If that's true, I'll be dead meat when I visit Poland. I will most likely end up in bankruptcy, from all the fines, ha!

If that's true

Also avoid Michigan, Oklahoma, NC, Rhode Island and a couple other States.

AFAIK, there is some rule that says swearing in public places may cost you up to 50 PLN (somebody correct me if i'm wrong) - in practice it would be pretty much impossible to execute it. If you stand in front of a cop yelling out obscenities, you'll get a fine, that's for sure. Other than that, don't worry, you'd have to have real bad luck to get fined for swearing :)

The fine is exactly 50zl, for 'using vulgarisms in public'. It is a civil 'crime' so the fine can't be enforced except by a civil action which takes ages.

That's not true at all although I hear the K word less and less. You can swear and it just depends who is the judge of can and can't.

It can't be true, the whole story is made up, I reckon.
Besides, I can bet no Polish person would pay that much for such a silly "crime". You get 100 zł fine when crossing the street on red light, but 500 zl for swearing? Give me a break.

It's 50zl. My friend was fined in Toruń a couple of years ago. He never paid and hasn't heard anything.

Episcopate in Poland in defense of Polish language

The Polish Epsicopate have issued a pastoral letter in defense of good Polish and against the languages growing pauperisation, vulgarity and aggression. They cite sociologists whose research has found a directly proportionate relationship between aggressive and vulgar language and the growth of physical aggression and vulgar behavior in society.
Do you or disagree with the pop-slop culture that imposes and spreads such underclasss language on the rest of society.

I agree the language must be cleaned of vulgarities etc. However, it can`t be done by passing new laws. It is the family and school work.

Yes, that is why so many lower class, lumpenproletariat morons insert kurwa every 3 words. They feel safe.

Wildrover made a good point, although now such an old post:-)
Would any fine extend to swearing in a language other than Polish?
lol

I disagree with the church shoving their noses into every aspect of Polish life!
