unfortunately its not that one.
The one i'm after was very simular to the Kiepskich - was mostly filmed inside the house about a family also.

Hello, I have been studying Polish for a long time now but would still like to get better at it.
I have been looking for Polish movies to watch and have seen a few.
But I was looking for some Polish comedy films.
So far I have seen:
Ciacho and Chlopaki nie Placza.
Do you know of any other movies I could watch?
I really enjoyed 'Ciacho'. It was good.

There is a film where hero must learn english to win girl. He buys a "learn in your sleep" from some Russian shop, but when he awakens, he speaks Hungarian, not English. I can't remember the name, but I wanted to give it to a friend as a gift.
Also, my university has started a "global film club" and I wish to bring Polish films that many will enjoy. Which ones would people suggest? They asked me to bring "Katyn", which I will, but what else do you think? The problem is the film must have English subtitles, so that limits some.

i don't know if one should 'enjoy' katyn.
Depends on your definition of enjoy. If it is merely to sit back, eat some popcorn, have a few laughs and kill an hour and a half, then I would agree. But if one enjoys watching "foreign" films, appreciating the different POV, learning some history, discussing the merits of various techniques used by film makers to get their point across, then one could enjoy watching the film. Likely if it is a serious film / cinema club, it is likely the latter.

Yes, it is not "fun", but to learn history - especially what is ignored by American schools -- should bring a type of enjoyment by learning.

I think " hammer home with a blunt force the fact that these objects will turn up on bodies" yes, a good place to start.....
Was disapointed with Katyn, maybe over hyped? But imho Wajda's best work was many decades ago, his use of symbolism rather than being what it was in the old days,a subtle dig at the censors is now,with freedom as subtle as a brick.
Saying all that I do have a soft spot for his version of Pan Tadeusz

me too. not only a great Polish film, but a great film in general. One of my fav's across the board.
The music is so haunting too.
It was funny that I saw it only a couple of weeks before flying into warsaw airport too ,though I left my old steamer trunk at home :)

well, lately I watched "peasants" ("Chłopi") on TV and I must admit, that back at school it didn't red a novel or watched this, and now - after 20 years I discovered it as very interesting, also "Over Niemen River" (Nad Niemnem). Maybe because I live on the country now?
