Many Poles do tend to be indifferent, that's true. Still, I wouldn't like to be a coloured person out on a Friday or Saturday night in quite a few parts of Warsaw or certain towns in the east of Poland. Gliwice is quite a conservative town so coloured people are noticed but often left alone. It just takes a drunken idiot to spark off fights.

They certainly often do, some are black, some brown, some yellow.

Certainly safer than Africa is for the people of no-color.

And yes, the larger cities in Poland are increasingly safer and are welcoming to people whatever their skin colour. As it should be.

I'm in this very situation at the moment. Im grew up in France but my parents are from SE Asia.
My girlfriend decide to move to Wroclaw for her studies. So I moved with her. This is my first time in Poland, I never though about coming to this place before. Like it wasnt really a country that I wanted to visit.

Since we here (two weeks), I noticed girls are watching me a lot. Like staring. In the pub especially, nightclubs too. In the street too, but staring like I've never been stared at before.

Boys have no problems with me I guess, sometime I just feel that they are looking at me in a bad way, or looking down on me. Old people look at me too, but not like young people.

Something that I never done before in London, or France is giving away cigarette when one is asking. Old people are really nice when they ask and I'm giving to them (they know I'm a foreigner, so they say thank you and trying to speak a little bit). Young people are just asking, and sometime they leave without saying thanks.

I never felt bad in here since I'm here. I'm just little bit afraid sometimes, but I think it will be better and better with time. I hope, because this country and the people are nice.

It's cigarette they relatively cheap in Poland. I understand only people I'm not giving cigarettes are kids, I have to change my I attitude and stop giving cigarettes and change to English.

I really would not go to Poland if I was you. I am black born in the UK and since the migration of millions of Polish people to the UK myself and many other black and Asian people that I know have experience a lot of racism from these people. They are not used to multicultural societies. My friend who works for a major supermarket has been called a monkey, a car full of Polish people (polish registration number) shouted the N word at my 72 year old mother as she was walking home. These are the just the facts from my perspective as a black person. I would never personally go to that country. I would give it a miss to avoid the backward potential hatred. Moreover, as shown on this threat - Polish people admit their country is racist (whilst at the same time complaining about the discrimination they experience from white British people - go figure!).

Wulcan - Really - Because when I was in South Africa (a black country) lots of white people seemed to think it was safe enough to live there in the lap of luxury - all whilst proclaiming to be victims (and oppressed!). There were also many white people in Rwanda living off the fat of the land working in high paid positions as NGO's. In fact just think of any African nation with a wealth of natural resources and you will find white people - danger or not!
