The IT boom in Poland, particularly krakow, wroclaw and warsaw it's real. I have seen salaries for senior programmers above 12k pln.

Poland is evolving fast!! Those that want to be part of the evolution will have a great future. The ones with the backward mentality will be left behind and well keep living in the past with salaries from the past.

It's very nice salary as for Poland. Top 1% or 2% of highest salaries. Tell us please more about your working field, experience and the company you're applying to.

Still, the BPO's are paying peanuts, even to native speakers.

I was thinking the same. If they're that smart why can't they use google and find answer in 5 seconds.

BPO's pay and will always pay peanuts, that's their business specially when all you need to know to work there is a foreign language. The opportunities are in the Research Centers looking for highly trained people. In krakow just to name a few: Google, Motorola, Cisco, ABB. (constantly hiring)

And it's not about multinationals, startups are offering very competitive salaries and if you are interested they are hiring.

Kindly advice on the cost of living.
Saving some money is a very important aspect for me.
I am single, do not visit pubs often, don't smoke, live simple and intend to rent a single room apartment.
Kindly advice on how much should I be able to save.

Yes, that's a decent-ish salary. More than most in Warsaw get. If you want to know more, try the search function. There are dozens of threads about this sort of thing.

I'd try searching within the Forum, but couldn't make out how much would I save in the current year. I understand, that two years back, the average cost of living for a single guy was around 4-5k pln.

Even that's a decent salary in Warsaw. After tax you'll have about 10k left, maybe 9. A flat will cost you about 2k and you'll live fairly well on half of the rest. If you live modestly (or even share a flat - though people on that sort of salary generally don't) you'll spend less and be able to save more.

I suppose I'm considered a very high earner in Warsaw terms, being further down a career path and getting much more than the amount you mention but I don't think I spend even 5k per month and live very well indeed. A doctor gets less than 10 before tax.

That impossible as average salary in Warsaw is probably around 5k - 6k pln. That's around 3.5k - 4.2k net. And people who earn average in Warsaw are able to save some money.

Hope you all are doing great.
While googling i came across this forum so though of joining in for clarifying my some doubts.

I have been offered a monthly salary compensation of 15PLN Gross for my job.
I have checked that there is a very high 32% of flat income tax on gross Salary in warsaw.

Can any one clarify or tell me about cost of living in warsaw, considering the fact that i am single and always prefers to live in a decent place.

I'll be traveling from india so saving money is on priority. So how much monthly it would be able to save with decent life style.

Also if some one can tell me how life style @ warsaw is different from other EU nations , or its same like dem :S i have very less idea on that :)

I am a SAP Consultant by profession , a Multinational is opening it IT development center based out at warsaw, and they are hiring for same. Generally we get around 50K-90K Euros being at other European locations. I am looking for this job considering the fact that the cost of living is less in warsaw, also living standard is not very different from other european capitals.

Can you please let me know like in how much cost can i get in studio apartment/ 1 BHK and what would be like expense if i prefer to have my meals outside.

Also it would be great if u can tell me about polish culture/ people/ night life .

Please let me know if its difficult for some one like me who does't know local language and only knows english :)

Yeah a decent flat at babka towers with garage will run u around 2800 pln furnished plus gas,car insurance or A monthly metro pass dining out 5 days a week you will be alright,lol and a occasional date.you all set man get that job.

In other EU countries that will not be enough by what polish standards offer.

Thanks for answer. 180K PLN ( 43K EUR) is definitely more in Warsaw than 50K EUR in other European capitals. But if you were to get more in the west ( let say 60K), then it depends which capital (Berlin is cheap but Germany has higher taxes, London expensive and lower taxes) and how big portion of your salary you want to put away as savings. What I mean is that when living in expensive country with higher salary it's easier to cut on spending and save nominally more.

I think that eating out during lunch time will cost you 12 - 30 PLN per lunch, depending where you eat. According to some website 50-75 m2 flat in Warsaw costs average 2676 PLN / month. Your salary after taxes and insurances will be 10518 PLN.

28% knows some English. In Warsaw it can be double. In general all people age 15 - 35 should speak some English.

This salary is not impossible, according to tiny.cc/hays-report CRM/ERP consultant in Mazowieckie earns min 10 000 - 30 000 and median is 14 000 (in 2011). It looks like the highest payed, not managerial position in IT, so it's not strange that they search for cheaper workers abroad.

But in this case they are providing a skill we don't appear to have, and would hopefully transfer some of that knowledge to Poles. They are paying 4.000 tax a month and the number of people will be hundreds rather than millions - surely this is the "good" kind of immigration.

What is weird is that I have been able to find Polish developers for less - about 10.000 but not in SAP. Is the premium for SAP people really so high ?

According to Hayes yes. IMHO ERP systems are boring for IT people and it's harder to get experience in it. It's hard to train SAP at home and only bigger companies use it, what is not true about for example PHP.

If it's net, you can have a moderate lifesty;le though not luxurious. If it's gross, you would need to live very carefully.

Sobieski - I KNOW personally people who relocated to Poland from India or Pakistan and are earning that sort of salary in Poland.
Believe me - it is possible. International companies generally prefer to relocate people to other sites as it saves them head hunting fees. And gives their people opportunity to grow.

There are companies that transfer Polish expats too (I'm one of them) to overseas locations. And they don't offer them junior roles for national minimum wage.

You just have to be in right place at the right time.

No company is so fool that they'll import foreign employee by paying double salary, also as there is additional cost involved like visa and work permit.

It's been communicated to me that they are unable to find with SAP Skill which fortunately i have , which also suites their requirement. Hence they obviously needs to pay lil higher to attract people from other nations. Also considering the fact that i'll be relocating and have to pay higher income tax of around 32%. It does't seems to be sum thing over paid.

It's very much within market standards, infect too less than what other companies offer in other EU nations..

Only few small countries have lower tax in Europe. What is taxation in India? I mean what percentage of your gross salary is tax? (Although it's not so simple here in Europe to compare because employer pays taxes too, so gross salary is not whole cost of employer)

Ya monitor, in india we have 4 Slabs of taxation. From 0%, 10%, 20% to 30%. Also this tax is on above if salary exceeds above a static income.
Higher Salary tends to higher tax.
But we have few relaxations also, it depends on your savings, investment in government owned policies/funds/insurance, housing loan and many more.
So its not really not so high.

Yeah i too just checked income tax is high in most EU nations.

Why don't you consider working in Singapore, Malaysia...For sure there are big Indian communities over there....You will be disappointed by Poland...The weather is very different as yours....

Ya am looking for other asian opportunities also, its just that i am a kind of guys who prefers to live with different poeple /geography/ Culture, so just wanted to explore eastern europe. And i see this as a good way :D
