Look again: not before, but in. :):)
Poland's National Anthem "Mazurek Dąbrowskiego" (download mp3)
Sorry, but I don't see them Pawian.
What gets me though is that there are embedded videos in this thread that are still there from 2010.
Yet when I post Polish music videos they are deleted in 24 hours......
Can a mod or admin please explain this to me?

The 2010s were the happy times of unlimited quoting and linking.... :):)
Yet when I post Polish music videos they are deleted in 24 hours......
Not deleted. They are still there in youtube... :):) Only the direct hotlink is lost.

I just did, and do you know what?
The Polish anthem moves me far more than the British one.....
Only the direct hotlink is lost.
I know, but I don't understand why they feel they have to do that.
Is it fear of copyright laws?
Of course not. Hotlinking doesn`t infringe on copyright laws. It has sth to do with forum`s algorithm.
Mazurek Dabrowskiego remains an unconvincing choice for the anthem. Music: the pace is too fast and mazurek's tempo somewhat undignifyingly jumpy. Most highschool leavers in Poland, as most ordinary citizens have no idea who Dabrowski was, and less still Czarnecki. And Bonapart was first beaten by Rusians and then by the British, so showing us "the way to victories" is a startling error.

You adopted a wrong look at history. First he beat Russians, Prussians and Austrians in several famous battles.

Combined with the way that he offered Poles something that no-one else was offering at the time, it certainly is the wrong way to look at history.
As for Dąbrowski and Czarnecki, you'd have to be a complete idiot to finish high school and not know who they are. Dąbrowski is a national hero, and Czarniecki is perhaps the finest military figure that the country has ever had.

Just ask young people to tell you who Dabrowski and Czarnecki were, next time you are in your local shop. You are allowed to pick your age group. And see what you hear. I'm not making a big point, but it seems to me that "Boze cos Polske" would suit better. It contains a very apt, poetic and moving reference to God, and the melody is a altogether seems a better fit.
@Sylvio
As much as I love Boże, coś Polskę, I don't think it's the best choice for the national anthem. Not all Poles are religious.
As for not knowing who Dąbrowski or Czarnecki were, not my fault someone didn't pay attention in their Polish and history classes. BTW, I doubt someone who doesn't know who they were is an active church goer.
And if we want a religious anthem, e already had Bogurodzica.
Also, the only other song that would be right for the national anthem that comes to my mind is Rota but what do 'złoty róg' and 'hetmanił' mean? ??? Hmmm ;)
In the meantime, Mazurek Dabrowskiego at Spodek

Oh, I see. You suggest: let`s change the anthem coz young people don`t remember Czarnecki and others. :)):
I haven`t heard of a country introducing such a change for such a reason.

I can only describe it as 'ciary' :)
Besided generally liking volleyball I also love the fans
@Lenka
You're not the only one that reacted like that; )
The anthem, the acoustics at Spodek and thousands of people singing.

You should just change the tense- reacts not reacted. Each and every time :) I really like that tradition of singing a cappella
Well, have it your way, and I shall join in. But I cant help feeling mazurek is a jerky battle cry, thin on love and wisdom, musically whimsical. And its not like we dont have better Polish songs. Still, I agree it maybe wrong to change it. Oh yes, about Napoleon, looked great in paintings, but in the end after being beat to rat-s@$!, even his prison escapes didnt go right. Some "Dal nam przyklad" .. Da!!
One main reason against the change: if Poles felt the need, they would have changed it long ago. I have never met a Polish person who suggested such a move. Your opinion is extremely isolated in Poland. You are not a native Pole, that is obvious. :):)

Agreed.
I think it is a terrific anthem, better than the British or American ones.
It even runs the French "Marseillaise" close for sheer passion.
Jak zwyciezac namy to: Jagiello albo Sobieski, przynajmniej nasi wlasni.
The anthem originated at the times of Bonaparte, so it is obvious his name appears in the text. You wanna fight against over 200 -year-old tradition?? :):) Come to Poland and suggest it to average Poles in the street, they will send you to czubków. hahaha
