i, for one, am leaving next year in the winter/early spring.
what about the rest of the expat clan on this forum? my main question is this: how many of you can honestly say that you will stay in Poland forever? how many of you can honestly say that you will stay in Poland 10+ years? how many plan to leave this year/next year? i guess now we'll find out for ourselves, Mr. Torq.

oh well, for all those who are leaving our beautiful country...

Flights can be costly when you pay for 2 of them.

yeah, go figure. an american that wants to fly home once every 12-18 months to see his family and buy clothing.

truly a waste of money.

Poles are NOT leaving Poland. They are going abroad for a couple of years to earn some
money and come back. Most of my friends, who emmigrated in 2004 and after, are already
back in Poland.

true. Just like my cousin from Brzeg.

Ah, but you can't tell me that all those Poles who left and came back started their own businesses. So what was the gameplan, just experience?

Some of them just fell in love with the country and people and decided to stay. In some
cases, as you said, it's family ties that keep them here. There can be many reasons, and
my personal observations tell me that the overwhelming majority of them are here to stay
(which is definitely a good thing for Poland.)

The foreigners I know here in Poland overwelmingly came here for their Polish partner and that includes me :)
Not that the other reasons mentioned are not valid of course

The UK is a $hithole,,just admit it already,, Its like Texas we own it but dont really want it...lol

No, I don't think so.

I'd rather continue to live in South Manchester than in central Tokyo where I am going to inherit a house or two.

I would rather say that they took a tremendous burden away from Germany. If our countries would share a common border, now that would be a different story... We Poles loved Ameryka back in 2004. :)

I get aggravated by what is happening to my country and it sucks!

Im sorry for venting out my frustrations and obviously Im taking it out on the wrong people.

It has it's problems, but I wouldn't call it a szithole.

Ha... thanks for that....I hope the Russian visa peeps think that too...!!!

I am heading first to a flat in a block in Krasnogorsk Moscow...that will be a bit of a shock to the system after five years living alone on my farm in the forest...then next summer we move into a new wooden house by the side of lake Plescheevo , about 140 kms north east of Moscow....

its everso pretty there....and they have bears too.... can,t wait to get myself a little boat...!!

At the moment its for good.

Its time to go, i may be back next year for a while, i have to leave the pets here a dog and a cat because of the UK quarantine laws, so need to come back for them.

I dont think i'll be back to live.

You might try Canuckland.. think they're hiring.

Problem with that is you need 300K for the business visa, have to wait for that. Boo Hoo!

Nah im going back to my country, England.

Yeh, its weird how things work out. Ive got such a shite storm coming what with taking everything i need and packing it all into a sports coupe. I dont even want to think about all that just yet.

Finding a place to live in the UK, etc etc.. never know i may get there and think Poland wasnt so bad and head straight back, after meeting Espana in Manchester of course.

You just have to go in with the right attitude. Do you have a lot of mates back home? Don't be surprised if they haven't moved forward. Poland is quickly catching up on Britain in many ways. Britain is a country where people are stagnant. They say the same things, they watch the same programmes and it's an utter bore. Sitting in a pub and drinking pints will get boring!

At least here in Poland you can be discreet and slip under the radar. Winter sport options are better here. However, you have to roll the dice and see.

Yeh i got a few good ones, most of them owe me so calling a favour wont be a problem.

Don't be surprised if they haven't moved forward.

I know its been over 4 years, even so im not going back to my home town that really would be like i never left. Ive got this nice idea of a little village with a fish n chip shop decent local pub and hey a fast internet connection - finally. Lets not forget about the golf also, if i can squeeze the clubs in the car.

Variety is the spice of life, ive been bored out of my brain here for years now, freezing my ass off in winter, even snowboarding doest counter act that.

Im outta here.

That's important in getting set up. It's the hardest time. You seem like a forceful guy and I mean that in a good way. You have to be. I've learned that you simply must put yourself in positions in Britain and be ruthless about it.

I know what you mean, you miss that quaint feel of English countryside life. OK, I've never felt the English version but Britain hardly varies that much. In Scotland, there is Deeside that I used to cycle out to a lot. It has cool little shops and great golf options. Pub lunches are immense :) :) I always have one when I'm back. Scampi, cod and other British options :) :) People tend not to look beyond crap like black puddings but pub grub is to die for. British pints are also nice.

You are doing the right thing :)

Come on Seanus how could you possibly know that?

It is what it is and im preparing my PF leaving statement, like saying goodbye at the local Brit pub. Just that then i wouldnt have to smack a few people (hopefully) on my way out.
