Is Poland a safe country for people of color?

Polonius3  980 | 12275

stuck in the 18th century

No, the Bermans, Brystygiers, Romokkowskis, Fejgins, Michniks, Feldmans,
Frenkiela, Graffs, Hochbergs, Karliners, Karpińskia, Lityńskiańskis, Milcyns,
Świątkowskis, Widajs, Wizelbergs, Wnorowskis, Wolińskas and many, many more were busy beating, torutring and murdering Polish patriots in the mid-20th century. In a country (post-war Poland) were Jews accounted for less than 1% of the population, they made up 58% of the UB (Stalinist secret police).

"villlage Jew" became a sort of icon, complete with unsavory reputation or first impression, as arch usurer, cheat and crooked businessman!

Lyzko, maybe you are right about history, today's Poland is different, you are fluent in both written and spoken Polish you would fit in here no problems at all , do you visit at all?, are you worried when you visit/ if you visit,

@Polonius, not sure where you get your information, but in no responsible record which I've read, does it ever detail unprovoked attacks by local Jews on gentiles for the sheer pleasure of it:-) 'Course, there were/are Jewish gangsters, drunks, and low lives, just as with any other peoples. The fact is though, that it was never Jews who instigated anti-Jewish violence, unless you equate being a kip and paeis- wearing Yeshiva boy as an automatic provocationLOL

I trust that's not what you're saying!

@dolnośląsk, As I haven't been back to Poland in many years, if my wife wished to accompany me, I'd be off like a shot. Unfortunately, until that time, I'll have to stay au courante via the Web, as do the rest of us!

homogeneous societies such as yours

Who are you talking to Lzyko? Czeslaw definitely is a troll. If he is Polish I doubt it very much.
--

that given the history of anti-Jewish persecution, in Poland

You claim to be some kind of scholar and historian even. What evidence do you have to talk about persecution? I'm sure none whatsoever except for your big mouth and few slogans.

--

only fourty-odd years, since Mieczysław Moczar terrorized Poland with his anti-foreign, xenophobic rants, thus inciting violence.

You do realize that he was nothing else but Kremlin's stooge in the Soviet occupied Poland? That Soviet Union was ruling Poland the way they liked and top brass and elsewhere were to bigger or lesser extend collaborators and represented no one else but Soviet, communist regime.

--
Plus being obsessed with ethnicity you should know that he was half Polish - his original name Mikołaj Demko. Not to mention the fact that communists have no nationality.

Communists have no nationality...

Neither have anti-Semites. A hater by any other name remains just that:-)

You're missing the point by a mile again Lzyko. Are you sure that you're not blinded by your hate or prejudice?

If I need to spell it for you and keep it short due to your atrociously low attention span so be it!

If you have issue with Poland and especially Poland official and government in the years 1945-1989 you can adders your pleas to Kremlin, Moscow, Russia or directly to your friend Putin as their are in fact a legal continuation of the Soviet Union.

" if my wife wished to accompany me, I'd be off like a shot."

Well try and convince her , Spend a few days in Wroclaw then spend a few days in Dolnoland , summer is good.

" less than 1% of the population, they made up 58% of the UB (Stalinist secret police)."

Yes Pol that is our history too, same as the Polish pogroms. Our children and grandchildren live in today's world, I for one will not forget the murder that be·fall my family during WWII, but I will not allow that history to stop me moving forward towards a better future, and I truly believe that modern day Poland is moving forward in the same way, well apart from a few dinosaurs who are still stuck in the old soviet/Nazi groove like an old record.

While a leopard might never change his spots, perhaps a Pole can change his (true) colors:-)

If I can convince my wife to come along, then I'll definitely consider it! As she doesn't speak Polish, I'd naturally act as her translator.

Many Europeans may speak some English, but whether or not they THINK in English, remains a questionLOL

And in your case, Ironside, unremitting prejudice reigns supreme!!

As she doesn't speak Polish,

My wife is English and only speaks a bit of pigeon Polish, but shopping is no problem at all, so they would get on fine me thinks.

You mean she speaks Polish like a pigeon, he-he?? I think you mean "pidgin"LOL

Thanks again for the public relations, dolno! My instincts though tell me better:-))

Really? Care to provide quotes to support your claim? Cause I can provide plenty of examples of YOUR prejudice! :)

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Prejudice against initial prejudice isn't prejudice it's called justifiable retribution, otherwise known as SURVIVAL!!!

