I've never have any problems with expat shield, never had any problems/viruses, fast and FREE. ;) works with sky player/go itv player/iplayer/4od etc etc, the only thing I cant get to work with it is channel 4 live, all the other live channels work. BBC itv Sky blah blah blah bish bash bosh
I have been using uktvaccess more than a year now. It works great with windows 8 and also with my new android tablet :) so amazing ! great gadgets these tablets ... even faster than my new computer!!!!
sorry but expatshield is a headache, full of adds, drives me crazy. I am asking to all the expatshield and free vpn fans; well, why would you have that terrible service just to have something free! when it isn't really free if it is stealing your peace of mind. What is 4 pounds a month - if you can afford of course - ?
Anyway... up to you ... I like a headache free, smooth service :)
I use expatsheild. But I also use adblock with firefox. No ads. No crap. They added a load of servers to it the other month so its pretty fast. Fast enough for HD.
FilmOn Tv is free if you watch in SD (Standard Definition) and that's great. you have BBC's 1,2, ITV 1,2,3 and 4, ch4 and ch5 and a few others. as for satellite you will struggle to get these channels as the astra footprint just isn't big enough as yet.....for the rest of Sky-tv then normally it's not a problem.
installing your own vpn and accessing bbc iplayer / tvcatchup in poland isnt so hard.
i bought a raspberry pi- installed openvpn , stuck it on a router in a london pub , and use it to watch what ever i want when im away.
if you know someone in the uk , with a reasonable broadband connection , and a nice router , ( maybe even one with a built in vpn server - eg draytek routers ) then your laughing.,..
never tried hotshield / or any other paid varient .... the raspberry cost me 40 odd pounds , and 1hrs configuration .....
You don't have to go through the trouble of installing your own vpn, you can just download Chrome extensions these days. If you have Google Chrome then proxmate.dave.cx works excellently for unblocking content (including region restricted YouTube videos). iPlayer support is coming soon (and can already be accessed if you are willing to pay a small amount). There are other good extensions but the names evade me at the moment.
Try PrivacyProtector.eu - a free, ad-free, browser plug-in that creates a P2P VPN, so there's no central server that allows them to track you. They're a small startup from Krakow :)
I had never imagined watching BBC iplayer in countries like Poland, but thanks to the Streaming VPN, I can now watch it without any hassle and the best part is it comes at a very reasonable option..
There are tons of VPNs available, most of them offer a similar product at a similar price - it's worth looking at some of the websites that compare them.

This is an online administration, which offers the clients with better access to the boundless, brisk, streaming of films, Tv shows, selective substance and trailers. It is a period tried instrument and is in a matter of seconds being utilized by many individuals over the globe. I have been viewing hulu in [suburbs] and its high caliber and flawlessness has urged me to acquaint it with my known individuals. Since there are very little ads and their opportunity being exceptionally less, the project turns into all the additionally immersing.....
Install the plugin mediahint to Firefox and away you go. It's free and works a charm. I use chrome for normal browsing and Firefox for when I want to be in the uk, plus it also works with some American sites too.
Thanks, I installed it that way too, but playback is jerky and distorted. If it's always like that, it would be difficult to watch something. Also, seems that access is not always free: hola.org/faq.html#in_cost
And it also seems to be the case there's some 30-minute limit on the free service. OK, anything free is nice, but if it's just 30 mins a day then there are lots of shows I'd not be able to watch unless I go Premium. For a paying VPN, I have a lot of other options, some of which I know are extremely fast and reliable for only a buck or two more.
A TV licence is only required to watch live broadcasts if its after the original broadcast on iPlayer then a TV licence is not needed still the day iPlayer was released my TV licence was cancelled unless they prove you are watching live broadcasts that's why you only get a licence warning pop up for the live stream not the on demand content
