I had a tattoo done on each forearm when I was 15 and then never had another one until some 25 years later. I had to wait for a couple of hours while my car was having an alarm fitted, took a walk and found myself outside of a tattoo parlour, got the urge and had another 3 on my legs and back.

I still cannot think of the reason why I wanted more. strange.

As it says on the pages, try them out temporarily first. Do you have any other tattoos?

I guess those tattoos represent Celtic or possibly American-Indian (Native American) tribes? Are you polish?

Nope...and I'm only playing with the idea...

These are runes...I didn't know the native Americans use them too? (I've heard of some interaction with the Vikings of course)

Don't quote me, im not 100% sure. But I studied the American West and they look similar to those that were used by the Indians at that time, during rituals etc.

Though you're probably right, certainly more Viking etc...

I'm thinkinh of getting a tattoo, but as I was saying before, I think people do get them for the wrong reasons, and i know too many people who have done that in the past becasue they thought it would 'look pretty'.

Though I think with something like runes you get them for a meaning right? theyre a good conversation starter too, for people who are either interested in them, or who don't know what they are...

It would be a visible connection to my beliefs, to my heritage, to my ancestors...surely not because they look "pretty", as they barely do. ;)

Then people should respect that. Thats a cool thing to do, especially for those (like myself) who treat their heritage as something to be valued and respected. Where are you from?

Actually...no?? I wasnt thinking that?? You see what I did was ask what we normal people call a "question" where other, normal people, would then answer my "question" by giving me facts that would then help me gain knowledge on the subject that I was confused about, which is why i asked this so called "question" in the first place. See, pretty simple huh? No hidden messages or codes to figure out. :)

People with tattoos are usually considered lower class, trouble makers, criminals or gypsies and are frowned upon by most, in particular the older generation. Many in Poland are starting to open up to the idea but many still think its distasteful. There are some designs which are considered the worst of the worst (anything depicting devils or satanic symbols for example). The best way to deal with this is to have your tattoo on a place thats easily hidden, my cousin in Warsaw has one on his shoulder (he's also a vegetarian and has a child out of wedlock and ignores my babcia so his lifestyle is extremely gauche for Poland). In terms of piercing they don't seem to have too much of a problem with it, I myself have 10 piercings 9 of which are on my ears and when I go to see my family my babcia always makes a point of inviting her friends over and telling them about how wonderful I am (groan) and they always mention my piercings and how pretty they are, it would probably be different if I was a boy however.

There is a certain stigma with men who have piercings they are very often mistaken for being gay, I'm not entirely sure why. However the more rural areas of Poland will probably be more strict on these things.

moved

to make my second tattoo

Dude don't do it there are Autoclave resistant bacteria nowadays, even if they bake their tools for the recommended one hour (Which I doubt the majority do).

Russian Roulette, I had mine 40 years ago but that's before aids and antibiotic resistant bacteria.

you dont get "AIDS" from professional tattoo equipment that has been autoclaved, don't be silly.

Roz do you Really think all autoclave their kit, just go to Thailand and take a look. I would not trust a Polish tattoo shop , they don't even make health visits to restaurants where i am, or they are paid off.

Autoclave resistant bacteria threat today very real. Aids was the risk back in my day when kit was washed in a saucepan full of dettol.

just go to Thailand

no thanks that sleazepit of sex and drug tourists never did appeal somehow..:) Besides how did Thailand come into it?

I still think that you have a poor grasp of bio-chemistry if you think that you can 'get AIDS' from autoclaved equipment.
Even the saucepan ful of dettol would be effective.
There might be autoclave resistant bacteria but it aint ''AIDS""

I am not a bio chemist or doctor which probably explains my error, Thailand's approach to Hygiene has comparisons in Poland, cough Cough splutter over food that should behind glass or covered up, bare hands where gloves should be used, I see it all the time.

Not nit picking but I don't want people to be badly informed Dettol and savlon will NOT kill the HIV virus.
