snowy in southern Poland - so is gonna be thursday - so the snow conditions forecast for the mountains is quite optimistic for ski lovers
it is gonna be pretty cold in the Northern Poland especially for the time of the year
all in all it looks like a pretty early start of the winter in most of Europe - snow in N England and N France - snow in Spanish mountains and even as far as Calabrian mountains in Italy
Judging by the traffic yesterday, I'd guess people were going to go skiing in Zakopane and there abouts. I was in Zakopane a month ago and kids were playing in snow... brrrr.
It started snowing here just a couple of days ago but I don't think it'll last long, as it is forecasted to get a bit warmer end of next week.
I am looking forward to going skiing/snowboarding, I hope to actually get to Slovakian slopes this winter... we'll see.