History provides all the "proof" you need:-)

My instincts though tell me better:-))

Sometimes you need to challenge them because they can hold you back, whats the worst that can happen, you spend a few great days in wroclaw then dolno does not show up?, then I suggest you go to Krakow, see the dragon and nip down the salt mines.

" pigeon," Quite right sorry, I have them on the brain at the moment

Eye two:-))

My wife LOVES to look at Kraków........from the pages of a book. Regrettably, she also has had her own experiences with the Polish and so, must one day overcome HER trepidations!!

Really? I that is a pure BS. Sometimes called a tortured logic.
Especially as my alleged prejudice is noting else but a figment of your overworked imagination or in fact a prejudice. You see what you want to expect to see.

History provides all the "proof" you need:-)

Indeed, history of your posts provides all I need to prove that you Lyzka are prejudiced. About history and historical facts you know nothing and that is obvious. Sorry to burst your bubble, not!:)

You can't burst a bubble which fails to exist, ol' człowieku zalaza, hate to disillusion ya, bud!

You ignore facts as plain as the schnozz on yer face:-)

for the sheer pleasure of it

No, Jews did not spit on the ground when a Cahtolic nun walked by for the pelasure of it, but to display their disdain and disgust for goyim and their "heretical" religion. And Jewish innkeepers did not give simple peasants free drinks to get them hooked and then provided drink on credit for the sheer pleasure of it, but to take their property for unpaid debts. And many Polish families toildhad stories about Jewish turning Polish insurecitonists over to hte tsarist authorities because insurrecitons were bad for business. The point is not to demonise Jews or Poles or anyone else, but to stand back and realistically assess the friction that has aways existed between different religio-ethnic communities. Let's never forget how much a part of the Jewish experience anti-gentilism was. Anti-Semitism did not just appear out of thin air.
Lyzko  41 | 9671
31 Oct 2016 /  #229
Although I certainly don't defend the "bad" behavior of my co-religionists, Jews were never made to feel especially welcome in almost any European country of which I can think (except perhaps Denmark, possibly also Bulgaria and they were so few in number, their presence went largely unnoticed for centuriesLOL)

Jews were the political footballs of the world, brought in when their supposed skills, cleverness and/or expertise, was needed, merrily chased out, as soon as their services were no longer required.

@Lyzko, we were made a byword among the nations. :-( To be fair, though, Polin (Poland) was pretty welcoming relative to other countries. So was Lithuania at points.
Polonius3  980 | 12275

was pretty welcoming

That is certainly true. Otherwise there would not have been 3 million Jews in pre-1939 Poland. Poland was relatively tolerant to religious dissidents of Christian persuasion fleeing persecution in the "enlghtened" West. The only denomination expelled from Poland were the Arians and not for religous reasons but solely because they sided with the invading Swedes.

you get your information

Are you familiar with what the Talmud has to say about Goyim? Maybe you can give us a few quotes. I need say no more.
Lyzko  41 | 9671
1 Nov 2016 /  #233
And are you also familiar with what the New Testament has to say on the subject of worthiness and salvation??

"Be he Greek or Jew, in finding Christ, they too may enter the Kingdom of Heaven."

:-)))
Polonius3  980 | 12275
1 Nov 2016 /  #234
they too may enter the Kingdom of Heaven

Indeed, the Talmud was not that merciful and all-encompassing. It claimed God had created the subhuman Goyim to serve the Jewish chosen people like beasts of burden. Can you find a single good word about Goyim in the Talmnud?

Stick to the topic please

Think there's some historical misunderstanding, frankly, as to what precisely was meant by "chosen people"!
:-)

some historical misunderstanding

Please elaborate. I'm not a Bible specialist.

What? This thread is still active?

Poland is safe! Safe, alright! Christ Himself was colored and if He resurrects He would be safe in Poland. All colored people are ever safe in Poland. If necessary, Poles would paint themselves. Poland is devoted to EU standards. Plus NATO! Yes, yes, yes!

Really, I thought you had just come down from mount Rushmore with some stone tablets to bash Jews, Gays and Women over the head with.

bash

That's what's wrong with the PC dictatorship. Any attempt to discuss all aspects of their favoruite sacred cows is met with a knee-jerk suppression of free speech (the charge of "bashing") and some discussion-muzzling labels: femophobia, homism, erotism, cripplophobia, youngism, oldism or other equally silly made-up labels.

but in your case Polonius with a double O it is not about 'discussing' it is about being vile and rude.
