MEASURING NATIONAL PROGRESS - To truly advance social progress, we must learn to measure it, comprehensively and rigorously. The Social Progress Index offers a rich framework for measuring the multiple dimensions of social progress, benchmarking success, and catalyzing greater human wellbeing. The 2014 version of the Social Progress Index has improved upon the 2013 'beta' version through generous feedback from many observers. We continue to welcome your use and testing of our data, and feedback to help us continue to improve
When comparing with USA Poland scored better in:
- Nutrition and basic medical care: 98.18 vs 97.82
- Personal safety: 82.71 vs 77.70 (here surprisingly Poland has around the same number of death on the roads as USA, while in EU Poland is of the most dangerous countries)
- Access to Basic Knowledge: 97.37 vs 95.10
- Access to information and communications: 83.55 vs 81.33
- Ecosystem sustainability: 72.51 vs 53.78 (maybe they looked at the fact that Poland is becoming one big forest. in 40' forests were only 21% of the country area while now it's 30%)
and very close to USA in:
- Water and Sanitation
- Health and Wellness
- Personal Rights
